New for 2021: Callaway Apex and Apex Pro hybrids

Published

on

Callaway Golf has launched its hybrids for 2021: the Apex and Apex Pro, both of which feature the brand’s all-new Jailbreak artificial intelligence Velocity Blades.

2021 Callaway Apex Hybrids

The Apex hybrids from Callaway (like the woods) feature Jailbreak A.I. Velocity Blades that are engineered to increase vertical stiffness near the club’s sole in design to create more speed low on the face where players often mishit their hybrids.

The A.I. Blades aim to allow the face cup to flex on the crown to promote better spin rate consistency and contain bars spread to encourage torsional stiffness and create added forgiveness across the clubface.

Equipped with an A.I. designed flash face SS21, the Apex hybrids are engineered to increase speed on both on and off center hits.

Each loft offering contains significant tungsten weighting. In doing so, Callaway’s R&D team could precisely position the center of gravity lower to create high launch and forgiveness on off-center strikes.

The new Apex hybrids from Callaway come with an adjustable hosel in design to help players optimize loft, control, and trajectory for maximum versatility.

2021 Callaway Apex Pro Hybrids

The hybrids also contain a forged 455 high strength face cup to provide strength and flexibility, with the face designed to offer players speed and spin consistently across the face.

Also, the hybrid’s fixed hosel provides players with a hybrid that offers a more iron-like appearance from address.

What GolfWRXers are saying about Matt Kuchar’s red Bridgestone driver

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been discussing Matt Kuchar’s red driver from the recent WGC Match Play. The driver has been identified as the six-year-old Bridgestone J815 driver that he gamed a few years ago, and our members have been discussing the driver as well as Kuchar’s current setup in our forums.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • Sandy cheeks: “I loved that driver. It hit a beautiful draw every time just wasn’t too long. Probably the only driver I will never get rid of. Still bring it out on occasion for right courses.”
  • 03trdblack: “The J815 came out in 2015 if I remember correctly, and they did offer a black color to the Japanese market. Much better in black IMO.”
  • Valtiel: “I think it just speaks more to what he wants/feels comfortable with. Kuchar is not a big hitter, nor does he need maximum spin reduction; his needs are going to be much different than the more powerful guys out there. Not to mention it has been well established that he often uses older stuff.”

Puma Golf unveils new Ignite ProAdapt golf shoe

Published

on

Puma Golf and Rickie Fowler have designed a new Ignite ProAdapt golf shoe which is now available at retail.

The shoe features Pumas’s all-new Adapt Foam, designed to deliver stable cushioning, high energy return and excellent ground-feel.

The new proprietary foam utilizes a mixture of the highest-grade EVA cushioning mixed with Styrene, an impact-resistant foam that aims to provide excellent dimensional stability and stable cushioning. The combination of the two materials seeks to offer high energy return and ground feel.

The ProAdapts’s outsole utilizes Dual-Durometer Tornado Cleats designed to deliver excellent traction, along with torsional stability provided from the full-length ProAdapt TPU outsole, which aims to provide balance and a stable foundation throughout the swing.

The shoe also features a premium, full-grain leather upper design, preferred by Rickie Fowler. Fowler debuted these ProAdapt shoes on Tour earlier this season and will continue to wear them throughout 2021.

The ProAdapt Delta’s are available in four eye-catching colorways (White, Black/Quiet Shade, White/Gray Violet and White/Navy Blazer) and feature a retail price of $200. You can buy the new additions here.

In addition to the core ProAdapt’s, Puma Golf will introduce several limited-edition versions throughout the year, including an LE pair inspired by the first Major of the year.
