Bryson DeChambeau’s stunning stock yardages for each club in 2020

It’s well known that Bryson DeChambeau’s weight gain over the past year has resulted in remarkable distance gains driver wise, but what about his other clubs?
Talking to GolfTV, DeChambeau broke down his stock yardages for 2020, and as you can see below, the numbers are impressive across the board.
Speaking at last week’s RBC Heritage, DeChambeau broke down how his stunning distance gains afforded him different luxuries at Harbour Town, including a two club change at 17 from previous years and not having to hit driver on a par 5 to get home in two.
“It’s just a complete quantum shift for me that just allows me to go at things that I usually are not able to go at.
Just for example, I hit 3-wood, 4-iron on 5 ( par-5 542-yard hole), another one. That’s a perfect example. That’s definitely different for me. I never thought I’d be doing that in my lifetime.”
However, DeChambeau’s immense driving was tempered last week by Harbour Town’s tight fairways, with the 5-time winner on Tour not hitting his driver once during Friday’s second round (he still shot 64).
Following that round, the 26-year-old stated that he “didn’t let the Kraken out today”. But you can expect to see that change this week at the Travelers Championship.

Study finds golf fans are the angriest sports fans on social media

Hop on to social media during a live sporting event, and emotions are spilling over, but when it comes to golf, the prominent feeling is often anger and frustration.
That is down to gambling, and according to a new study from OnlineGambling.Ca, golf supporters are the angriest on social media, with 42% of all tweets about the sport being classified as an angry comment.
The study also found that cricket and ice hockey fans show the most love for their team, with 38% of their social media posts being filled with love. Basketball fans seem to be the saddest with their teams’ results, with 38% of reactions being unhappy.
If you have ever gambled on golf or been on social media during an event, the results are probably less surprising to those that haven’t!

Nick Faldo takes ‘unnecessary’ swipe at Rickie Fowler on social media

Rickie Fowler’s 2021 hasn’t begun as he’d hoped, with just one top-20 finish in five starts leaving him now sitting 65th in the Official World Golf Rankings.
As an appearance at the 2021 Masters event looks more and more unlikely, the 32-year-old opened up on his frustrations with his game and himself, telling reporters before this week’s Arnold Palmer Invitational:
“It’s very frustrating. It’s made it at times tough between Joe and I on the course. We have a great relationship, we have known each other for a long time, but when I’m out there, and I’m not hitting shots that I’m visualizing and seeing, it’s hard.
It’s tough for all of us that are involved, from my caddie, to my wife—she’s having to deal with me at home.”
In a strange twist, Fowler’s openness about his frustration has led to the 6-time major champ, now turned golf analyst Nick Faldo taking a swipe at the Californian.
In a tweet responding to Fowler’s words in an article on Golf Digest, Faldo sarcastically posted: “Good news is if he misses the Masters he can shoot another six commercials that week!”
Faldo’s tweet has split users on the social media site, with some people describing the comments as “unnecessary” and “lacking respect”, while others have interpreted the statement as playful ribbing.
However, Faldo then doubled down on his take after receiving criticism from some golf fans, making reference to his three green jacket victories – with Fowler still searching for his maiden major win.
With Rickie needing to crack the top-50 in the world to qualify for the Masters, maybe Faldo’s comment will spark the revival needed, starting this week at Bay Hill.

Claude Harmon III explains why he was fired by Brooks Koepka

Brooks Koepka and Claude Harmon III’s split was a surprise when it was announced in January, and the swing coach has given his view on the break up this week on The Filthy Lipout Golf Podcast.
On the podcast, Harmon III stated that he believed that Brooks “wanted to hear something different”, bringing an end to their highly successful 8-year spell.
“I just got fired by Brooks Koepka. I was with Brooks for eight years. You know, I think you get players that say ‘Listen, I’m just tired of hearing the same thing’ and I’ve always been one that would say, ‘Well listen, I’m not gonna make stuff up, I can try and tell you something different but we kind of know what you do as a player and if you’ve had success.’
You know Brooks had an eight-year run of some incredible golf, and I think Brooks is at a stage of his career having gone through an injury where maybe he wants to hear something different and that kind of stuff happens.”
Harmon was told he was being let go by Koepka the Wednesday after the Masters.
Since the split, Koepka has won his first Tour event since 2019 at the Phoenix Open and backed that up with a runner-up finish last week at the WGC-Workday Championship.

None of the articles from GolfWRX or Golfweek, GD, etc. about this subject care to mention that he’s using one length clubs with jacked up lofts. Typical media hype.

EGO, he wants to be the longer ever, and after watching him las week he seemed totally out of control. I don’t remember him Birdieing the firs Par 5 at one time, a 503 yd Hole. He had better carry an ax with his he is in the trees so much. He would be better swing in control and still hitting it a mile, but with some sore of accuracy. Plus he will feel that out of control Driver swing he has, kind of a lunge, in fact a big lunge. But we will see what happens when he plays a long wide open course. I like the guy but he has to wake up and control his Ball..

Bryson’s clubs are incredibly strong lofted with a 7i shaft in the lower irons. No wonder he hits it that far. I hit my 4 iron 230 and it’s 23.5 degrees which is what his 5 iron is..

42 degree pitching wedge says it all. Don’t be deceived.

And it’s a 7 iron shaft. Pretty sure most guys with decent clubhead speed could hit that 160 easily.

I find it funny that he list a 47 degree wedge (my PW and most people within a degree) and a PW. I think his PW is 43 degrees. I saw his 4 iron is 18 degrees. 5 iron is 23 degrees. He plays them all the same length but the lofts are very delofted. Like at least a whole club. hitting a 47 degree wedge 147 is not that ridiculous for those guys. An 18 degree iron would go 255 for any of the longest hitters. Essential this just shows that he’s as along as Dustin, Rory and such with irons. His driver was 5.5 degrees hitting up 6 or 7 degrees. Dustin plays like a 10.5 degree driver. It’s not that crazy the distance you can hit it with that low of a loft.
