Forum Thread of the Day: “Which 2020 driver did you order?”
Today’s Forum Thread of the Day comes from PR3CI5N who asks WRXers which new-release driver have they ordered for the new year. Our members disclose which driver will be in their bag for 2020 and why they chose the model they did over other options.
Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.
- federerfan23: “Tested everything possible today at Club Champion and couldn’t believe the results. I have never got along with Titleist drivers and have always been 10-15 yards shorter but wound up with a TS3 with Diamana BF 60. My clubhead speed was 3-5 MPH better with the Titleist than anything else.”
- tgoodspe1991: “I haven’t ordered a new driver yet, but I’m strongly leaning towards Mavrik or Speedzone. PING makes great drivers but looks wise I preferred G400 over G410, and I cannot get comfortable with the shape of TM driver heads. I didn’t like Epic Flash at all, but man the Mavrik looks awesome (I love orange too lol). I haven’t seen the Speedzone in person, but I liked F9 a lot, and Speedzone looks like an improvement in every way. We’ll see what ends up making the cut!”
- getitdaily: “Hit SIM, SIM MAX, Mavrik SZ, and speed zone. Speedzone – too much spin like all Cobra drivers SIM MAX – higher spin than SIM. SIM numbers were better. Mavrik SZ – best numbers but toe side strikes were less than stellar, including a few off the grid left. Deal-breaker. SIM 9.0 ordered. Really good numbers. Ordered with rogue silver 70 X. Shaft will get installed in my backup 17 m2 3wood. My 125msi rogue gamer will go in SIM.”
- PR3CI5N: “I called and changed my order from the 8.0 to the 9.0 SIM. I want a little more adjustability, which I was limited on with the 8.0. If I want to play the club slightly open, I don’t want the head to be at 7.0 lol”

I ordered NONE of them (for now). I may in the future. Right now, my M3 is performing the way I want it to…thanks to almost a month of testing and validation with one of my fellow club fitters.
