In honor of honoring parents, as it were, Craftsman Golf is giving away two “Sumo” driver covers (Father’s Day) and two “Petals” driver covers (Mother’s Day), as well as two “Sakura” covers.

Of course, Craftsman’s excellent crafts aren’t limited to driver headcovers, as they make covers for every club in the bag, as well as ball markers, pouches, and Sunday bags. They’re also ready, willing, and able to make you a custom headcover.

So, how do you get in on the contest?

Go to www.craftsmangolf.com and pick your favorite headcover. Then, in a post in the thread, include the following:

  • A screenshot of your favorite Craftsman headcover design.
  • Which headcover design you would like to win.

That’s it. Winners selected at random. Good luck!

Is a blade just a blade? – GolfWRXers discuss

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been discussing blade irons and whether there are discernible difference in models or not.

WRXer ‘LowAndLeft32’ wants to know how fellow members decide on a particular blade to game, and WRXers have been sharing their thoughts and process in our forums.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • benclab: “Look of top line, offset and how bounce acts at contact and through. All blades are not the same.”
  • Yoshifan151: “Blade designs differ a lot from one manufacturer to another. Sole design is the biggest one that will have an impact IMO. But if you like your VR Pros I’d stick with them personally; those are one of the best blade sets ever in terms of a total package.”
  • cgasucks: “The shape of the blade has virtually been changed for decades. You can only forge a billet of carbon steel into so many shapes. It is really up to the person to decide. You can’t go wrong with any of the blades you listed. Your current Nike Blades are can still perform up there with today’s blades. For me, I would choose one which is based on looks and feel and how it frames against the ball at address.”
  • DaRiz: “Looks at address. Sound/feel. Looks in the bag. In that order, no other criteria need be analyzed.”

Anyone play a 9-wood? – GolfWRXers discuss

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been discussing 9-woods. WRXer ‘Uglande’ wants to know if there is a place for the 9-wood in the bag, especially after the revival of 7-woods in the modern game, saying:

“4-iron is a tricky spot for a lot of us, and I have never gotten along with hybrids. Is bagging a 9 wood that crazy of an idea? If Dustin Johnson can hit a 7 wood, why isn’t a 9 wood a realistic choice for the rest of us mortals?”

And our members have been having their say on the matter in our forum.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • tbowles411: “Sure do. Love it. It gives me around 200 yards off the tee and off the deck. It makes the long game easier for me, by a LOT!”
  • Feelingofgreatness: “9 wood is generally higher MOI, higher launching and across the spectrum more backspin and less hook bias.”
  • Argonne69: “Yeah, I replaced my 4h with a 9w a few seasons ago. I had trouble getting the hybrid airborne at times, but the 9w launches easily. I also have a 7w.”
  • mosesgolf: “Yup. I love mine, which replaced the 4 iron. It is so much easier to hit and elevate.”

Patrick Cantlay puts T-5 Scotty Cameron in the bag at Wells Fargo

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been taking a look at Patrick Cantlay’s latest putter: a Scotty Cameron T-5.

WRXers have been commenting on the mallet putter as well as the Californian’s flat-stick experiments that have seen Cantlay put a Scotty Cameron blade, Odyssey 2 ball and Scotty Cameron mallet all into tournament play over the past few weeks.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • Medson: “One fewer guy who plays blade putter.”
  • semarlor: “The search continues.”
  • noodle3872: “Double bend shaft is not something Scotty does very often. Odd Cantlay moved to the X 5 from a Newport. I would have thought the X 5.5 would be where he’d go.”
