Wilson C300 Forged Gun Metal: Same speed, new look!
Black never goes out style — black suits, little black dresses, black dress shoes — you get the idea.
With club finish options some also come and go, but black continues to be one of the most popular finishes, second only to chrome…and with that Wilson Staff in unveiling the C300 Forged in Gun Metal.
When it comes to irons, the C series from Wilson is the “Control” players category — designed for speed but with a look that many better players prefer. The C300s get their speed from what they call Power Holes located around the outside of the face and sole.
Much like the popular Cortex driver, a fast frame is built into the carbon steel body to get as much power from what is generally considered standard-lofted clubs (anything less than 28 degrees in the 6 iron now could be considered traditional).
Like with the standard chrome model, the Gun Metal C300s with come standard with KBS Tour 105s and Lamkin Crossline Grips, but with Wilson you do get access to a huge selection of shafts from True Temper, KBS, and Nippon in steel.
Retail is set for 999.99 USD. More info on Wilson’s website.

Spotted: Tommy Fleetwood’s TaylorMade Spider Tour X Prototype putter
Tommy Fleetwood has been attached to his Odyssey White Hot Pro #3 putter for years now. However, this week at the Wells Fargo Championship, we did spot him testing a new putter that is very different, yet somewhat similar, to his current gamer.
This new putter is a TaylorMade Spider Tour X head but with a brand new neck we haven’t seen on a Spider before. A flow neck is attached to the Spider head and gives the putter about a 1/2 shaft offset. This style neck will usually increase the toe hang of the putter and we can guess it gets the putter close to his White Hot Pro #3.
Another interesting design is that lack of TaylorMade’s True Path alignment on the top of the putter. Instead of the large white center stripe, Tommy’s Spider just has a very short white site line milled into it. As with his Odyssey, Tommy seems to be a fan of soft inserts and this Spider prototype looks to have the TPU Pure Roll insert with 45° grooves for immediate topspin and less hopping and skidding.
The sole is interesting as well in that the rear weights don’t look to be interchangeable and are recessed deep into the ports. This setup could be used to push the CG forward in the putter for a more blade-like feel during the stroke, like TaylorMade did with the Spider X Proto Scottie Scheffler tested out.
Tommy’s putter is finished off with an older Super Stroke Mid Slim 2.0 grip in blue and white. The Mid Slim was designed to fit in between the Ultra Slim 1.0 and the Slim 3.0 that was a popular grip on tour.

Thank goodness. I was afraid the new finish would slow this baby down.

Many people would spend a thousand on a set of Wilson
irons. They are testing better than many other big name brands. Your behind the times.

They all look cool when new, but give them 20 rounds and they will look a mess. These shiny black finishes wear terribly

Once again the most important picture at address is missing. Not sure why that view is the most missed when pics of clubs are posted?

Like em, but who’s going to drop a grand on a set of Wilson irons these days? Seriously…

That is simple JP, people who want a quality club as good if not better than most all of the brands with all their unfounded but highly touted marketing hype. Before commenting you should hit them. Wilson is back.

Back? What’s their market share in irons? Drivers? Fairway woods? Wedges? Putters? Balls?
Better yet, what is your definition of “back”?

Just try it and maybe you will find out. You seem to be one who buys the hype and marketing the so called big ones are spending Millions on. Whatever.
