Cobra Pars and Stripes SpeedZone drivers: Limited-edition launch at retail tomorrow

Published

on

It has been a year filled with unexpectedly canceled and rescheduled events. But in the world of limited-release products, where manufacturing schedules are prepared over a year in advance, the new Pars and Stripes limited edition Cobra SpeedZone driver is just in time for what would have been the 2020 U.S. Open Championship.

The new Pars and Stripes SpeedZone driver, including the Xtreme, feature a color palette inspired by the U.S. Open and the American flag.

It has a white crown, with red and blue highlights on the sole, and the driver’s infinity face and sole features a very cool blue PVD finish.

The drivers offer the same technology as the standard SpeedZone and SpeedZone Xtreme—you can check out all the details our in-depth launch piece: Cobra gets faster in 2020 with new SpeedZone and SpeedZone Xtreme drivers—but with one noticeable exception.

The Limited Edition Pars and Stripes comes equipped with a real deal Fujikura Ventus shaft with Velocore.

If you were to configure the standard SpeedZone driver with a Fujikura Ventus the upcharge is $240, whereas, with the Pars and Stripes, you get the shaft along with the limited edition paintjob for only $100 more than the standard driver – it more than justifies the additional price of the club.

Price and Availability

The Pars and Stripes Cobra SpeedZone drivers will be available is Friday, June 19.

They will be right hand only and come in nine degrees for the SpeedZone and 10.5 in the SpeedZone Xtreme. Both have Cobra’s MyFly loft sleeve to adjust the driver 1.5 degrees up and down from the standard loft.

The drivers will also be available in Regular and Stiff flex, with X-stiff available through custom order

Retail price is $549.

The picture of the Ventus seems to be the Blue, so wondering if they will include the Ventus Black for those that don’t fit into the Blue?

What GolfWRXers are saying about the easiest to hit 3-woods

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been discussing 3-woods. WRXer ‘Tim_Joyce’ is currently playing a TaylorMade SIM Max LS Driver SIM 2 Max 3/7w, and while he adores his 7w, he is struggling with this 3w. He reaches out to fellow members for suggestions on something that gives him the same feel and control as the 7w, with WRXers sharing their picks in our forums.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • rooski: “RadSpeed woods are incredible, easiest 3w I’ve ever hit, and I’ve never been able to hit a 3w in my life.”
  • Hawkeye77: “My Mavrik 3w is the best I’ve ever had, shaft would be irrelevant to you because I don’t have your SS, but it’s great from the tee and the fairway.”
  • Valtiel: “Don’t underestimate the proper fitting tweaks, especially shortening and adding weight. Lots of people find happiness at a much shorter length than the standard 43.25″. Since you have the access as well, you may want to cherry-pick the right face angle if you’re sensitive to that sort of thing. Taylormade woods seem to vary more than most in this category.”
  • bird_4_3: “Make sure you try the Srixon. They are really, really good.”
