Important announcement regarding the GolfWRX forums!
Dear GolfWRX Members,
Last year, in an effort to improve the capability of our forums, we switched to new software. We expected tremendous scalability and rapid customization that would significantly improve each Member’s experience across multiple devices and integrate flawlessly with social media platforms.
Unfortunately, after a significant capital expense, we have decided that the length of time and the additional cost to reach our goals make this enterprise untenable.
Thus, we have made the difficult decision to transition the forums to our original software platform. We’re excited that, in the nearly two years since we began the process of our most recent switch, our original platform has been upgraded significantly, and we are confident that the reversion will not only provide the stability that we desperately needed prior to our last move but will also return to the Membership the high level of customization that made our online community so great. We have also added technical resources to the GolfWRX staff that will allow us to build custom modules and modifications that we are confident will take the forums to the next level.
We remain the world’s largest online golf community, and we still hold true to our core values and mission statement as written in 2005. Bearing both of those elements in mind, being the best and offering our Members a platform that is world-class are both requirements, not options, and it is that spirit that has motivated this decision.
So, please pardon our mess over the next five days or so while we transition the forums.
A few important notes: Current content will be accessible during that time, but the forums will be READ ONLY, and you will not be able to start new threads or reply to posts. Personal Messaging is enabled, but PMs sent/received from the time the board was frozen will not carry over. We know this is inconvenient, and we apologize, and we greatly appreciate GolfWRXers bearing with us through the transition.
We are very excited about starting this next chapter for GolfWRX and getting back to the high-quality Member experience we all expect as soon as possible.

Masters 2024: Reduced-scale clubhouse trophy and green jacket to Scottie Scheffler
In the world of golf, there is Scotty and there is Scottie. Scotty Cameron gave the world of golf a nickname for a prestigious putter line, and Scottie Scheffler has now given the golf world a blueprint for how to negotiate one of the toughest tournaments to win. Sunday, Scheffler won the Masters tournament for the second time in three years. He separated from the field around the turn, making a trio of birdies at holes eight through 10. On the long walk home, he added three more birdie at 13, 14, and 16, to secure a four-shot win over Masters and major-championship rookie Ludvig Åberg.

As the final group moved along the ninth hole, a quadrilateral stood at 7 under par, tied for the lead. Scheffler, playing partner Collin Morikawa, and penultimate pairing Max Homa and Åberg advanced equally toward Amen Corner, with the resolution of the competition well in doubt. Morikawa flinched first, getting too greedy (his words) at nine and 11. Double bogey at each dropped him farther back than he wished, and he ultimately made a 10-foot putt for bogey at the last, to tie for third position.
Ludvig Åberg made the next mistake. Whether he knew the Ben Hogan story about the approach into 11 or not, he bit off way more than he should have. His approach was never hopeful, and ended short and right in White Dogwood’s pond. Åberg finished the hole in six shots. To his credit, he played the remaining seven holes in two-under figures. Finally, Max Homa was the victim of the finicky winds over Golden Bell, the short, par-3 12th hole. His disbelief was evident, as his tee shot flew everything and landed in azaleas behind the putting surface. After two pitch shots and two putts, Homa also had a double bogey, losing shots that he could not surrender.
Why? At the ninth hole, Scottie Scheffler hit one of the finest approach shots of all time, into the final green of the first nine. Scheffler had six inches for birdie and he converted. At the 10th, he lasered another approach shot into a tricky hole location, then made another fine putt for birdie. Within the space of 30 minutes, Scheffler had seized complete control of the tournament, but Amen Corner still lurked.

At the 11th, Scheffler played safely right with his approach. His chip shot was a wee bit too brave and left him a seven-foot comeback putt for par. He missed on the right side and gave one shot back to the course and field. His tee ball on 12 was safely aboard, and he took two putts for par. On 13, the 2022 champion drove slightly through the fairway, then reached the green, with his first two shots. His seventy-foot-plus putt for eagle eased up, four feet past the hole. His second putt went down, and he was back in the birdie zone. As on nine, his approach to 14 green finished brilliantly within six inches. His final birdie came at the 16th, where he negotiated a nine-foot putt for a deuce.

Scheffler reached 11 under par and stood four shots clear of Ludvig Åberg when he reached the 18th tee. His drive found the lower fairway bunker on the left, and his approach settled in a vale, short and right of the green. With dexterous hands, Scheffler pitched to three feet and made the putt for par. With a big smile, he embraced caddie Ted Scott, who won for the fourth time at Augusta National, and the second with Scheffler. Ludvig Åberg finished alone in second spot, four back of the winner. Not a bad performance for the first-time major championship participant Åberg, and not a bad finish for the world No. 1 and second-time Masters champion, Scottie Scheffler.

“The next five days or so.”
Many of us remember the long slog to version 2.0. If the forums are back in less than a week, I will be shocked.
What is going on at Golfwrx that they are incapable of performing a proper upgrade?

Excellent news if a bit late. I honestly don’t know how Vanilla software works for anyone nor how the company survives. It is a very user-unfriendly platform and the support model sets organizations up for disaster. Hope this transition is smoother for users.

I wish that the first page was the latest comments and they filed back instead of page 11 being the latest and 1 the first.

Please, one thing to consider is making your information available to all people regardless of abilities or disabilities. Someone who is blind may still enjoy your site if they can use a screen reader and keyboard. Someone who has mobility issues may be forced to use a keyboard always or some other device for input. If your site does not always allow that it is frustrating. You may also open yourself to litigation as the American’s with Disability Act (ADA) may be invoked in a lawsuit for discrimination.
So a little thought and care would be appreciated.

The moral of the story here is that you didn’t listen or learn from mistakes.
Genuine constructive feedback was met with hostility and aggression. Take a quick look at the threads on ads in threads for evidence.
Forum site visits have hit rock bottom I bet. Fingers crossed 3.0 works better!

Please tell me the next thing you are going to do is remove the SUPER ANNOYING pop ups at the bottom of the screen when reading your articles. The video one, at least you can close, but the “Read Next Article” one doesn’t have an “X” to close, and the user experience is awful, especially when reading on an iPad!

Totally agree with this comment, the amount of adverts on this site makes it almost un-usable at times and the amount of time they take to load means that I do not use WRX anywhere as often as I used to, please get rid of EVERY pop up

Will we get our feedback from BST transactions back that were discontinued with the “new” format???

Amen, I have been away from the community since the changeover to the “improved” version. My old man, God rest his sole, once said if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Looking forward to the new old normal again!

Bout time!!! I went from logging on almost daily and interacting in the forums to MAYBE logging in 3-4 times since “update” and im not the only one. Hopefully this transition goes MUCH smoother than the dumpster fire of the last one.

About damn time! The new forum software is horrible compared to what we had before. I noticed a decline in activity during and after the switchover. Advance notice would’ve been appreciated for ongoing BST transactions though–I feel like that’s a big driver of activity.

For hose of us who were in the middle of BST transactions, a little notice would have been appreciated. “Beginning at 6PM EST tonight, the forums will be read only……”
Not too hard – other web sites do it all the time for maintenance……

We all know who the tech is really designed to work for. Google can track your every keystroke, but try to hold a Z**m meeting without freezes, dropouts and bombing… As long as the ads work, the coder’s job is done.
