Peter Kessler lashed out at anyone and everyone on Twitter

With 140K followers on Twitter and a website as well, No Laying Up have become one of the most popular accounts in the golfing world. However, when the group plugged the second season of their show “Tourist Sauce” with a new promo, it provoked a strong response from “the voice of golf,” former Golf Channel and PGA Tour host, writer, and producer, Peter Kessler. (Kessler responded to Green Jacket Auctions, who praised NLU’s work).
That was certainly one of the worst things ever presented. 5th graders could do considerably better. It isn’t anything…at all.
— Peter Kessler (@peterkessler) October 30, 2018
Kessler, no stranger to speaking his mind, then spent hours feuding with fellow social media users who defended No Laying Up’s promo. As is often the case in the world of social media, the arguments descended into personal insults, on which Kessler did not hold back.
Consider these tweets representative of dozens more in the same vein.
How’s the desk job working out? When they let you flip burgers soon, the big bucks start rolling in. Send a pic when you get the white hat. Thanks.
— Peter Kessler (@peterkessler) October 31, 2018
I’m not, you fool. And try an original sentence, something fresh. There should be a differential between your handicap and IQ. Deep inhale.
— Peter Kessler (@peterkessler) October 31, 2018
Although Kessler was firmly in attack mode, he had to be on his guard when @ProV1_iron took aim at his Perfect Club infomercials from back in the day. The spots are largely a humorous relic in the golfing world, but Kessler was having none of the “people in glass houses” analogy.
Well, we did sell a third of a million with no returns. How did your spot do?
— Peter Kessler (@peterkessler) October 31, 2018
The responses from Kessler went on and on, and many had been expecting the ex-Golf Channel host cool off after yesterday’s exploits. However, the opposite happened, with Kessler getting right back in the saddle this morning and continuing his tirade against defenders of the show, with Kessler claiming NLU’s promo “is like intro to entertainment in 9th grade and school just started. Surely you’ve seen good movies and tv shows. These aren’t them.”
Despite saying that he has “Gotta run,” Kessler remains locked in a battle of personal insults with other social media users.
What do you make of Peter Kessler’s social media outburst, GolfWRX members?

Justin Thomas on being dropped by Ralph Lauren: ‘I put them in a terrible position’

Justin Thomas is in action in Abu Dhabi this week and has spoken for the first time since Ralph Lauren ended their relationship following a slur Thomas made at the Tournament of Champions.
Speaking to media at the European Tour event, the 27-year-old said
“It’s humiliating, it’s embarrassing, and it’s not me. It’s not a word that I use, but for some reason, it was in there. And that’s what I’m trying to figure out as to why it was in there, and it’s going to be a part of this process and training program or whatever I need to do, not only to prove to myself but prove to my sponsors and prove to those people that don’t know who I am that that is indeed not the person I am.”
Ralph Lauren severed ties with JT last weekend, and its a decision which Thomas understands as he admitted that he put them in a “terrible position”.
“They just felt like they needed to move on. That’s exactly what I’m doing, as well. It was a great run that we had and a great partnership, but you know, things will work out for the best. Just like my other partners and other sponsorships, it was an opportunity for them to help me, just like I hope to help them. But like I said, they had to do what they had to do.
They are a huge, huge global brand, and I have to respect their decision. I wasn’t disappointed, because I put them in a terrible position. I just was more upset.”
Thomas also discussed his excellent relationship with the global brand and how he believes that he will become a better man and person due to what happened.
“I had a great relationship with a lot of people there, and like I said, we would have had the opportunity to do it together, and I totally respect their decision and I’ve moved on from it. I’ve had great communication with all of them.
It was obviously not calls or emails I was hoping or planning to make, but I needed to because I have some great long-lasting partnerships with all my sponsors. They know that’s not the person that I am. They know that’s not how I act and although they are far from brushing it to the side just like I am, they understand that this is an opportunity for me to educate myself, grow, become a better person.
I know that I’ll become a better man and a better person because of it, and they are going to kind of help me along that process.”
As for what’s next apparel wise for Thomas, on Monday in Abu Dhabi he was still wearing an RLX shirt at the course. However, per Golf Monthly’s Joel Tadman, JT wore a Peter Millar polo shirt and mid-layer in Abu Dhabi yesterday and today with his RLX shorts, which he sourced himself.
Had it confirmed that Justin Thomas wore a Peter Millar polo shirt and mid layer in Abu Dhabi yesterday and today with his RLX shorts. No relationship in place so he has sourced them himself. pic.twitter.com/5v8UK0xjkg

David Feherty’s Golf Channel show axed – GolfWRXers react

In our forums, our members have been reacting to the news that David Feherty’s Golf Channel show will end after a decade on air. Golf Digest reported the story, and speaking via telephone to the publication, Feherty said:
“I don’t know what the reasons were for the decision. I think it was a combination of things. We haven’t been able to shoot any episodes because of COVID. The Golf Channel move. I don’t know. Maybe it was just time.
I think a lot of people are going to be surprised that it got canceled. It always sort of amazed me the (number of) people that watched. Ten years is a whole lot more than I thought I would do. I loved doing it.”
Our members have been sharing their thoughts on the cancellation in our forum.
Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.
- bcflyguy1: “All good things must eventually come to an end, and when they do, it does nothing to diminish their goodness. As others have pointed out, there were some dud episodes, but they were only notable because of how exceptional most of the others were.”
- bladehunter: “David is the very definition of genuine. Flawed. But genuine. And he has a natural knack for pulling the best out of people. Watch his Matthew McConaughey interview. If you don’t want to play a round with those two, it’s you. “
- CCTxGolf: “Yeah, he certainly pulled the best out of people. Agree with Hawk on every point. For those who haven’t watched the Condi interview, do so. She is very, very impressive, to say the least.”
- TobesSC: “Always enjoyed the show, but the amount of commercial breaks became unbearable to me. To make things worse the way they edited the sections going into breaks/coming out of breaks were all previews/summaries, so the 1 hour show turns out to be maybe 25 minutes max.”

Tiger Woods undergoes fifth back surgery; will miss Farmers and Genesis

Tiger Woods has announced that he will delay his start to 2021 after undergoing a microdiscectomy procedure to remove a pressurized disc fragment that was pinching a nerve.
Woods’ doctor and team have revealed that the surgery was successful and that the 45-year-old is expected to make a full recovery.
As a result of the surgery, Woods will not compete at either the Farmers Insurance Open or the Genesis Invitational but still plans on serving as Tournament host at the event from Riviera.
Per the statement, the operation was brought on by discomfort Woods felt following the PNC Championship in December.
“I look forward to begin training and am focused on getting back out on tour” – Tiger Woods
This operation marks the fifth operation Woods has had on his back, almost four years after undergoing spinal-fusion surgery.

I only watch The Golf Channel when an actual tournament is broadcast. When Peter Kessler was on, I was watching. Very insightful, easy to listen to, and he talked TO YOU! Now we have the arrogant Learner & Chamblee (local Putt-Putt Champion), and the dopes in the morning! Too bad, it was fun to watch while it lasted.

Thanks.

Middle aged guys sometimes nose over the edge a bit, especially as they notice their vitality ebbing and their relevance fading. Hopefully he can pull back from the cliff and recover some dignity.

When the Golf Channel was in its infancy, they scrounged up a nobody called Peter Kessler who — due to understaffing — hosted four or five shows at once, then allowed his ego to convince himself that he was actually an Important Talent which was MILES from accurate. When the self-important Kessler was shown the door screaming, he then lent his “voice of golf” to the oh-so-vital ‘Perfect Club’ infomercial which, I suppose, is the broadcast equivalent of being the early-morning host of Wake Up Amarillo (Weekend Edition.) Kessler, sitting dormant for the past 10 years, listens to Tony Robbins “you can do it!” tapes and today has convinced himself that the golf world is desperately, eagerly awaiting his next vital pronouncements on sport, life and how a useless dick can arise from the dead by the simple act of being annoying. Please allow this useless troll to continue his pathetic cries for relevance to go unanswered.

Who is Peter Kessler again?
Answer: someone who disappeared when he thought he was bigger then golf and Arnold Palmer when he left The Golf Channel. (Also see Holly Saunders).

If Peter is the forgotten man with some this ridiculous and vindictive article just made him famous again. “All publicity is good publicity”. Gianni unwittingly has made Peter a star.

A star of what? I doubt this article (with less then 50 viewer responses) will do anything to bring anyone back on the map again. Unless the Perfect Club #2 will be coming out. Maybe they will sell “two-thirds of a million” clubs. That might do it…..

“All publicity is good publicity, as long as they spell your name right.” … “All publicity is good if it is intelligent.” “The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about.” “There’s no such thing as bad publicity except your own obituary.”

It’s Peter. That was fantastic. Enjoyed it. I wish you’d used my most clever lines. Hard for each one to be incredible. I’ll keep at it. Call me anytime. 4072472192. [email protected]. I only read it once. Will read some more. Fun????????????? I’m working on something. If I pull it off you get an exclusive. I think the pic looks good. Girls like that one. You do know this all amuses me, right? I laugh as I think of replies. It really helps sharpen my writing too for I’m trying to write a book. I’ve done everything. A book is a whole other world. But I’m trying to be a historian on twitter and amusing and take on anything like poorly made media content obviously. And all things Beatles or Paul . My daughter is sure I want to make out with him. I was acting like an asshole on Twitter till late August when I figured out my current persona. Thanks again. All the best. ?????Pk
