PGA Tour Pro Offers A Unique Way to Grow the Game: Be Less “Boring”

Published

on

PGA Tour pro Grayson Murray has made quite a bit of news as the bad boy of golf social media lately… and maybe now we know why. According to a recent Tweet, he believes that PGA Tours pros opening up more on Twitter — or being less “boring” — may help grow the game of golf.

Murray also insists that his concept makes so much logical sense that it surprises him.

He may have a point, since Rory McIlroy taking on the Golf Channel’s Brandel Chamblee over fitness in golf provided some of the most entertainment in golf in 2016. Sponsored Tweets are much less exciting.

It’s hard to tell whether calling your mother a troll and showing off a missing front tooth on Twitter will translate to more kids playing golf, but alas, it’s more entertaining than most of what we see from PGA Tour pros. No one can deny that.

missing 5 cuts in row….having your only claim to fame in inviting a model to caddy for you in a tournament you won’t play in…dissing players worldwide who are more accomplished than you…work on your game…win…than maybe talk crap….

As a young person myself I think he’s right. The tour guys have a way to connect directly with their fans and show their human side but Most choose not to. If not grow the game it would at least grow their individual noteriety and attract more fans.

If I’m not ‘mistaking’, it’s generally a good rule to stay quiet and have people assume you’re an idiot than to tweet out your ‘logical sense’ and remove all doubt.

gentlemen as a former asst pro and avid golfer.. allow me to quote gary player when this subject was raised among jack and arnie and himself this game has nothing to do with athletics, action or social media to grow the game like anything else in America its about money ie green fees, balls, clubs and shoes we need more public courses more junior programs oh and not the first tee were we have country club parents putting their kids in the program hoping for the next tiger woods taking up space were a less fortuned young fine player could blossom…make the game more affordable… there ends the lesson

I for one don’t want the game to grow with bunches of kids wearing tank tops and blasting “their”music all over the course. Thank you- I like the game the way it is- courteous, respectful, rules oriented, ethical, and honest played by people who respect the game and it’s past. Everyone wants to make things better by ruining what they were. Leave the game alone……social media is one of the reasons we have so many idiots in the world who think they are more than they are. Social media = crappy life.

Everyone who has left a comment so far has completely missed the point of the article and the message from Grayson Murray. SMH.

You really should stick to writing about golf equipment.

What could be more boring than the musings of a cellphone zombie? If you are truly interested in nonsense like that, please do us all a favor and stay off the golf course.

This type of message tends to lose its effect when spoken with a hillbilly accent.

Maybe no wi-fi and cell coverage while camping – the technology I see campers hauling along with them is not much different than staying inside their homes.

What GolfWRXers are saying about Kevin Kisner’s new Callaway X Forged CB irons

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been discussing Kevin Kisner’s new Callaway X Forged CB irons which he has in the bag at this week’s CJ Cup. WRXers have been commenting on the switch and the clubs themselves in our forums.

For lots more photos, check out the full thread here.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • btyh: “Holy offset.”
  • Glf_LU: “These are interesting. Not going to make a rush to judgement until I see them in person. It does look like a little more offset than I would expect to see in this model.”
  • bcflyguy1: “Kisner is not one to make a lot of equipment changes (see the GBB driver he’s still using), so if these do have staying power in his bag that will be interesting to see. I have to wonder if there’s something different about his set, because like others have mentioned there appears to be more offset on his than I recall seeing in the samples I’ve had in hand.”

WATCH: PGA Tour players play hole blindfolded and it’s hilarious/amazing

Published

on

As part of a Srixon campaign, four PGA Tour players recently participated in a three-hole challenge, with each hole being a different game; hole No. 1 was blindfolded, hole No. 2 was costumes and distractions, and hole No. 3 was alternate shot with a baseball bat. The teams were Smylie Kaufman and Sam Ryder against Shane Lowry and Grayson Murray.

Watch the full video below, since it is quite entertaining (albeit not the type of golf that Old Tom Morris surely had in mind), but in particular, make sure to check out the first hole where Lowry and Ryder play a full hole completely blind folded. It’s amazing to watch how badly Ryder struggles, and how Lowry nearly makes par.

Cleveland-Srixon’s marketing department has been hard at work crafting these viral-esque ad campaigns; if you remember, former long-drive champion Jamie Sadlowski recently dressed as 80-year-old Grandpa Jamie to fool range-goers. That video has since gathered over 1.2 million views on YouTube.
