You’re always going to find the best in-hand photos of new equipment in our Tour/Pre-release Equipment Forum before it hits the market on GolfWRX, as well as sophisticated breakdowns of the component technology on our front page.

We recently published an overview of Cobra’s new offerings, and a necessary complement to that piece is the bevy of in-hand photos and member’s hot takes in the forums.

Whenever you’re considering a purchase and/or need to stay abreast of the latest offerings in golf equipment, between the forum and the main page, we have you covered.

The Rumor Mill

taylormade-logo-640x360

While there’s nothing so sordid to be TMZ-worthy in our “Industry rumors heard today” thread, it’s nevertheless an interesting buffet of overheards.

Presently 11 pages long, current discussion focuses around rumors surrounding Adidas’ departure from the golf business and implications for subsidiary TaylorMade.

There are a few sizzling takes on the situation, including SilverBullet’s on page 10.

Definitely a thread to bookmark if you’re into speculation and potential storylines in the world of golf.

Joe LaCava under the microscope

the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide Insurance - Round Two

In our Tour Talk forum, Tiger Woods’ caddie gets a GolfWRX-level of analysis, which is to say, hard questions he’s not facing elsewhere.

Thread starter vegas005 lead off, in part, with this:

“He seems to just carry the bag and hand out clubs while his player is clearly struggling with his game. Thoughts?”

Replies, of course, debate the nature and variety of caddying on the PGA Tour, look at LaCava’s past work and Woods’ relationships with previous caddies Steve Williams and Fluff Cowan.

Is the spectator experience at a professional golf event worth it?

Golf-fans-

Sure, if someone offered you a ticket to the Masters, you’d go, but what about the average event?

Or faced with the choice between watching, say, the final round of last week’s PGA Championship with numerous players in the hunt in the comfort of your living room or struggling to traverse Whistling Straits amid heavy galleries to see the Jason Day/Jordan Spieth group that eventually produced the winner, which would you choose?

For an engaging discussion of whether it’s “worth it” check out this thread.

What GolfWRXers are saying about Kevin Kisner’s new Callaway X Forged CB irons

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been discussing Kevin Kisner’s new Callaway X Forged CB irons which he has in the bag at this week’s CJ Cup. WRXers have been commenting on the switch and the clubs themselves in our forums.

For lots more photos, check out the full thread here.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • btyh: “Holy offset.”
  • Glf_LU: “These are interesting. Not going to make a rush to judgement until I see them in person. It does look like a little more offset than I would expect to see in this model.”
  • bcflyguy1: “Kisner is not one to make a lot of equipment changes (see the GBB driver he’s still using), so if these do have staying power in his bag that will be interesting to see. I have to wonder if there’s something different about his set, because like others have mentioned there appears to be more offset on his than I recall seeing in the samples I’ve had in hand.”

WATCH: PGA Tour players play hole blindfolded and it’s hilarious/amazing

Published

on

As part of a Srixon campaign, four PGA Tour players recently participated in a three-hole challenge, with each hole being a different game; hole No. 1 was blindfolded, hole No. 2 was costumes and distractions, and hole No. 3 was alternate shot with a baseball bat. The teams were Smylie Kaufman and Sam Ryder against Shane Lowry and Grayson Murray.

Watch the full video below, since it is quite entertaining (albeit not the type of golf that Old Tom Morris surely had in mind), but in particular, make sure to check out the first hole where Lowry and Ryder play a full hole completely blind folded. It’s amazing to watch how badly Ryder struggles, and how Lowry nearly makes par.

Cleveland-Srixon’s marketing department has been hard at work crafting these viral-esque ad campaigns; if you remember, former long-drive champion Jamie Sadlowski recently dressed as 80-year-old Grandpa Jamie to fool range-goers. That video has since gathered over 1.2 million views on YouTube.
