Looking good, Dufner!

Published

on

Jason Dufner’s recent weight loss may have saved his golf career, and check out how fit he looked on Monday at the 2015 Honda Classic.

Dufner has struggled with injuries the last few years, most recently battling a neck issue that sidelined him for the 2014 PGA Championship, FedEx Cup Playoffs, and may have led to him missing out on the Ryder Cup.

“If I didn’t do it, I wasn’t going to be able to play golf,” he said of his weight loss. “I’m not really ready to give the game of golf up yet. I needed to make a change, and I did.”

Dufner changed his diet by eating mostly gluten-free and avoiding sweets and fast food, and showed up in January at the 2015 Humana Challenge 20 pounds lighter.

According to ESPN, Dufner indulged in one In-and-Out burger while in California, but he’s continuing to eat right and stay healthy.

Here’s a before-and-after photo for comparison.

He looks sick. Doesn’t look right or athletic at all.

Weight loss isn’t just about getting skinny. It sounds like the Duf was tired of being out of shape and hurt. No shame in that. I think he looks healthy and heck there’s almost a smile out of him.

He wasn’t really fat before at all, a bit chubby perhaps. But he now looks worse to me, he looks sick and weak.

finally there are no obese golfers out there… this is athletic sport. hope this scales down to social player – less BBQ and beer and more sport!!! ban the carts so everyone walks… well 60+ can have a cart!

Do you really think he looks “athletic” here? he looks like they stood him up of a wheelchair for the photo, like he is suffering from some muscle destroying disease. He might feel better and he might play better, but in this photo he is hardly a poster boy for the new type of “athletic” golfer.

Christian, he might look sickly to you because our concept of what a normal person should look like has become so skewed that an ideal weight person is sickly now. Europeans or Aussies would likely not think that. Its just us Americans (assuming you are one also)!

Which other portly pga golfer lost a lot of weight and then said it completely ruined his swing?

Does it matter for him to lose weight though? Unless Dufner stops sucking on chewing tobacco, he’s going to die of mouth and throat cancer anyway or at least lose part of his jaw, teeth and gumline by the time he’s eligible for the senior tour.

Busty – Carl Pettersson. He lost a ton, but he said it messed up his game, so he went back to being fat.

Happy to see him get that part of his life turned for the better. He is a solid player and quite frankly it would be nice to see him and Amanda in the winner’s circle more often.

Great job on the weight loss, now do something to save your life and quit the chew if he is. Oh man not good to lose half your mouth to mouth cancer. Not good.

What GolfWRXers are saying about Kevin Kisner’s new Callaway X Forged CB irons

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been discussing Kevin Kisner’s new Callaway X Forged CB irons which he has in the bag at this week’s CJ Cup. WRXers have been commenting on the switch and the clubs themselves in our forums.

For lots more photos, check out the full thread here.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • btyh: “Holy offset.”
  • Glf_LU: “These are interesting. Not going to make a rush to judgement until I see them in person. It does look like a little more offset than I would expect to see in this model.”
  • bcflyguy1: “Kisner is not one to make a lot of equipment changes (see the GBB driver he’s still using), so if these do have staying power in his bag that will be interesting to see. I have to wonder if there’s something different about his set, because like others have mentioned there appears to be more offset on his than I recall seeing in the samples I’ve had in hand.”

WATCH: PGA Tour players play hole blindfolded and it’s hilarious/amazing

Published

on

As part of a Srixon campaign, four PGA Tour players recently participated in a three-hole challenge, with each hole being a different game; hole No. 1 was blindfolded, hole No. 2 was costumes and distractions, and hole No. 3 was alternate shot with a baseball bat. The teams were Smylie Kaufman and Sam Ryder against Shane Lowry and Grayson Murray.

Watch the full video below, since it is quite entertaining (albeit not the type of golf that Old Tom Morris surely had in mind), but in particular, make sure to check out the first hole where Lowry and Ryder play a full hole completely blind folded. It’s amazing to watch how badly Ryder struggles, and how Lowry nearly makes par.

Cleveland-Srixon’s marketing department has been hard at work crafting these viral-esque ad campaigns; if you remember, former long-drive champion Jamie Sadlowski recently dressed as 80-year-old Grandpa Jamie to fool range-goers. That video has since gathered over 1.2 million views on YouTube.
