Just goes to show the FedEx Cup system is flawed. It really should go to the best and consistent player for the entire season, not to the player who’s hot for a few weeks. I’m a massive Rory fan but DJ got shafted

How it that playoffs then? New england won 15 straight games but lost to NYG in superbowl, should they give the trophy to New England because they were the most consistent?

        Sep 27, 2016 at 7:30 pm

They actually won 18 straight (16-0 regular season and two straight in the playoffs) before Eli and the Giants shut them down. But good point!

I don’t think the clubs matter that much! Rory is just outstanding when he gets going – he started the final round 6 behind, in a field of this year’s top 100 USPGA players, and he gave them no chance – they got STEAMROLLED. McIlroy just ran over the top of them! Why? Casey had Nikes, Chappell had Nikes, Finau had Nikes, Koepka had Nikes, others had their perfectly matched golfing tools – but that was not the essential ingredient for a win – “Rory” was the ingredient that counted! Class matters, you cannot buy that, and you can’t manufacture it either. Go, Rors!

Rory is pretty mediocre, if not fairly below average, when it comes to class. Look up his comment on growing the game and the way he treats his fiances and agents.

You mad at me or at reality, bro? I win more than I lose against my golf buds and date beautiful women. My life is okay.

now that he is no longer on Nike I can assure you he has been using a Mitsubishi Kuro Kage XT driver shaft painted like a Blueboard “because thats what they sell in the stores”

Rory switched to a Scotty and ate the field today. If he switches to a TM driver and Pro V1x ball, everyone should just go home.

His ball is superior to prov1x and he knows it. Has said as much

        Sep 6, 2016 at 4:05 am

Yep, he can use any ball he wants. He actually requested Nike keep at least 3+ years of balls aside for him after manufacturing shuts down.
But I agree about the clubs though. I think it’s an exciting time for one of the worlds best to have free reign on any clubs he chooses.

Actually it was most likely the “Putting Coach” change that benefited him more.

Jeez, so you actually think it’s the brand of a putter that makes him win? What a perfect little consumer you are 😉

Nike none u drunk? Between his clubs and ball he’s crushing everyone in distance! Take your Taylormade clubs and go play a par 3!

      Sep 5, 2016 at 9:45 pm

Yeah, must be a coincidence that his putting flipped 180 and was so solid after switching to a Scotty. Must be.

      • Dj

        Sep 5, 2016 at 10:24 pm

How’d he do last week in putting? Dead last? Oh yeah. Probably nothing to do with his stroke!

      • Jack

        Sep 6, 2016 at 3:25 am

Could it be that he also signed up with a new golf coach? Putters matter (I’ve tried them and proved them on a monitor), but it’s more the design or weighting of the putter and not the brand.

      • Jim

        Sep 30, 2016 at 5:48 pm

Puleeeez. The style & face balance change maybe. Brand? Not a chance. SC’s over priced knock offs of everyone elses age old designs.

finishes are just nicer…. amazing how everyone loves to trash Miura, Epon, Honma & PXG for being overpriced but kiss SC’s butt just for making Ping designs prettier

Bet he wishes that he had the energy transfer out of his Vapor Fly that Rickie is getting out of his King Ltd.

    Just saying.

      Feb 16, 2016 at 7:15 pm

      How do you figure?

    • prime21

      Feb 17, 2016 at 6:27 pm

Just continuing to say……..nothing but nonsense. The statistics provided by the PGA Tour in 2016 would beg to differ with your assessment. With a club head speed of 121.1 mph, Rory’s driving distance measures 311.5. Rickie’s club head speed of 118.15 is giving him a measured distance of 298.1. Being that every 1 mph of club head speed equates roughly to 3 yards of distance, bumping Rickie up to Rory’s speed (+3 mph) would add 9 yards to his distance total, giving him a grand total of 307.1. Although still impressive, it falls 4.4 short of Rory’s Vapor Fly, which tells us all that the “energy transfer” Rory is receiving from his Nike equipment is superior to anything that the King Ltd. has to offer. Just as the Vapor Pro out performed Rickie’s driver throughout the 5 & 4 thumping Rory handed him during the 2014 Ryder Cup, the Vapor Fly Pro continues this fine tradition in 2016.
Prior to your next post, you should try to get a better handle on the statistical evidence you sorely lack. Just saying.

Cannot directly compare clubhead speed differences and use that for direct yardage difference. Angle of attack, smash factor, the holes measured for the yardage measurements, etc

        • prime21

          Sep 5, 2016 at 3:13 pm

You can, which is the very definition of Smash Factor. Good try though.

            Well said prime21!

          • Jack

            Sep 6, 2016 at 5:47 am

Smash factor only involves two measurements, club head speed and ball speed.
            http://blog.trackmangolf.com/smash-factor/

You’re using clubhead and distance. It’s a decent approximation though since we don’t know the ballspeed . FWIW, I think Nike clubs are perfectly fine. People just didn’t like their design that’s all. Nike tried to be different, when most golfers were going for classic looks. Same reason why Cobra even when they tried to go younger (and look worse IMO) still has a tiny marketshare.

      • Justin

        Mar 28, 2016 at 3:19 pm

You forgot about spin! I can have the same swing speed with 2 different drivers setup completely different, and the results can be 40 yards apart. One club can be setup “like” another but it’s still not apples to apples. Everyone has a different angle of attack and the ball speed generated is what’s really important, not the club head speed.

        • prime21

          Sep 5, 2016 at 3:16 pm

The ball speed compared to the swing speed is the definition of energy transfer. If you are getting more ball speed with similar swing speeds then that is all that matters. If the spin rate is too high, one would not get higher ball speeds, thus their smash factor would be limited. Your comment almost made sense, keep trying.

Hey prime21 how come you don’t have anything better to do than trying to sound smart in order to feel superior? If you really were that good you would actually be working with a track man and some pga tour player!

I am a professional Long driver prime. I know more about driving than you would if you hooked trackman up to an IV and used it as a drip you muppet

          • Clay

            Sep 6, 2016 at 9:30 pm

Wow this is nonsense. If the spin rate is too high one would not get higher ball speeds? You have no clue how any of this works do you? Ball speed/club speed = smash. Google spin loft, look at some track man data, and maybe you will figure out how these numbers relate to distance.

FYI Rory launches 2.5* higher and has a spin rate 400 rpm lower. That can easily account for the 4 yards you are looking for while their smash factor is equal. Do the reading and you will understand how this can be despite your statement to the contrary. I play a vapor fly pro, but any driver from a major oem is capable of Max legal energy xfer.

        Sep 30, 2016 at 5:51 pm

        He’s hitting ‘more better’. Better smash factor – path/face & angles….
