Tommy Fleetwood joins TaylorMade’s tour staff

Published

on

Yes, that’s Tommy Fleetwood holding a bottle of shampoo in the featured image, but we’ll get to that.

One of the worst-kept secrets in golf (or at least our small corner of the golf world) is now officially declassified: Tommy Fleetwood is a member of TaylorMade’s tour staff, the company announced via social media, Monday.

You can see the skit, which features the well-coiffed Mr. Fleetwood and TM’s (well-bearded) Senior Tour Technician Wade Liles, below.

The Englishman responded to the tweet with the following (all credit for the use of “hirsute” in a tweet in the year 2020).

Fleetwood, who migrated from his beloved Nike VR Pro blades to a set of TaylorMade P7TW irons—and then to a set of TaylorMade TF Proto irons (below) earlier this year—has been without an equipment contract since Nike Golf exited the hard goods business in August of 2016.

Nearly all of TaylorMade’s tour staff is full bag, so it will be interesting to see what Fleetwood settles on in the woods, wedges, and putter department.

TaylorMade’s PGA Tour staff includes Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Dustin Johnson, Collin Morikawa, Matthew Wolff, Jon Rahm, and Jason Day.

Wondering when that news is going to break proper. Good score for Callaway

GolfWRX is on site this week at the Valero Texas Open.

The event has been around since 1922, making it one of the oldest on the PGA Tour calendar. Over the years, it’s been held at a variety of courses across the Lone Star State, but it’s found its home at TPC San Antonio in recent years. Some of the biggest names in golf have taken home the title here, including Arnold Palmer, Ben Hogan, Lee Trevino, and Ben Crenshaw.

GolfWRX has its usual assortment of general galleries, WITBs and special pull-out albums. As always, we’ll continue to update the links below as more photos come in from TPC San Antonio.
