Firmer forged irons? – GolfWRXers discuss

In our forums, our members have been discussing firmer forged irons. WRXer ‘Bbspeer’ is on the hunt for a new set of clubs that don’t have a soft feel, kicking off the thread by saying:

“Looking for recommendations for forged irons to try, as I’ve realized that I prefer “firm” feeling over “soft”. To me, I describe firm as (heavy, solid, pure, dense) as opposed to soft which feels (light, hollow, mushy). Think T100 vs ZX7. Preferably players CB or MB with a touch of forgiveness.”

PEI_Golfer: “Although you said you want to move away from Titleist, have you hit the 620s as they pretty much fit the bill for newer released irons (beautiful looking clubs). Personal opinion, but I’ve usually found TM CB’s to be on the ‘firmer’ side as well, but haven’t played a set since the ’14s and only tested some out.”
rainkingjr: “Get a set of Maltby TE forged or DBMs. Forged out of 1035. Plenty of forgiveness, and they fit the bill as far as the feel you are after. Price is amazing as well.”
Cruisin1966: “If I had a recommendation to make, it would be the P7TW’s, or something Miura (TC201, MB101).”
spartyjeff: “IMO shaft plays a role in this as well. The stiffer more boards shaft is going to make you feel it in your hands a bit more. BUT I loved my Bridgestone J33’s that were forged. A little bit firmer, but the man did they feel good. Soun makes no difference to me, it’s all about feel.”
