Rickie Fowler shares his thoughts on ‘interesting’ Super Golf League

Published

on

While Rory McIlroy and Justin Thomas have ruled themselves out of joining a Saudi backed Super Golf League, others have had their interest piqued and are waiting to hear more details on the proposals.

Phil Mickelson has said that he is intrigued by the idea, and now Rickie Fowler has revealed his interest in the potential breakaway Super Golf League.

“It’s definitely interesting. I think there’s a lot that needs to happen for it to even move forward of any sort, and at the same time I think competition can be a good thing.

I do think that the PGA Tour is the premier place to be playing against the best players in the world. Could it get better? I’m sure this wouldn’t be coming up if someone didn’t think that there were ways that certain things could be better.”

Though PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan has threatened that any players committing to a breakaway tour could face expulsion from the PGA Tour, it hasn’t stopped players voicing their interest in the SGL. For Rickie, he’s happy to wait and see what develops.

“For a super golfer league of some sort to move forward, it would definitely need at least a handful of guys to be going that direction, or committed or whatever it may be. I don’t know of anything like that right now.

I can’t say that I’m in, out or whatever. I still think the Tour is the best place to be. We’ll see what happens, but I’m happy where we are.”

This stuff is just money for the sake of money. Ludicrous. It failed miserably when Greg Norman tried it, and it’s failing miserably for the European Super League (football/”soccer”).

Just more examples of millionaires being out of touch with the world. You’d think we’d have had enough of it by now… into our second year of a p-demic.

PLANdemic, fake virus and stolen election are all reasons these millionaires are out of touch.

PLANdemic and fake virus are to thank for these out of touch people, and when the election was stolen they became even more out of touch. You’re RACIST if you question the election results!

If they are no cut events that would bode well for Rickie.

Headline should be “Golfer outside the Top 100 comments on the PGL/SGL”. Lol, this guy is ALL about the money hence why instead of working on his game he is shooting 50 commercials a year all while missing cuts left and right. Go get the bag, Rick. Money buys happiness right?

As someone who used to be broke and is comfortable now, yes, having money makes me much happier.

Having also been on both sides of the coin. I can attest. Whats the song say? “It can buy me a boat”. I have yet to see an unhappy person on a nice well functioning boat.

“Leverage coupons” is what i like to call it. And leverage makes EVERYTHING/ situation infinitely easier

Check out the plaque honoring Tiger Woods’ 2008 U.S. Open heroics at Torrey Pines

Published

Tiger Woods may not be at Torrey Pines this week, but the 15-time major champion will always be synonymous with the venue primarily because of his epic win at the 2008 U.S. Open.

The 45-year-old’s heroics that week at Torrey Pines will never be forgotten, as Woods defied all the odds on a fractured leg to win his 14th major.

To honor that victory, the USGA and city of San Diego will host a ceremony today, which will include the unveiling of a plaque celebrating Woods’ stunning 12-foot putt to force a playoff at the 2008 U.S. Open.

The ceremony will be hosted by San Diego mayor Todd Gloria, San Diego city council president Jennifer Campbell and United States Golf Association president Stu Francis and will take place at Torrey Pines’ 18th green.

Bryson on ‘Brooksy’ shouts: ‘I love it, I think it’s hilarious’

Published

on

Bryson DeChambeau will begin the defence of his U.S. Open title tomorrow at Torrey Pines amid an ongoing feud with Brooks Koepka.

The 27-year-old began receiving the heckling shouts of “Brooksy” at the Memorial where it was reported that fans participating in the shouts were being removed from the course by security.

At Torrey Pines this week, Bryson has been discussing the “Brooksy” shouts as well as the fans involved, as the rivalry between the two shows no signs of cooling off.

“I’m always going to be trying to play my game and not really worry too much about what other people are doing. I think there are just times where, if it gets outside the scope of just integrity and honour, yeah, that can get a little interesting.

At the same point in time, all of it’s been good fun. It’s been fun. Shoot, to be honest, people saying Brooksy’s name out there, I love it. I think it’s hilarious.”

The pair have been kept apart for the opening two rounds of the event, much to the disappointment of many fans. However, Bryson is already thinking ahead to the weekend, where a blockbuster pairing could grab plenty of new eyeballs.

“There’s a point where it’s great banter,. I personally love it. I think that, as time goes on, I hope on the weekend we can play against each other and compete. I think it would be fun and would be great for the game.”
