Puma launches new collection paying homage to the 3 host cities of the 2020 FedEx Cup playoff events
Puma Golf has unveiled a limited-edition collection paying tribute to the three host cities of this season’s FedEx Cup playoff events: Boston, Chicago and Atlanta.
The new collection is comprised of six caps, three pairs of shoes and one crewneck, each of which all pay homage in some way to one of the three host cities.
BOSTON SERIES:
City Snapback Cap ($35)
The Boston City snapback features a 90’s style script hat vibe on a snapback design. This playoff-themed cap features “Boston” in Kelly Green text on a white background with a green brim. The green colorway reflects Boston’s proud Irish heritage and pays homage to the city’s hoops team.
Fishing Company Adjustable Cap ($32)
Constructed from a canvas-like material that pays tribute to the proud fishing mecca that is Beantown, this all-white, relaxed fit cap features a new “PUMA Fishing Co.” patch in Shade and Kelly Green. Accents also include a lobster puma seam tape.
IGNITE NXT Lobstah Pot Shoes ($140)
Puma’s IGNITE NXT Lobstah Pot shoes draw inspiration from the lobster traps found in the waters surrounding Boston during the lobster-fishing season. Along with the TPU film and PWRCAGE saddle is a woodgrain emboss, inspired by the wooden pots that fishermen use.
Bright colored laces and collar binding represent the multi-colored strings used on the pot posts. The lobster print on the inside of the PWRCAGE represents a bountiful catch, while the outsole features lobster claws, and the sock liner graphic shows the catch of the day at its final stage before the plate: the boiling pot.
CHICAGO SERIES:
City Snapback Cap ($35)
Also a throwback to mid-80’s-90’s style script hats in a modern Tour-preferred snapback design. This special-edition playoff-themed City Cap features “Chicago” in Blue on a white background with a coordinating blue brim, paying homage to the Chicago Cubs.
Transit 110 Snapback Cap ($32)
A transit, 5-panel cap that takes design inspiration from the Chicago Transit Authority. This hat features a Puma Transit Woven patch on the front in CTA blue and four red stars from the Chicago city flag on the side.
IGNITE PWRADAPT Caged CTA Shoes ($170)
Olympia Fields Country Club, host of the 2020 BMW Championship, can be reached by train from downtown Chicago. Thus, the IGNITE PWRADAPT Caged CTA pays tribute to the Chicago Transit Authority. The outsole features a full map of the CTA, highlighting where Olympia Fields lies in relation to the various transit lines. The upper features a white colorway while the TPU PWRCAGE is back-painted with an image of the Chicago city flag.
ATLANTA SERIES:
City Snapback Cap ($35)
The Atlanta City snapback is also a retro-style cap in a Tour-preferred snapback package. This playoff-themed City Cap features “Atlanta” in Bright Red on a white background with a coordinating red brim, that is typical of all Atlanta’s professional sports teams’ identities.
p110 Snapback Cap ($32)
This retro designed Atlanta P Cap features a solid red body and tonal ‘p’ logo on the front with crossed golf clubs on the side, with the red being a distinct ode to Georgia’s capital city’s sports teams.
IGNITE PROADAPT ATL Shoes
These shoes pay homage to the local Atlanta sports teams applying the “hot” red that is used across all the local sports teams. These kicks feature P logos in a font familiar to diehard Atlanta sports fans, paired with crossed golf clubs throughout the shoe.
Crewneck ($80)
The Express Crewneck is designed with a soft french terry fabric with a “Puma Express” graphic that incorporates colors from each of the FedexCup host cities.
Puma Golf’s 2020 FedExCup Collection drops with the Boston Series on August 18. Check out pumagolf.com for more details.

Why Ben Griffin is making the surprising switch to a Maxfli golf ball
Ben Griffin might be a little too young to remember some of the iconic Maxfli golf balls that won on tour, but that isn’t stopping him from putting the newest Tour X ball from the brand in play. Today, Maxfli and Griffin announced an exclusive partnership that will see the PGA Tour player using the company’s four-piece golf ball.
While Griffin might be the first PGA Tour player to put a new Maxfli golf ball in play, he isn’t the first profesional golfer to do so. Lexi Thompson has been playing the Maxfli Tour golf ball on the LPGA Tour since the beginning of the 2024.

We caught up with Ben at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson in Texas this week to ask him about the new ball switch.
“I was able to finally get my hands on some and try it and immediately I saw faster ball speed with the driver, which is always something every golfer wants to see.
“Then I had to test a lot around the greens and test irons, test spins, test everything like that. Basically, I came to the conclusion that I thought this was probably one of the best golf balls for my game.
“And so I decided to make it official and partner with them and very excited to help kind of launch this golf ball and see where it takes us.”
Griffin’s ball of choice is the Maxfli Tour X, a four-piece golf ball that is made for highly skilled players that want consistent distance off the driver and spin around the green. An updated core design helps add the ball speed that Griffin mentioned and two ionomer mantle layers separate low spin driver shots from higher spin iron and wedge shots. Maxfli uses Center Of center-of-gravity balancing to ensure each ball has consistent flight in the air and roll on the green. Like all golf balls on tour, the Tour X features a cast urethane cover for maximum performance, and it has a tetrahedron dimple pattern to enhance aerodynamics.
It is exciting to see a golf ball at a lower price point — $39.99 at Golf Galaxy — being used by a top 100 ranked player in the world like Ben Griffin, and equipment junkies will be keenly watching his performance with the new ball.
