Adidas launches limited-edition ZX 8000 Golf shoe

Published

on

Adidas Golf has unveiled the first-ever ZX model built for golf – the limited-edition ZX 8000 Golf.

The Adidas Originals’ ZX series, first released in 1984, was born from the idea that runners need a variety of footwear options depending on the type of run, surface or training they were looking to accomplish. Built from that philosophy, Adidas Golf has created the ZX 8000 Golf blending style with technology.

The new release features the brand’s patented Torsion System – designed for added stability – a responsive BOOST midsole, and vibrant colorways (clear aqua/shock yellow with pops of purple).

The shoes contain water-resistant materials in the upper to help offer protection from the elements, and a spikeless outsole which is built upon the original grip pattern. This outsole features golf-specific secondary lugs and a more aggressive tread pattern in design to provide added grip and stability along with comfort.

In addition, the ZX 8000 Golf shoe features a lace jewel with the words “ZX GOLF” at the bottom of the eyestay, a leather toecap, as well as an Adidas Golf logo on the heel and sockliner.

Speaking on the new footwear, Masun Denison, global footwear director, Adidas Golf said

“As the original sports brand, we are in a unique position to draw on our extensive archives for inspiration. The ZX was always meant to challenge the way people thought about running performance, and we wanted to do the same with golf footwear by pushing the limits with technology and fashion. Offering the ZX 8000 Golf is just another example of how we combine sports heritage, performance and lifestyle to ultimately push golf fashion in a more progressive way.”

The limited-edition ZX 8000 Golf ($130) will be available via Adidas.com, the Adidas app and at select retailers outside of the U.S. beginning September 4 at 8 a.m. PT.

That’s not a golf shoe. It provides nothing one would ask for in a shoe specific for golf. How does this differ from a running shoe or training flats?

I want three things, in this order, from a golf shoe: 1. Traction. 2. Stability. 3. Comfort.

I don’t want a shoe I can wear to the store after a round. I don’t want a shoe that sacrifices 1 and 2 in favor of 3. I want a shoe that will not slip and will provide me with lateral stability. If it doesn’t make my feet hurt, all the better.

Again, this isn’t a golf shoe. It’s a slipper with laces.

Best looking pear-shaped 3 wood of all time? – GolfWRXers discuss

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been discussing pear-shaped 3 woods. WRXer ‘GolferDude54’ kicks off the thread, saying:

“I was interested in knowing what 3 wood in the present and past do you guys think has had the best looking profile at address and is pear-shaped to boot, i.e. Titleist 906F2. Like you look down at address, and it just oozes of being aesthetically pleasing to your eye. You can even post more than one 3-wood and a list as well if you are torn between this and that.”

And our members have been sharing their best picks in our forum.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • Dill Pickelson: “I owned the 906f2 and agree it was a perfect looking 3 wood at address. I currently play the rogue st ls 3 wood and also think it looks great at address. This is exactly how I want a 3 wood to look, no triangular 3 woods, no closed face or slight offsets. I also liked the Ping i20 3 wood. It sat very nicely behind the ball.”
  • hammergolf: “Hard to beat the Titleist PT. Had one in the bag for almost a decade.”
  • Boogs2: “I’ve always liked the Nike T60. Still have one with the steel shaft. Loved how deep-faced it was.”
  • puresurfr: “Titleist 970, love the shape, and it was like a sledgehammer when hit on the screws. Honorable mention for Nike T60.”

Coolest thing for sale in the GolfWRX Classifieds (8/11/22): Tiger Woods MG3 TaylorMade wedges

Published

on

At GolfWRX, we are a community of like-minded individuals that all experience and express our enjoyment of the game in many ways.

It’s that sense of community that drives day-to-day interactions in the forums on topics that range from best driver to what marker you use to mark your ball. It even allows us to share another thing we all love – buying and selling equipment.

Currently, in our GolfWRX buy/sell/trade (BST) forum, there is a listing for a pair of Tiger Woods MG3 TaylorMade wedges

From the seller (@tincup_jeff): “Tiger Woods MG3 wedges.  These are new, never hit.  Wish I didn’t take the damn plastic off, or else I would just send it back to TaylorMade for my $425 refund.  I just can’t play a 56/ 60 combo, I’m not good enough.  These wedges are absolutely beautiful to look at and sit perfectly on the ground. 1 flat, and +.25”, standard Loft.  Golf pride MCC Midsized grip.  KBS 120S shafts. I would prefer to sell them together.  $365 shipped.  I paid $429 for them a week ago through TaylorMade.”

This is the most impressive current listing from the GolfWRX BST, and if you are curious about the rules to participate in the BST Forum you can check them out here: GolfWRX BST Rules
