Coolest thing for sale in the GolfWRX Classifieds (2/1/22): 1999 Endo Forged Hogan Apex iron set

Published

on

At GolfWRX, we are a community of like-minded individuals that all experience and express our enjoyment of the game in many ways.

It’s that sense of community that drives day-to-day interactions in the forums on topics that range from best driver to what marker you use to mark your ball. It even allows us to share another thing we all love – buying and selling equipment.

Currently, in our GolfWRX buy/sell/trade (BST) forum, there is a listing for a 1999 Endo Forged Hogan Apex iron set.

From the seller (@djeaid): “I may regret this but I am selling my Endo forged 1999 Ben Hogan Apex iron set.   This is a full set of 1-Equalizer, gap wedge, and Hogan Colonial forged sand wedge.  12 irons total.  All are shafted with pured Steelfiber I95 regular flex shafts.  They were originally built to 1/2” over standard length but I have extended the short irons to get 3/8” increments that I prefer.

This is probably the nicest complete set of 99 Endo forged Hogan Apex irons out there.  The Steelfiber’s along with the Endo forging results in an incredibly soft feel. $850 plus actual shipping.”

This is the most impressive current listing from the GolfWRX BST, and if you are curious about the rules to participate in the BST Forum you can check them out here: GolfWRX BST Rules

This assumes that there are no senior scratch players. Which is wrong. There are many. Irons don’t have age or speed restrictions.

Not sure who would buy these for playability considering they are lightweight shafts with R-flex..low hdcp players wont play them

I agree with your post. I own 3 sets of 99’s, including a set I purchased new in 99. Shame the original 115g Apex shafts were pulled. They are now only worth the price of the shafts.

Spotted: Nate Lashley’s Ping PLD “Wolverine” putter

Published

on

Ping PLD putters have been a very common site on profesional tours. Pros seem to gravitate toward the PLD line’s custom options and precision milling. We have seen the PLD line expanded over the years, but we haven’t seen too many, if any, large mallets.

This week we spotted a PLD putter in Nate Lashley’s bag that has a similar look to the old Ping Wolverine head shape. This putter is a large mallet with the famous “claws” on the outside and oval center that housed the alignment aid.

Nick’s putter has the PLD logo on the back but also looks like it might have an insert installed on the face. It is hard to tell but at the address picture, it looks like the face is a lighter material than the rest of the putters. The putter is center-shafted and should be face-balanced with a high MOI for stability and forgiveness on mishits. The sole is completely milled and has no markings of name or technologies that might be present in the head. A single white site line is on the top of the putter for alignment.

Nick’s putter is finished off with a chrome steel shaft and a Super Stroke Zenergy Flatso 2.0 grip in black and white.
