Spotted: Mitsubishi Chemical Tensei CK hybrid shafts

In 2015, Mitsubishi Chemical introduced its line of Tensei CK (which means “transformation” in Japanese) metal wood shafts that took the company’s classic bend profiles and transformed them into multi-material designs to improve performance and feel. The Tensei line remains hugely popular on Tour, and different variations of the shafts are in the bags of marquee names such as Rory McIlroy and Jason Day.
More specifically, the Tensei CK Pro White shaft — which many Tour players opt for because it yields lower torque and also lower launch and spin than the CK Pro Blue — has a boron-reinforced tip section to provide greater control and stability.
The hybrid version of the Tensei CK shaft we spotted at the 2017 U.S. Open will not use a Boron tip, but rather an MR70 material, which the company calls its “strongest carbon fiber.” According to Mitsubishi Rayon, the shaft is designed to be a lower launching and lower spinning option in hybrids.

Think you meant lower torque. Torque has almost nothing to do with launch/spin as well. Lower torque correlates to stiffer flex which often times can lower launch and spin, though there can be many exceptions.
