Tony Finau’s new Ping putter at the Open

Tony Finau had a new Ping flat-stick in the bag last week as he recorded his fourth top-25 Open Championship finish in his fifth start.

The Utah native had most recently been gaming a Piretti Elite Custom putter but played a new Ping blade over the four days at Royal St. Georges.

The new putter is listed on the company’s website as a ‘Ping Prototype Putter PLD Anser 2’, with the following specs: “37 inches, 22.5 degree lie, 5 degree loft”.

Finau currently languishes at 133rd on Tour for Strokes Gained: Putting in 2021, and with his new Ping putter, he recorded his best finish (T15) since May.

You won’t believe how much money John Daly was offered to “tank” the Open

Golf gambling is indubitably on the rise, yet how aware the actual players are of its mainstream integration has always been a fascinating topic.

Tour pros are certainly heckled all of the time by angry golf bettors, but rarely have we seen a situation where the stakes were this high.

Check out this video below to find out what John Daly was offered to tank the Open Championship. Spoiler alert, it happened in the year that he won the tournament, and makes you wonder what other offers have been made since…

Safe to say he made the right decision.

Johnny Manziel’s golf journey continues at the upcoming Texas State Open

Former Heisman winning quarterback and first-round NFL draft pick Johnny Manziel just accepted a sponsor’s exemption to play in the Higginbotham Texas State Open.

It’s a tournament that should have special meaning to Manziel, as it will be held at the Cascades Club in Tyler, Texas, where Manziel is originally from. This will be the former Cleveland Browns quarterback’s fourth start in this tournament. He has missed the cut in all three previous appearances.

Manziel has spoken openly about how incredibly committed he is to improving his golf game and competing at a high level. “I have been working hard on my game and I look forward to seeing how it stacks up against an incredibly strong field of professionals and amateurs. I grew up in Tyler and have played countless rounds at The Cascades Club.”

The tournament kicks off on July 27, and follows a standard 72-hole stroke play format. Tony Romo joins Manziel as another sponsor’s exemption, and both former NFL quarterbacks will be competing against 154 other professionals and amateurs for a purse of $200,000.
