Forum Thread of the Day: “Hottest and most forgiving 3-wood?”

Published

on

Today’s Forum Thread of the Day comes from nevi adams who asked fellow members their thoughts on what has been the best 3-wood released in recent years. With an emphasis on “the hottest/ most forgiving 3-wood out there”, WRXers have been sharing their opinions in our forum.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • the bishop: “Feels like we’ve been in a golden era of FW’s the last few years. I won’t say it’s hard to go wrong, but it’s easy to go right if that makes any sense. I haven’t done a lot of comparing, but I’ve got a 2016 TM M1 that’s a tour issue head that is a really good club. Great driver alternative on shorter/tighter par 4’s but plenty long. It doesn’t lag for distance.”
  • 10of14: “The fairway wood has always been my Achilles heel over the years until I discovered the Ping G25. While I’ve tried to unseat it with some new model trials, I’ve returned to it. It is super easy to hit off the deck. I bag both the 16.5* and 20.0* with the Diamana S+ 70 Blue shaft. A close second for me was the Callaway Rogue, which is definitely longer and better off the tee for me, but not as good off the deck where I need it most. Not the sexiest of choices given all the new stuff, but works for me.”
  • bodhi555: “You can’t go too far wrong with any modern FW – I had great results with my old Vapor Fly. Sadly I got very angry with myself during Club Championship last year, and it kind of developed a rattle after bouncing off a tree root, so needed a replacement. Tried a couple, but long story short, the 917 F3 is an absolute weapon – I gained 20 yards on the Nike instantly. It was also 10 yards longer than the TS3 I initially had in mind.”
  • Young Money: “My vote would go to the G410. I’ve always struggled missing left with 3-woods, and I hit this one so much better.”

+1 for the cobra f9. I have it in a Graphite Design Tour AD5r2. Carrying 310 with a real penetrating ball flight.

I have just gotten a Cobra f9 strong 3w tour issue with a hazardous black 70g shaft. Amazing. Ball speed is ridiculous. Was playing a Bertha before and couldn’t get any distance. Cobra now carrying 270 rolling out to 285… love it. Definitely would suggest

It’s that sense of community that drives day-to-day interactions in the forums on topics that range from best driver to what marker you use to mark your ball, it even allows us to share another thing – the equipment itself.

One of the best ways to enjoy equipment is to experiment and whether you are looking to buy-sell-or trade (as the name suggests) you can find almost anything in the GolfWRX BST Forum. From one-off custom Scotty Cameron Circle T putters, to iron sets, wedges, and barely hit drivers, you can find it all in our constantly updated marketplace.

Just WOW! This is not a set you see often, and for those looking for a bit of history surrounding this set, the Forged 588 irons were the last set of forged irons produced by Cleveland before they left the “players iron” market behind.
