Srixon unveils all-new Z-Star Diamond golf ball

Published

on

Srixon has today introduced its all-new Z-Star Diamond golf ball, which hits retail in North America on Jan. 21, 2022.

Per the company, the new Z-Star Diamond was one of the primary factors in bringing new Team Srixon staffer Brooks Koepka on board. The four-time major winner immediately put the ball in play at Capital One’s The Match on November 26th, where he beat Bryson comfortably and speaking on the ball, he said:

“Z-Star Diamond is a game-changer for me. This golf ball was a major driver in joining Srixon, and it’s been a seamless transition. The performance is really impressive, and I feel confident heading into the new tour season.”

The foundation of the Z-Star Diamond ball is the FastLayer Core, which is soft at its center and firm around its outer edge. That duality is designed to provide excellent speed and great feel.

The ball also features Srixon’s proprietary Spin Skin with SeRM, a durable urethane coating that digs deep into wedge and iron grooves on every impact in a bid to increase friction and maximize spin and control.

The new 338 Speed Dimple Pattern seeks to offer less drag and more lift which is designed to boost overall distance and a provide a penetrating flight even in the toughest wind conditions.

In addition, the latest Srixon ball delivers the unique benefit of increased spin on long and mid-iron shots and, per the company, is the ideal ball for high-speed players looking to hold the green from anywhere on the course.

Honma launches 2022 Beres Aizu and Black collection

Published

on

Honma Golf has launched its Beres Aizu and Black collections, the latest in the line of visually striking and luxurious equipment.

Speaking on the new collections, Janeann Lanning, COO of Honma North America, said

“This new line represents the latest breakthrough technology for golfers with moderate to modest swing speeds. Beres Aizu and Black allow golfers to make pure, stable swings with enhanced speed and powerful ball flight.”

The Aizu and Black clubhead designs feature identical technology; the Aizu line also adheres to traditional Beres 2-to-5 Star grading, with more advanced shaft technology as the grades progress.

Driver, Woods, Hybrids

Beres Aizu Driver Men’s

Each driver features triple sole slots and an L-Cup face which aims to provide powerful initial ball speed. Optimal center of gravity (CG) design seeks to allow for a high trajectory, low spin, forgiveness, and distance, while the draw bias helps correct fade tendencies associated with modest swing speeds.

Beres Black Driver Men’s

The triple slots bend at impact and rebound to increase ball speed, even on mishits, and the L-Cup face produces high repulsion across the face, maintaining an elevated CT value by not needing to weld the face. An evolved radial Ti6-4 face expands the toe and heel’s repulsive area in design to boost mishit forgiveness, while an ultra-low specific gravity titanium alloy, Ti811, thin-walled crown with varying thinness seeks to optimize impact deflection.

Beres Black Fairway Men’s

In addition, the new fairway woods and hybrids feature the new triple sole lot, thin crown, flexible face, and low-CG weight distribution designed independently for each head. Every wood seeks to offer unprecedented distance through ample speed, high launch, and easy-to-play draw-biased forgiveness.

Irons

Beres Aizu Iron Men’s

The Beres irons are manufactured to offer a high trajectory ball flight along with forgiveness and stability on every hit – even misses.

Beres Black Iron

A wide 3D L-Cup structure has a new ultra-thin face with vertical slits that are designed to improve the face insert strength – maximizing speed and forgiveness. Coupled with one external and two internal sole slots, plus a low-deep CG. The irons are designed to be easy to launch high with strong carry distance.

In addition, an 8620 Forged Body seeks to deliver Honma’s hallmark feel, while the 5-9 irons feature an L-Cup two-piece structure; 10-iron-SW have a flat face two-piece structure.

  • 4 Star ARMRQ MX shafts include high-strength M40X – highly-elastic Toray Composite that efficiently accelerates clubhead speed. 10-Axis Sheet Metal Hybrid Armour Technology and T1100G add clubhead speed and stability. A lower kick point toward the tip increases swing speed and distance. 24K gold is also part of the design in the ferrule.
  • 5 Star ARMRQ MX shafts they have the lowest torque and most technology. A high-strength M40X – highly-elastic Toray Composite that efficiently accelerates clubhead speed. 10-Axis Sheet Metal Hybrid Armour Technology and T1100G add clubhead speed and stability. T1100G in the bias layer strengthens twisting power and maximizes distance. 24K gold and platinum can also be found in the ferrule.
  • BERES Black ARMRQ MX shafts feature a T1100G bias ply that runs the full shaft length to maximize distance. Proprietary 10-Axis Sheet Metal Hybrid Armour Technology around the butt delivers stability and control. They are also meticulously hand-rolled and finished in jet-black gloss.

It’s that sense of community that drives day-to-day interactions in the forums on topics that range from best driver to what marker you use to mark your ball. It even allows us to share another thing we all love – buying and selling equipment.

Currently, in our GolfWRX buy/sell/trade (BST) forum, there is a listing for a set of Miura CB202 Straight Neck copper irons

From the seller (@FlopIt): “Very rare and gorgeous set of Miura CB202 Straight Neck 4-Pw (includes 3 iron head which has not been hit since the refinish) which were refinished in copper by a local plating shop that has 30 years of experience.  They have seen only 10-15 rounds of play with very minimum range time.

Bag chatter is virtually non-existent as I use an Ogio Silencer bag which locks the clubs in place.  Shafts are Nippon 1150 GH Tour taper tip in stiff flex and I can include a shaft for the 3 iron head but it is parallel tip so the head would need to be reamed to .370.  The grips are Golf Pride standard size MCC red/black and are in very good shape.

These play standard length (37 inch 7 iron) and lies and lofts are also standard as per Miura specs (47 degree Pw).  Swing weights all match at D2.  These irons feel fantastic and now have now formed a beautiful patina.  All waiting for your custom paint fill or go naked like they are now.  $990 Now $940 OBO.”
