Yup. Don’t let the door slam as you leave Tommy.

Is Tony Finau’s Utah Jazz staff bag the coolest golf bag of all time?

Published

on

No hyperbole, Tony Finau’s Utah Jazz staff bag might be the coolest golf bag I’ve ever seen. Tiger Woods has had some classics through the years, especially when he was using the Buick bags. Plenty of brands have made awesome custom bags for major championships, too. John Daly’s recent Hooters bag comes to mind. And, of course, the fictional Al Czervik from Caddyshack had a legendary bag.

But Finau’s deep purple bag, with a custom “Finau 7” jersey stitch on the front and Utah Jazz logo on the side, might be a winner.

Finau, of course, was born in Utah, plus he was playing alongside former NBA player and Jazz executive Danny Ainge during the 2022 Hero World Challenge on Wednesday. Typically, Finau carries a Ping staff bag, but this was a special occasion.

According to Finau, he’ll be autographing and giving away the purple staff bag at next week’s Utah Jazz vs. Golden State Warriors game on Wednesday.

For more photos of the bag, check out the GolfWRX Forums here.

New irons for a mid-handicapper? – GolfWRXers discuss

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been discussing new irons for a mid-handicap player. WRXer ‘Ovodeano’ plays off 14 and is looking for irons “between game improvement and player distance”, and our members have been sharing their suggestions in our forum.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • jomatty: “You might also check out the Ping i525, forged tec or forged tec x, and the Mizuno pro 225. The Takomo players’ distance irons look really good for the money as well, although I haven’t hit those.”
  • vtpachyderm: “Cobra King Tour MIMs are criminally underrated – I play them now after playing Apex Pro 16s. So so forgiving yet very consistent front and back. And they feel pretty darn good too. Highly recommend throwing those into the mix when getting fit.”
  • Ron Man: “I was in same handicap range as you starting this season. About a 15-17 using 2002 Callaway Big Bertha irons. I bought a set of Taylormade P790 irons 4-PW KBS stiff shafts. Absolutely love them, hit them great from day one! My handicap is now down to around a 10! I completely recommend these irons. They are phenomenal. They’re geared more towards a players iron but still forgiving.”
  • bird_4_3: “I would not sleep on the Cleveland Xl Launcher irons. I have two sets, and they are fantastic irons.”

Coolest thing for sale in the GolfWRX Classifieds (11/30/22): National Custom Works Don White irons

Published

on

At GolfWRX, we are a community of like-minded individuals that all experience and express our enjoyment of the game in many ways.

It’s that sense of community that drives day-to-day interactions in the forums on topics that range from best driver to what marker you use to mark your ball. It even allows us to share another thing we all love – buying and selling equipment.

Currently, in our GolfWRX buy/sell/trade (BST) forum, there is a listing for a set of National Custom Works Don White irons.

From the seller (@jjc): “Don White Custom Hand Ground. 4-PW. Raw – Forged 1018. Fuji Pro Tour Spec 95 Stiff. Brand New-ish – I put a grip on the 4, 7, PW and hit 5-10 balls because I could not resist (don’t lie you would have tried them as well) – the other irons have never been gripped. No Grips – see above. This set took over 2 years to make and was over $3K – with the shafts and build was nearly $4K. I have to put a price so $2000 OBO – yes there is a logo on the toe that is why they are not $3K – again, if you are interested lets discuss or make an offer.”

To check out the full listing in our BST forum, head through the link: National Custom Works Don White irons

This is the most impressive current listing from the GolfWRX BST, and if you are curious about the rules to participate in the BST Forum you can check them out here: GolfWRX BST Rules
