Thanks for your mentions. Small shop doing what I truly love to do. Being part of the WRX’er community for as long as I have, it is surreal to see mention of my stuff, in this section.
    Have an amazing weekend!

The 555-yard par 5 that Bryson will try and DRIVE this week at Bay Hill

Published

on

Bryson DeChambeau has been a trailblazer in the game of golf over the past 18 months, and this week at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, we could well see the golf scientist attempt to drive a par 5.

The 6th hole at Bay Hill measures 555-yards; however, to carry the lake with the drive and hit the green, Bryson would need to fly the ball approximately 340-yards.

C/o: @BarstoolBanks

What’s more, Bryson has already committed to trying his luck on the hole this week if there is a little bit of downhill wind, telling Golf.com last month:

“If I play this year I will definitely do it. No. 6 at Bay Hill is one of those I’ve been eyeing. I think I can do some pretty cool things on it.”

A few players have unsuccessfully attempted to pull off the shot in the past, most notably back in 1998 when John Daly famously made an 18 on the hole. You can check out Daly’s disaster below.

If Bryson does pull off the shot, it also brings the remarkable 4-under par on a hole ‘Condor’ into the conversation.

Johnny Manziel plans to tee it up on the PGA Tour

Published

on

Johnny Manziel has revealed that he is aiming to become a pro golfer and has given himself 12 years to complete the task.

The former NFL quarterback is now 28-years-old and outlined his plans on the “Green Light with Chris Long” podcast, which he admitted will be a “very uphill battle”.

“I’m giving myself 12 years to try to play professional golf. I’m gonna grind this out and see how good I can get and see if I can’t enter in some tournaments and see if I can’t go play professional golf eventually. I think it is a very uphill battle, but that’s what I’m setting for my goals. I have 12 years to try and make a PGA Tour event.”

Manziel, who is currently playing in a fan controlled football league, revealed on social media last year that he is a 2 handicap and even won a long drive competition at a charity golf classic in 2020 with a recorded drive of 356 yards.

Check out Manziel’s swing below and let us know in the comments how you rate his chances of one day competing in a PGA Tour event!

Remembering Arnold Palmer’s driver off the deck

Published

on

Arnold Palmer endeared himself to fans thanks to his go-for-broke swagger, and in 2004, when playing in his final PGA Tour event, the now-named Arnold Palmer Invitational, he gave us a fitting final approach to the 18th green with a driver off the deck.

As a younger golf fan at the time, I didn’t quite have the full appreciation for Arnold’s impact on the game as I do now, but there was something about watching this shot on that Friday afternoon that was special.

Palmer’s grandson on the bag. Arnie’s Army out in full force—and for no reason beyond giving the people “what they came to see” he hit an absolutely perfect shot that continues to resonate.

Thanks for the memory, Mr. Palmer.
