What GolfWRXers are saying about the best feeling/softest irons

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been discussing some of the best feeling and softest irons. WRXer ‘leftycabe’ is a lefty on the hunt for a new set of irons and has asked fellow members which of the following irons are the best feeling:

  • Miura 801
  • Mizuno MP20 sel
  • Mizuno 921 sel (tour)
  • PXG 0311 T (gen 3)
  • Titleist 620 CB
  • Titleist T-100

And our members have been having their say on the matter in the thread.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • Go_Time: “I’ve hit them all, and Srixon 785 has been the softest.”
  • iNeedMoreGolf: “Ok, so the best answer I can give you is the Mizuno mp MMC 20. I’ve hit a lot of irons this past year all head to head… nothing, and I mean nothing was softer to me than the mp mmc20. From 4 iron down to PW and that’s rare in my opinion to have each iron be consistently the same amount of soft throughout the set. Not just soft but a soft that’s different than the rest and still very informative on what you put into the shot.”
  • bunta: “Softest? Everythings pretty soft when you hit the middle. Best feeling? Srixon 785. By far.”
  • BCULAW: “Z785s are pillow soft with the right shaft. Add the v-sole, and it is a feel player’s dream.”
  • HSTNGolfer: “Another set to consider is Wilson Staff Model blades. Tried everything, except the Miuras, at a golf Expo in February and the Wilsons felt the best to me.”

Entire Thread: “Best feeling/softest irons”

The only way to get a true test with accurate results is to hit the clubs yourself with the same shaft and ball. You can get all the opinions you want, but until you try it for yourself, disregard the comments! Are these “testers” hitting a 2-3-4-5 piece ball? That does make a difference. Are they hitting an R-S-X shaft? How about shaft weight? Then there are the variables, including strength, of the “testers”. Go to a pro for a fitting, try different shafts on each head, and hit the ball you consistently use.
