Interesting photos from Monday at The Players

Published

on

This week, the PGA Tour is at TPC Sawgrass for the one and only Players Championship. It’s one of the biggest tournaments of the year (the fifth major, as they say!), and GolfWRX was in position to spy some interesting things from the grounds and around the practice area as players are tuning up to to battle for the $15 million purse.

Don’t forget you can check out all our image galleries in the GolfWRX Tour Equipment forum.

Adam Scott loves testing

Adam Scott loves to test equipment. This once-shy-to-test-week-to-week player is slowly becoming more open to trying something new, and it seems to be paying off.

Maverick McNealy’s prototype irons

Austin Cook has an appropriate alignment stick cover

In the lovable words of one of the world’s favorite furry muppets “COOKIES!!!”

Lucas Glover is mixing it up

Former Nike and then Mizuno staffer Lucas Glover is a full gear free agent this year, and what a mixed bag he has. This is the kind of thing equipment junkies love to see.

Callaway’s next driving iron?

This Callaway X-Forged driving iron is currently a “tour only” part make exclusive for players at the highest level, but based on its popularity in players’ bags, maybe it has some potential in the market.

This is a putter stumper

I have seen a lot of putters in my day, but without a close up of this left-handed gem, even us at GolfWRX are truly unsure of its origin.
UPDATE: Thanks to a couple some sharp-eyed golfers for reminding us this 2015 TaylorMade Spider OS.

There it is, still in the bag!

Consider this the weekly report that Jason Dufner’s Titleist 915F 7-wood is still alive and well—and while we’re all here, let’s also admire his custom Cobra forged CB irons.

So many clubs

This Callaway staffer looked like he was holding a yard sale on the range, but in reality, it was just a very in-depth dialing in session.

Don’t try this at home

Professional golfers endorse all kinds of useful training aids, but for all you regular golfers out there, I don’t suggest trying this at home—unless you are looking to tear an Achilles tendon.

An oldie but a goodie

It’s rare to see classic stainless steel Ping putters in the bags of pros, but this Anser 4 looks to be an original vintage. With the fast greens at TPC Sawgrass, its lighter head weight could come in handy.

Those McNealy protos look like Blueprints with Callaway stamps and the Swingweight weights.

I’m guessing that’s Oosthuizen rocking the vintage Anser.

The putter stumper is the TaylorMade OS Spider, released around 2016.
