FootJoy launches new D.N.A Helix golf shoes
In May, we spotted a new pair of FootJoys on the PGA Tour. Now, we have the official details on the all-new D.N.A. Helix, golf shoes that were designed with the best golfers in the world in mind.
As their name implies, the D.N.A Helix is part of FootJoy’s D.N.A. line, which was launched in 2014. The Helix was inspired by the direct feedback of PGA Tour players who were seeking enhanced stability from a D.N.A. shoe, particularly in the heel area of the golf shoe when compared to the previous generation, the D.N.A. 2.0, FootJoy says.
In creating the D.N.A. Helix, FootJoy designed a new outsole, the NitroThin 3.0 TPU. It’s 23 percent lighter than previous D.N.A. outsoles, according to FootJoy, and it’s also wider, which contributes to the added stability of the shoes.
“I’ve worn every version of DNA and this is by far the best for me,” said Scott Stallings. “The additional support they built in, especially laterally as I move back and through the ball, is fantastic.”
FootJoy says the D.N.A. Helix is 38 percent more stable than its predecessor, an improvement that was achieved, in part, by increasing the width between the heel spike receptacles of the shoes by 13 percent. To improve lateral stability, a new fit-bed (an insert) was developed. The company’s “3D FoamCollar 2.0” was also added to improve support, comfort and fit.
The D.N.A. Helix ($209.99 with laced, $239.99 with Boa) are made with ChromoSkin leather from Pittards and come with a two-year waterproof warranty. They use low-profile SoftSpikes Pulsar cleats and are available in three colorways (laced: white/red/blue, white/silver and black). The Boa model is available in one colorway (white/black).

My Adidas 360 Tour shoes are going on 8 years and are in perfect shape. No need to even look for something else.

These will be awesome in comparison to the PXG line coming out. Shoes will range from $750-$2,000. Then we’ll be begging for mediocre shoes under $250.

I dig the old icon saddle shoes and wingtips, they are classic golf shoes. Everything else footjoy makes is old man ugly. Seriously. Cranky old man ugly shoes. They need to get with the times. These shoes are hideous.

It would not be difficult for the new version to be more stable in the heel. I had the first version, they were terrible, the least waterproof shoe I have ever had, slipped loads in the heel and to top it off a hole appeared in the side of the shoe a week after the warranty expired. They also made such a mess of the greens in the winter.

Only a two year waterproof warranty? That must be how long it takes for the cheap glue to fail and the sole separates from the upper.

Last longer then the cheap “water resistant” shoes you wear. Name one brand that guarantees waterproofing for longer than 2 years? So many other brands shoes don’t even have guaranteed waterproofing.

Maybe not more than 2 yr, but its pretty easy to find Ecco World Class shoes for $250 CAN. Going to last you a lot longer as well!

Haha don’t even look like the DNA 2.0 shoes. Didn’t realize Classics, DJ Tours, Icons, And DNA all look like climbing shoes.
