Never (ever) understood the WITB column fillers other than doing just that. I guess I see it’s an avenue for insults and arguing, so there’s that. But where’s the value? In being able to say ‘I play X and this tour pro does, too?’ Even though the tour pro has his dialed in after many hours of fitting and tweaking and we don’t?

lol.. 2 of the past 4 majors winners used a Srixon driver and its still not good enough ehh

Must be a lot of Americans commenting here…..Srixon is the real deal. You do realise the heads used on tour aren’t off the rack? And that goes for all companies inc TM. Hope he bombs the ZX5!

“You do realise the heads used on tour aren’t off the rack? And that goes for all companies inc TM”….. hahahahahhahahahahahhahahahha looks like we got a genius over here………………. now tell me about the rest of the world since you are so intelligent

Actually the gear does come off the same lines as retail gear. Just meet certain specifications and levels of performance.
There is not some special plant in some special land where only Tour Issue gear is made. Plus manufacturing has gotten so good these days many are in line with retail.

Put a good high quality shaft in any good driver head and I don’t think he’ll have a problem with it

Spot on. Srixon ain’t fancy enough or American enough for some on here

Don’t expect to see Brooks winning anything anytime soon with that bag full of gardening equipment . No wonder he’s in a slump with that load of dross .

      Nov 22, 2021 at 11:25 am

You must have missed where the ZX7 irons and Zipcore wedges have been getting lots of play on tour.

      Nov 22, 2021 at 11:48 am

      What a stupid comment.

Im glad Srixon got brooks. Hideki’s gardening tools won him the masters.

      Nov 22, 2021 at 1:36 pm

Clearly you may not be aware of the fact that he played with these irons throughout all of last season, you know when he finished top ten in a couple of majors and won the WM phx open. I’m not a big BK fan or srixon for that matter. But they make fine equipment and I’m sure he could play great golf with virtually anything decent. For him in particular it’s putting and when he’s hot on the greens he’s hard to beat. Good day sir

Wow, don’t hold back Jeffrey. You’re entitled to an opinion like anyone so long as it’s based on actual experience. Perhaps you’d like to share with everyone how you reached this colorful evaluation. Lots of people like their product so I guess by your logic, lots of people like gardening.

How do you know he still plays the Nike 3 iron?

    • Gear Nerd

      Nov 23, 2021 at 10:02 am

Any self-respecting gear nerd knows that both koepka and finau still use that old nice relic. Nike didn’t make great clubs but every once in a while they put out a gem, and that vapor iron is one of them.

Any self respecting gear nerd know he’s dropped the club before. Now that he has a deal how can you be so sure?

    Nov 22, 2021 at 10:59 am

I wonder how long he’ll continue playing the Srixon driver as most of the their other tour staff play something else; wouldn’t be surprised to see the TM make it back in the bag to go along with the 3 wood.

    • Ryan Kelley

      Nov 22, 2021 at 9:55 pm

Most Srixon tour guys are using the ZX5 or ZX7 now. I guarantee the driver stays in his bag for years to come. It can beat or at least compete with any other driver out there.

  11. Rick Juster

    Nov 22, 2021 at 10:49 am

I guess his Nike equipment deal finally expired but it’s great to see an elite player sign with Srixon rather than the bigger companies.

    • Rob

      Nov 22, 2021 at 10:53 am

His Nike equipment deal ended in 2016 when they quit making golf clubs…

      • pjm

        Nov 22, 2021 at 6:13 pm

My understanding is that players under contract to play Nike equipment were still being paid by Nike, even after Nike stopped making equipment, provided that those players didn’t sign a deal with a competing equipment manufacturer. So the comment by Rick Juster is probably right – the Nike equipment contract finally expired, so Brooks decided he may as well get paid by someone to play their clubs.

          Nov 22, 2021 at 9:43 pm

He hasn’t been playing Nike gear outside of a 3i for years… So from your poor understanding and the other stoopid comment…

You again? I told you to shut your dumb mouth already buddy. Stop spreading your horse crap opinions, they’re just that, horse crap. And keep your socialist leaning Canadian opinions in your utopia country pal!!!!

          Nov 25, 2021 at 1:11 pm

They were endorsed on a gloves for apparel deal once their hardgoods deal ran out (because Nike stopped making the hardgoods like irons and woods)

      Nov 22, 2021 at 11:21 am

I am pretty sure Hideki is elite.

Pros play equipment that we can’t buy. It may say Titleist or Srixon but the customization is enormous.

  13. Jbone

    Nov 22, 2021 at 10:30 am

Koepka has been so against signing a club deal. Sure he’s getting paid but I see this as a huge testament to the quality of Srixon’s equipment.

    • Lee Trevino

      Nov 22, 2021 at 12:37 pm

Yeah the irons. That Driver is an unkown.

      • Jbone

        Nov 22, 2021 at 1:03 pm

True, unlike the bigger manufacturers it seems like Srixon players don’t have to play the Srixon driver. It could be different for Koepka tho.

        Nov 22, 2021 at 6:35 pm

That driver won the 2021 Masters, and it’s prior version won the 2019 Open Championship. Srixon makes great drivers.

      • Craig

        Nov 22, 2021 at 7:02 pm

Matsuyama and Lowry, recent major winners, play the driver. Not to mention half the LPGA. Hardly unknown.

Driver is on the Golf Digest 2021 Hot List…
