Bryson DeChambeau: ‘What’s in my unique bag’

Published

on

Bryson DeChambeau’s new YouTube channel is providing his fans with some awesome content since its launch earlier this year, and his latest video is a gearhead’s dream.

In his latest video, Bryson takes viewers through his bag in stunning detail with lots of different cool nuggets – including his carry length, prototypes he’s working on with Cobra, and how people confuse “loft jacking”.

Wedges

“I can’t talk too much about the wedges per contractual obligations, but they are unique…and have new LA Golf shafts, the stiffest shaft on the market.”

His shaft setup earlier this month was:

Wedges: Artisan Prototype (50 @47, 55 @52, 60 @58), Shafts: LA Golf Rebar Proto shaft

Irons

Bryson plays Cobra’s King Forged Tour One Length irons throughout the bag (as well as LA Golf Shafts), but says “soon enough we’ll be switching because there’s a new iteration coming out, that’s better than this.”

The 27-year-old also explained how the face of his irons are ground off because he has a lot of dig in his off-swing. Bryson explains that he tries to make the face as blunt as possible so that “it bounces and skims through the surface.”

On his irons being “loft jacked”, Bryson explains that the reason for this is because of the swing speed and spin rates that he is producing, with his irons being de-lofted to help control loft and spin.

Irons: Cobra King One Length Utility (4, 5), Cobra King Forged Tour One Length (6-PW), Shafts: LA Golf Rebar Proto (37.5 inches)

Woods

His hybrid is a Cobra King SZ Tour which he calls “old trusty” and that he flies 275-280 yards.

Bryson’s 3-wood Cobra King Prototype B (10.5 degrees) is a raw prototype with welded on rails and a shaved toe that is coming out later this year.

On his “beast” driver, Bryson unveiled a Cobra King LTD at 6.5 degrees, but he is also testing another couple of heads.

One of those heads is a beta prototype that he says is “very, very close to being what we want.” Adding that, the “unique face” is “really, really fast. We’re getting close, but we’re not there yet. It’s a head that I’ll be using in the near future.”

Putter

On his SIK Pro C-Series Armlock putter, DeChambeau credits Matt Kuchar for the inspiration behind using the flat-stick. Though Bryson says he tries to resemble a machine when putting, he says he feels the putts by altering the length of his stroke.

Bryson also goes through his sponsors, and accessories which includes a ruler, which he says helps him control his length of stroke, a detail which he again says is where feel in the stroke emerges.

You know I really cannot stand this guy while playing. He is always playing for the camera and his hands on the hip, look up to the sky and flutter his eyes as of its a movie he is filimg.

But this was quite entertaining and I wonder if I am just overreacting!
