Ben Hogan irons 4 degree gaps from 4-pw makes better sense.

Couldn’t agree more with you on the loft differences these days. Growing up our PW was 50 or 51 degrees and now that’s a gap wedge. I’ve always maintained at least 4 degrees sometimes 5 degrees in the irons as i like to have 10-12 yard gaps with each iron. Right now i play a 2 and 4 utility iron at 18 and 22. Then my irons go in 4 degrees up to a 62 degree. I don’t use any woods just driver and my 18 degree goes out there 260. If i can’t get to a par 5 from there in two i lay it up. But these sets where you have 2-3 degrees gap in the long irons then 5 degrees in the short irons is ridiculous.

There’s a few bags dropping a long iron at the moment, as the gaps aren’t massive even for these guys..

Agree, have noticed the same. I’m guessing when he drops the 5-iron he weakens the 4 a little, strengthens the 6 a bit. Probably just trying to get the right gaps in long irons.
Amateur sets are out of control with 2-3 degree loft differences in long irons. Majority of amateurs probably need 3.5-4 gaps in long irons.
