Srixon has announced the launch of their new sixth generation Z-Star Series golf balls, the Srixon Z-Star and Srixon Z-Star XV.

The new Z-Star debuts the company’s new FastLayer Core. The core starts soft in the center and gradually becomes firmer around its edge, which aims to enhance ball speed for maximum distance performance, while still maintaining feel at impact.

Speaking on the new FastLayer Core, Srixon Vice President of Research and Development, Jeff Brunski stated

“The new Z-STAR Series golf balls are built on top of the heritage of one of the most successful, trusted Tour golf balls in the market. The exceptional ball speed and distance of both Z-STAR offerings are driven by the new FastLayer Core technology, producing both outstanding ball speed and launch conditions tuned for the high swing-speed, better player.”

The Z-Star Series also features a new Spin Skin technology with Slide-Ring Material (SeRM), which is a urethane compound that coats the cover of each ball. The combination of technologies has allowed Srixon to use greater levels of shearing force without breaking its molecular bonds and is designed to offer golfers a golf ball that digs deep into wedge and iron grooves, increasing friction and spin, and thus, providing more control and stopping power.

The new golf balls from Srixon are the first and only to feature the new Slide-Ring Material, and speaking on the latest technology, Brunski said

“Engineered for more spin and control, the Z-STAR Series features a Spin Skin coating enhanced with SeRM, an extremely flexible material. Never before has Srixon combined so many technologies in one golf ball, to produce more friction for more spin around the green.”

Srixon’s latest golf balls include a 338 Speed Dimple Pattern, which aims to improve overall aerodynamics for better flight performance, less drag and more lift, even in heavy wind conditions.

The Z-Star Series hit retail stores in North America on February 1. The balls are available in both Pure White and Tour Yellow and cost $39.99 per dozen.
