‘What the f**k you doing?’ – Former Masters champ tells Brooks Koepka to ‘get a life’

Former Masters champion Ian Woosnam has launched a stinging attack on Brooks Koepka days before the U.S. take on Europe in the Ryder Cup at Whistling Straits.
Last week, Golf Digest published its exclusive interview with Koepka, where the 31-year-old aired his feelings on the Ryder Cup, calling the biennial event ‘a bit odd’ and that he finds the week ‘tough’.
Those comments angered former U.S. captain Paul Azinger who called on Brooks to relinquish his spot if he didn’t enjoy the competition. Now former European Captain Ian Woosnam has been the latest to hit out at the 4-time major champ.
Speaking at Ilkley Golf Club last week ahead of a Legends Tour event, the Welshman blasted the 31-year-old saying:
“The article Koepka has just done, that’s not nice for his team. It’s not good. He’s basically said, ‘I could do without this, it’s getting me out of my routine doing this’. “Christ almighty – get a life!”
Woosnam continued:
“If I was captain and it was one of my players, I’d be saying ‘What the f**k you doing?’ All this crap he’s got going with DeChambeau – is it that bad or is it just false? Either way, it’s not good for Stricker.”
The 2006 European Captain wasn’t exactly complimentary towards Brooks’ rival Bryson DeChambeau either and also accused Koepka of arrogance and shrugging off his peers.
“Who’d want to play with him (Bryson)? It wouldn’t surprise me if neither of them played before the singles. They’re already making excuses. You hear all this stuff last time between Dustin Johnson and Koepka. Is there something going on with Koepka?
Is he one of these guys who likes to stir everything? Is it arrogance? It’s almost like he’s shrugging them all off and saying I don’t want to be like you.”
The 43rd edition of the Ryder Cup kicks off Friday morning in Kohler, Wisconsin at the Pete Dye designed Whistling Straits.

Report: LIV exec calls McIlroy a ‘little b***h’ and says they can now finally get these 2 PGA Tour stars

As the fallout from one of the craziest weeks the sport has ever seen continues, speculation is rife over what the future of golf will now look like.
Speaking during his hotly anticipated pre-tournament presser at the Canadian Open, Rory McIlroy made his thoughts clear, hoping the merger would now see LIV Golf vanish.
“I still hate LIV. I hope it goes away. And I would fully expect that it does. And I think that’s where the distinction here is. This is the PGA Tour, the DP World Tour and the PIF. Very different from LIV.”
However, per a report from Alan Shipnuck of the FirePit Collective, Rory may not get his wish.
According to Shipnuck, following the merger announcement, a meeting took place where Greg Norman addressed LIV employees and stated that there would be “no operational changes into the future.”
“Norman radiated confidence, saying that the 2024 LIV schedule was nearly finalized. “There will be no operational changes in 2023, 2024, 2025 and into the future,” he said. Then came the mic drop: ‘LIV is a stand-alone entity and will continue to be that moving forward. And that comes right from the top.’
Furthermore, a LIV executive told Shipnuck that every top name will now get a LIV offer but that McIlroy will be snubbed as “nobody wants that little bitch on their team.”
“Now we can finally get Hideki [Matsuyama] and Jon Rahm. I would say every big name on the PGA Tour will get an offer. Except Rory. Nobody wants that little bitch on their team.”
What happens next remains to be seen, but it looks as if the wild and whacky drama is set to continue for quite some time.

Report: Despite rumblings of LIV’s demise, a meeting took place yesterday that tells a different story

After the shocking PGA Tour/DP World Tour/PIF merger, there was plenty of speculation that the deal would put an end to LIV Golf in the near future.
In the PGA Tour meeting Tuesday, commissioner Jay Monahan said “that a full review of LIV’s commercial viability would be conducted at season’s end”. Those who were in the meeting took that as a bad sign for the future of LIV, including Rory, who spoke about LIV in his press conference on Wednesday.
As for Rory McIlroy:
“I still hate LIV,” the four-time major winner said. “I hope it goes away. And I would fully expect that it does. And I think that’s where the distinction here is. This is the PGA Tour, the DP World Tour and the PIF. Very different from LIV.”
Despite the rumors of its demise, Alan Shipnuck of the Firepit Collective wrote on Thursday morning that the feeling after Greg Norman’s press conference with LIV employees that isn’t going anywhere.
Shipnuck, who’s had his ear to the ground for almost two years on everything LIV Golf, shared the feeling he got when watching the Norman-led meeting.
“By way of an opening, he said, ‘Congratulations, you changed golf, and you did it in less than a year.’ The employees on the call had taken huge professional risks to join LIV and were understandably jittery. Norman radiated confidence, saying that the 2024 LIV schedule was nearly finalized. “There will be no operational changes in 2023, 2024, 2025 and into the future,” he said. Then came the mic drop: ‘LIV is a stand-alone entity and will continue to be that moving forward. And that comes right from the top.’
The author of “LIV and Let Die” then explained who is really calling the shots in the world of golf going forward: Yasir Al-Rumayyan.
“The man at the top is not Monahan. Or Rory McIlroy or Tiger Woods. Or the the lords of the Seminole grill room, Jimmy Dunne and Ed Herlihy, who brokered the truce with LIV in their roles as PGA Tour board members. No, Norman was referring to the new boss of all of them, His Excellency Yasir Al-Rumayyan. H.E., as he is referred to around LIV, is the governor of the Saudi Public Investment Fund, which can alter economies and disrupt industries with its $650 billion warchest. He is also the chairman of the board of Aramco, the state oil company, making H.E. easily the most powerful person in the world who is not a head of state. His latest title is chairman of the board of the new PIF-Tour entity.”
“That means Monahan reports to him”.
Per Shipnuck, a high ranking LIV executive describes LIV as “Al-Rumayyan’s baby” and find it hard to believe he would let it disintegrate so quickly after how much effort he put into the venture.
“What people fail to understand is that LIV is H.E.’s baby,” said the LIV executive. “He has poured his heart into its creation.” This included numerous meetings in which Al-Rumayyan fussed over every detail, down to the look of the LIV logo.”
“We all went into the call with our heads hanging low, feeling so defeated,” says the LIV executive. “Then it became like in The Wolf Of Wall Street when Leonardo DiCaprio gives that speech and the whole room goes crazy. When His Excellency finished speaking we were all high-5’ing. It was like, Let’s fucking go! We’re gonna fucking do this!”
Time will tell how it will play out, but as Shipnuck describes, the future of golf is in the hands of Yasir Al-Rumayyan.

how many times did this little dude toss or slam down clubs while out playing on the course? Many is the answer, maybe he should look at his actions before he calls out another….Everyone has a right to be themselves, sure some are not real likable but without them how would we know what nice people are like?

We’re talking about a bunch of millionaires here. Of course, some will act like the spoiled rich kids they are. Others act a bit more mature. They are all great golfers. How about we focus on the task at hand, and set the drama aside for a while? Bryson IS difficult to pair with because he plays a different game than the rest of them. That’s why you may not see him in the 4 ball. There are already two groups that you can bet will play together. Cantlay and Schaffle, Thomas and Spieth.

Let’s see what both do this week

Did anyone even read the article? He was asked how its different from other tournaments and pretty simply said its different and out of the normal routine. I don’t know. Seems like a bunch of ridiculous sensationalizing. See below for the actual Q&A referenced.
For virtually all of your career, you get to set the schedule and make the rules and be responsible for your own performance. How does that mesh with the Ryder Cup experience? Is it strange being on a team?
It’s different. It’s hectic. It’s a bit odd, if I’m honest. I don’t want to say it’s a bad week. We’re just so individualized, and everybody has their routine and a different way of doing things, and now, it’s like, OK, we have to have a meeting at this time or go do this or go do that. It’s the opposite of what happens during a major week. If I break down a major week, it’s so chill. You wouldn’t even believe me. I go to the course. I play nine holes. I go work out. Other than that, I’m sitting and watching TV, taking my mind off golf with relaxing stuff. The physical part, I can handle. The mental side, you have to be able to turn it off. Sometimes, the power comes from being able to turn it on. But for me, I get power from turning it off. That’s been a huge, huge thing for me that I really haven’t understood until the past five or six years of my career.

Agree. Sounds like Koepka is just an introverted guy. People seem to just hate introverted sports stars if do not appease the public with an extroverted persona. In fact, most pro golfers are introverted, so it is really a moot issue. He has said a few controversial things, but what pro hasn’t over their career. I could care less. Personally, I just want to watch great golf and forget all the gossipy fluff stuff.

Koepka is being attacked by defenders of the faith because they can’t support a fellow professional golfer who speaks the truth. Koepka revealed his feelings. He didn’t tell other golfers how they should feel about the Ryder Cup.
PGA Tour golf is a lonely tough gig Week after week of competing against 72 or 144 of the best. It’s a job that players like Koepka are committed to. So of course a bit annual team event of match play is quite different and feels different. Bravo to Koepka for sharing with the fans just how it feels to him. That doesn’t mean he is going to let his team down.
Tim Johnson
Sep 22, 2021 at 10:22 am
Give me a freaking break!!! Speaking the truth is what we hope for from our professional athletes but timing is a critical point in this equation. Dont speak like this about a team event right before a team event. Be a team player and look forward to one week out of their “tough gig” to spend some time for the country. Stop being whining little babies.
PGA being a lonely tough gig is a laugh as well. I travel 95% of my time for my job and I dont have the ability to fly my family with me. It is a lonely gig. PGA players are not lonely – They make so much money now that they can fly their entire entourage with them. They are not traveling alone anymore. This is not the 80’s anymore.
Either way – Brooks is definitely not a team player and would never be on a team sport. He is about one person and golf is that perfect sport with him. I just cannot wait for him to disappear so we can enjoy the players that love to play this great game. Disappear and go on your vacations with your wife.

While Koepka and DeChambeau act like two sides of the same douche coin, it’s difficult to pull for Koepka. He always acts like he wishes he was somewhere else, and seems upset that, while he feels he could’ve been a pro athlete in other sports, was forced into golf.
Just… get the f*ck over it, man. If you don’t like what you’re doing, no one’s forcing you to be there. Go try out for another sport. Skip the Ryder and President Cups. Just don’t act like someone’s holding a gun to your head to do any of this, then act like a petulant child about all of it.

Brooks Koepka is a sissy trying to act like a tough guy. He’s so caught up in his act that he can’t see out. Other than his ability to hit a golf ball well, he’s a nothing wishing he was something other than a full-on DB. Guys like him pick their victims carefully, in the case of Bryson. He knows that Bryson is fragile. I’d like to see him go after someone who can take it. In the meantime, quit undermining your team you little man.
