Collin Morikawa flies commercial with a brand new piece of luggage

Published

on

If watching Collin Morikawa stripe iron shot after iron shot on Sunday at the Open felt about as un-relatable as it gets, the 24-year old superstar might have more in common with us than meets the eye.

Despite a $2.07 million payday last weekend, Morikawa was seen lugging his bags in an Atlanta airport, a friendly reminder that not all PGA Tour pros fly privately.

Matt Adams of Golf Channel and Fairways of Life was quick to point out the reason why the new Champion Golfer of the Year is returning home with an extra carry-on this week. Okay, that part might not be so relatable!

Augusta National is… hiring a bartender?

Published

on

Iconic golf club and host site of the Masters, Augusta National, is in fact hiring, although it is not the type of job we were expecting! That’s right, a recent advertisement is calling for… a bartender.

The ideal candidate must be able to, “provide members and guests with the finest food and drink accompanied by attentive and gracious service, while maintaining the strict confidentiality of all club business.” Sounds about right.

Experience wise, one year of bartending experience is required as well as a high school diploma or equivalent. Other vacancies at the club include a Front Desk Assistant, Cook, and Housekeeper, just to name a few.

Check out how the contents of pro’s bags have changed through the years

Published

on

As technology continues to improve in golf equipment, it is no surprise to see that PGA Tour professionals have adapted and made changes to the contents of their golf bags throughout the years.

Check out this post from @sms_on_tour , who tracked the average clubs used by players over the last 15 Opens, to see what types of clubs have become more popular over the last 15 years.

There are a few major takeaways. Firstly, pro golfers seem to be carrying more wedges these days. Phil Mickelson raised eyebrows when he first experimented with carrying four wedges, yet over the last 15 years, we have seen a steady and progressive trend towards many Tour pros deploying a similar approach.

Secondly, there’s been a clear increase in hybrids/utility irons at the expense of regular 2-irons and 3-irons. In theory, this is not surprising given the technological increases and general playability of today’s top hybrids and driving irons. With that being said, Ben Hogan must be turning over in his grave!
