Look, what golf clubs Danny Noonan is currently playing hardly matter towards the golfer young Noonan has become.

It appears that Rory goes back and forth from the toe sweep wedge and the standard 59 wedge. I am guessing the toe sweep is for tighter conditions and the standard is for wetter and fluffier conditions?

    • Max

      Sep 1, 2014 at 12:28 pm

Just the other way. Toe sweep when the course has think rough. And the normal one for tighter conditions.

Does anybody know what his yardage gap is between 4 iron and 5 wood? I would’ve thought it would be quite large.

    • Steve

      Aug 13, 2014 at 1:40 pm

I would imagine the yardage not being large.. I remember Rory hitting the 5 wood about 245. And I’ve seen him hit the 5 iron from 205-220. I assume he can hit the 4 iron 230-240. Not sure if he had lower irons in the bag, but the numbers between the 5wood and long irons are not much different.

I know for a fact that Rory’s golf pride new decade black and white grips are made with reminders in them but golf pride refuses to sell the same style and color to the public. What’s up with that? James

Who forges the ball he uses? I thought titleist made the best ball. Sorry, sarcasm.

      So…… It’s a special 1 of 1 NDMC grip?

Minus the original color of blk/wht.

    • Pat

Who cares. Grips with reminders on them aren’t special.

Yeah I bet if I had the stuff Rory and Tiger plays, you know that superior stuff made by Miura instead of that phoney Nike crap I could have won the PGA too! After all we all know it’s the arrow not the indian.

    Aug 11, 2014 at 6:43 am

Can we stop the Nike/Miura debate? Being the same head shape, it wouldn’t make a performance difference anyway. It would be the same ball flight, weighting, turf interaction, spin, etc. It would only change the feel. So just stop, please. And btw, Miura is overrated anyway.

Who cares anymore..the people who talk about what forging house.. in what part of Japan ..an on an on an on are usually mid to high cappers who spend more time talking about some secret society forging house than working on their game ..I’ve had George Spirits, Miura tourney blades , Miura 1957 Baby blades and their all great , but at the time I was a +3 with 5 wins on the mini tour with a personnel best run of 34 rounds in the 60’s back in 07 ..nowadays I’m a 2 and average 74 75ish with the occasional low round ..and some high..now it’s just fun money games with the guys so blades for me are out I can still hit’em but it’s more work than I want , I’m hitting the ’14 ap2’s with gti x1’s ..love’em.. Pocket cavity, smallish head with extra sole help..my last two rounds were 72 last saturday and today 76 , just a nice walk around the course with friends..I’m not going to drive an hour and pay good money just to fight the course all day..unless you play golf to make your mortgage, car, and credit card payments , swing playable gear

Clubface is parallel to the inlinced plane and left forearm, that’s generally referred to as square. Also means he has a neutral to weak LH grip. Rory also does not bow his left wrist (palmer-flexion) on the downswing to square the club face, he rotates? his forearms fully. Notice the club goes left and the left arm stays next the to chest. Very powerful, though a bit more inconsistent than the block or stable release. BTW he’s not laid-off.

In addition, Johnny Miller can still wipe me out with his ol’ McGregors and Jack can still blow me to smitherines with Topflites. My dad can still massacre me with his beat up old 1950’s Titliests. My point is great golfers play great clubs. Which clubs are great for you? You gotta go find out!!! Thats part of the fun of playing golf.

  15. rixirox

    Aug 4, 2014 at 2:03 pm

While I have enjoyed all the commentary and replies, I feel compelled to throw in my $.02 cents worth. Let me ask you Do great golfers make golf clubs great or do great golf clubs make the golfer great? Within reason I suspect its a little of both. I found my club by trial and error. I played each one until I found a brand I could hit well when I was 16 years old. I can still hit Titliest clubs better than anything else. The only exception is the Scotty Cameron putter. An Odyssey White Ice is my “Drano”. In short, Buy what you hit good and learn how to PLAY’EM WELL.

    • Joe

      Aug 10, 2014 at 10:29 pm

I think it’s the Indian and not the arrow. Once you get to a certain quality baseline, club choice is mostly personal preference, aesthetics and that sort of thing. Does anyone think Rory couldn’t crank out 320 yard drives right down the middle with any top of the line driver from any manufacturer?

  16. goal!!!

    Aug 4, 2014 at 11:59 am

Rory is on fire right now. For some reason he just rubs me the wrong way and am not fan. But there is no denying he is the world #1 right now.

I’m pretty sure the clubs rory used are fairy comparable to what is sold at retail. There are probably some tweaks here and there but nothing drastic. Tell me if you think I’m off on this and tell me how the are different. I’m curious.

    • Lee

      Aug 4, 2014 at 1:23 pm

The irons are Miura but the Nike shelf offering is pretty good and no where near the Miura price if you’re in the blade market (personally I wouldn’t look past Titleist 714 MB’s or Mizuno MP4’s but that’s me). The driver is a pure Rory special, will we see a retail version I’ve been told unlikely.

      • K1

        Aug 4, 2014 at 2:11 pm

That is a myth that keeps coming up, but just is not true. Tom Stites did an interview and said “Never in the past, not now, not ever, will any of the Nike irons be forged Miura products, that’s a fact.”

  17. MHendon

    Aug 4, 2014 at 11:30 am

The only people complaining making a bunch or unsubstantiated claims that the clubs the pro’s use aren’t the same as what we can buy are the 10 plus handicaps looking for an excuse for why they suck!

    • bradford

      Aug 11, 2014 at 12:57 pm

Can’t speak for Nike, but I can tell you with 100% certainty that TM pros do not play what is on the shelf. Even though the “Tour” versions may be closer, the heads made for the tour and the heads you can buy aren’t even close.

      • bradford

        Aug 11, 2014 at 12:58 pm

Oh, and not a “10+” not that it matters. Many higher hcp players know plenty more than me.

      • MHendon

        Aug 11, 2014 at 6:05 pm

Yes sir you are correct about that. Taylormade is notorious for having several tour only versions. I think Nike is a little guilty of that to, but for the most part what’s available on tour is available to the general public. Most importantly you could put tour equipment in a 10 handicappers hands and he’ll still be a 10 handicapper they aren’t magic.

      • Pat

        Nov 8, 2014 at 7:18 pm

MHendon you are ignorant on this topic. Tour issue clubs are different and better imo from any of the mediocre retail offerings sold at stores. Open face angles, forgings from epon, miura and other japanese forgeries, different weighting(heavier/lighter heads), tour only proto shafts, etc. are all options available for tour issue clubs which make them far superior compared to the poop off the rack.

    • Rich

Sorry but what’s a persons handicap got to do with comments on this WITB? Are you just another low marker who thinks their s&@t don’t stink just because they can hit a golf ball well? Typical

  19. kirk dunn

    Aug 3, 2014 at 11:56 pm

You guys are all delusional. …not one of these companies “make” anything….titleist, callaway, nike, cobra..etc etc…they don’t own or have forging facilities…they outsource it…and always have….so every iron you buy is done by a forging house that was sourced out by manufacturer….get over it

    • MHendon

      Aug 4, 2014 at 11:21 am

They engineer and design their products, but true most do source out the actual manufacture of their product to a forger or caster. However I believe Mizuno and Ping manufacture their own equipment. Of course that would be Mizuno forgings and Ping castings.

      • Scott

        Aug 4, 2014 at 11:54 am

Correct and Miura….but then again there are quite a few sets of Miruas out there with someone else’s logo.

      • Emily

        Aug 10, 2014 at 12:50 am

True. Most people think Nike is the biggest ‘sports manufacturing’ company in the world. In reality, they are the biggest ‘sports marketing’ company. There is a huge difference.

Nike designs their own stuff in-house, but all of their gear, including all of their shoes (running, tennis, etc.) are all manufactured by third party companies.

Again for others that don’t know, Nike does NOT own factories. They are not in the manufacturing business.

        • christian

          Aug 11, 2014 at 5:47 am

This is the exact truth. Most of the major brands outsource the actual production of equipment. Even Mizuno, that uses the Chou forging house, and does not have their own facility.
Mizuno is a bit of a special case though since Chou only forges for them using Mizunos’ own proprietary forging process, the Grain Flow Forged.

IMHO, the usage of a WITB is to see how a pro prepares and attacks a course. You get insight into the weapons they’ve chosen to put in the quiver to battle the flavor of the week. The worst outcome of the WITB is to have weekend golfers complain about the fact that they can’t purchase these off the shelf. Let’s be honest, no one that has stated this complaint has any chance of catching a tour grade iron on the sweet spot.

Let’s move past the environment of the internet and get into some constructive analysis. None of the commenters play for a living, why argue over the equipment?

The bigger question is…when do we get that putter?!?!?!

    • Scott

      Aug 4, 2014 at 11:55 am

Simple, just go buy a CAMERON that it was copied after.

      • M59O

        Aug 4, 2014 at 12:45 pm

That Cameron copied off of Ping.

        • MHendon

          Aug 4, 2014 at 3:55 pm

They all copy off each other. A patent is useless!

          • M59O

            Aug 5, 2014 at 5:32 am

True, within limits and patents do run out. My main point was that is one of the most copied putter design ever and I wanted to give credit to the original designer, Karsten Solheim.

For those who may be too young to know or remember, many of Cameron’s and others designs have their own little variations of what were originally Ping putter designs. And as was said they all (even Ping) seem to get ideas off each other and make their own changes.

Why GolfWRX can’t publish a decent article about what happened in this championship?

Winning WITB of whoever wins is not fresh news as a simple search on the forums will bring up this info. Please don’t be that lazy, You have a lot of readers that deserves more information of every event.

    • COGolfer

      Aug 3, 2014 at 10:43 pm

Agreed. Instead we have an irrelevant argument about where the irons are actually made. Who cares what the stamp says. The day the people are able to get the same clubs off the rack is the same day they start winning majors. It’s a bit different when there is a nine figure deal involved.

  23. Jem

    Aug 3, 2014 at 10:19 pm

I guess if we chose our clubs by what tour pro won the most with them, we’d all be playing MacGregors like Nicklaus. I would guess that there is not a whole lot of difference in performance between the clubs put out by the major manufacturers. With the exception of maybe the Taylormade SLDR driver, there really hasn’t been anything revolutionary in years. Does anyone doubt McIlroy would have won the Open with Titleist, or Ping, or just about any other club? If Fowler or Garcia had used Nike instead of Cobra or Taylormade would they have won? Doubtful it would have made a difference.

BTW, I’d like to see someone mention Billy Casper in all this talk about the greats. If Casper had been represented by IMG, we’d probably all be talking about the “Big 4” rather than the “Big 3”.

    • Jeff

      Oct 2, 2014 at 6:05 pm

To follow your logic, we should play whatever whomever won most played. It’s a good point. Thing is most of us don’t remember Jack. So who else has won a whole heck of a lot, what’d he play? Tiger, Nike. Here we are in a Rorys Nike WITB thread and we’re talking now about the under appreciated career of Billy Casper, who won regular tour events like crazy but couldn’t bring home more than 3 majors. Big 4? Ha. He and Johnny Miller will always be the Mormon big 2. But come on, 3 majors?

  24. MHendon

    Aug 3, 2014 at 9:08 pm

The 3 wood or 5 wood he’s swinging in that one picture is not the same as the ones shown as in his bag. Notice the sole is different, and the hosel has more silver unpainted area.

    • Pat

      Nov 8, 2014 at 7:25 pm

It’s called tour issue, made to his own specs. In your other posts you say that there is no difference between tour issue and off the rack, yet you post this. You are a hypocrite.

  25. moon

    Aug 3, 2014 at 7:57 pm

I agree with a few comments above (or below). I think as an industry wide they should stop this non-sense of selling different equipments to public vs pro’s. Making a customization is one thing. But, producing a different product using different material or process (like using a different vendor) is another matter. I don’t think this shouldn’t be even considered as a marketing plot. A similar marketing scheme I can think of is ‘bait and switch’. And, as far as I’m aware of a bait and switch is illegal.

I think such can be considered as a lie in order to intentionally fool customers. I’m interested in hearing fellow readers’ opinions whether it’s a ‘lie’ or not. But, I personally do not think it’s a lie. It’s carefully engineer practice to cheat customers. I personally think ‘fraud’ is a better word for it.

I don’t intend to single out Nike, but anyone who employees same practice. For example, there was once Miura produced Titleist 681 limited blades. I believe there were numbered 1 – 500 or something and only sold in Japan. From what I read Titleist let Miura market those in Japan because Tiger’s Titleist blades used to be forged by Miura.

    • Youse a Commie

      Aug 3, 2014 at 10:56 pm

The MOST ridiculous comment I have ever read.
How are the manufacturers supposed to test prototypes then?
I don’t see you driving F1 supercars, Daytona supercars, nor million-dollar Rolls on the street. What’s the difference? That’s a completely different vehicle to what you can buy on the street.
May be you just can’t afford what is available on the Tour, for real, since those are, in fact, very special and very expensive for a reason!

We, the public, also have to have good equipment and special treatment to aspire to. Otherwise it wouldn’t make those special things “special” now, would they, you Commie?

      • moon

        Aug 4, 2014 at 12:42 pm

I generally respect others’ opinions, but a commie? I have no idea why my opinion turn you on to make a personal attack.

Anyway, no one goes to a Ford dealer to buy a F1 racing car. A person sees a Taurus on TV, and buys a Taurus at a dealer. An average golfer goes to a golfsmith to buy a Tiger’s club and buys what he thinks is a Tiger’s club. Not every golfer out there is a GOLFWRXer like us.

When it’s a prototype, the equipments are labeled as a proto. Just like Nike MM proto or Tiger’s proto drivers. I’m perfectly fine with those since those do not confuse public. But, an equipment looks about same with same exact name as what’s available to public but produced different using different materials. I honestly think this is another matter.

I hope I did not ridicule you again.

    • Nathan

      Aug 11, 2014 at 4:40 am

      Bait and switch!
      I agree totally
but hey the golf equipment company is just trying to reach the largest possible audience with the cheapest possible materials

    • Matt

      Aug 26, 2014 at 3:55 pm

In order for your theory to even remotely be correct, you would have to prove the product they are selling is inferior. Seeing as how you will never get to compare the two, good luck.

I see a lot of Reverse C in rorys swing…makes an old man like me happy to see a modern player hang back that far and finish with an old school(1970s) bended back.
It makes for a very stressed spine but very pretty to watch…

Most of his power comes from proper pnivtoig on his right leg, meaning if you don’t load or coil your chest against a braced back leg, there is no way to un-coil your hips at a greater speed. Proper pnivtoig allows him to start his down swing in a proper and powerful sequence. Watch how he loads his chest against the braced back leg, he has? a huge shoulder turn, and phenomenal extension of his arms. FUN TO WATCH HIS SWING

Another major for Nike ha ha. Seriously, I’ve read the comments about what Rory and Tiger have in their bags is not the same equipment us Nike players have in ours. Well, my take on that is if two guys buy the same suit and have it tailored is it the same suit? No. It has been custom fit to you right? Same rule applies to clubs so stop whining because fact is in regard to raw materials the standard deviation with equipment specs is very small with legit sticks. Great win for Rory!

        Aug 3, 2014 at 7:13 pm

So does “the Indian not the Arrow” not apply to golf clubs? Does Rory play well because he may be using Miura instead of the Nike irons from the oven?

        • Ronnie Smith

          Aug 4, 2014 at 12:15 pm

Miura is #1 i don’t know if they make his irons or not but it makes sense

        • MHendon

          Aug 4, 2014 at 4:03 pm

A hunk of metal is a hunk of metal, doesn’t matter if it’s Miura, Mizuno, Titleist, Nike, Ping, Taylormade etc. If the specs are the same the ball’s going to do the same thing off each one. Only difference is the percentage of various alloys change the way the clubs feel or sound and clearly most players like a soft feel which is what you get with better forgings.

the difference in length between driver and 3 wood seems almost identical…. anyone knows?

    • MHendon

His driver use to be 45.5″ I assume it still is. My guess is his 3 wood is the standard 43″.

      No

    • JOEL GOODMAN

      Jul 21, 2014 at 3:28 pm

GOOD QUESTION. I WAS GOING TO ASK IF THESE WERE MADE BY ENDO THAT IS THE PREMIER GOLF CLUB FORGER IN ASIA. CHANCES ARE THESE ARE NOT THE ROUTINE CRAP THAT CARRIES THE NIKE BRAND.

      • Pooch

        Aug 4, 2014 at 1:03 pm

I was a professional club fitter and my Nike rep told me Nike uses Endo for their forgings. All these arguments and Nike hate is so tiresome. All these companies make good equipment it comes down to the player being fit and whats best for him or her.

    • RG

      Jul 21, 2014 at 11:57 pm

Yes. Built by Endo. They just don’t want it to get out. Its the quality of the steel and the forging that gives clubs there feel and playability. Nike doesn’t use a high quality steel in their stock irons.

      • TC

        Jul 24, 2014 at 9:17 am

First you said Miura, then Endo….

        Aug 4, 2014 at 7:39 am

But you’re a spy, right—Nike called you and told you this? Fact is the Japanese forges aren’t any better than the US forges anymore, it’s a myth.

        • Pat

          Nov 8, 2014 at 7:33 pm

Bradford, your comment is so ridiculous I had a good laugh. The forging process for irons isn’t done here in the US. These companies outsource to either a japanese or chinese forgery. And yes there is a huge difference feel wise between the two. Japanese forging is way superior. Chinese forging has a harder more clicky feel to it like the titleist forged irons. Your post tells me you’ve never hit a Japanese forged iron and that you are narrow minded.

If you need Titleist (or Nike or Taylormade) in your bag to be great, you’re not really great. I love Nike gear. Nothing at all wrong with it. But, I guarantee you that the Nike gear I buy is not the same gear a pro bags, even if the same name and model is inscribed on it. The whole WITB business is pointless as anything more than an intellectual curiosity.

    • Rich

      Aug 3, 2014 at 8:28 pm

This is a great comment. Back in the day, players used to have several different equipment contracts depending on where they were playing. I remember Jack Nicklaus or Gary Player (sorry can’t remember which) saying that they used three or four different sets of clubs a year depending on if they were in the US or Britain/Europe or Australia for instance. Didn’t stop them from winning throughout the year. Bet none of the current players could that. They used different balls too (big ball or small ball and different brands) They and the guys before them are the best ever, not Tiger and co.

      • Lee

        Aug 4, 2014 at 1:10 pm

They also didn’t have yardage charts, 150/200 markers etc, just used their eyes selected the club and pulled the trigger. IMO still the way the game should be played.

        • Jeff

Maybe all the Legends like Jack, Arnold, & Gary told Tiger and Rory that for them to be peers in greatness that they need to win with the same tech that they had back in the day. Tiger and Rory’s answer… sign and play with Nike equipment. I’d say that normalizes the effect of equipment!

    • Scooter McGavin

      Jul 21, 2014 at 6:51 am

All this continued and unwarranted hate on Nike. And probably from people who haven’t even tried their equipment. Otherwise, they would realize that the Nike Blades? Good. The covert woods? Good. Putters? Good. Wedges? I’ll admit that I haven’t tried them, so I’m not going to judge them. I still don’t get why some people get such a high from ignorantly bashing something.

      • JOEL GOODMAN

        Jul 21, 2014 at 3:31 pm

I BELIEVE IT IS BECAUSE MANY OF US BELIEVE NIKE SPENDS THEIR MONEY ON ENDORSEMENT PAYMENTS AND NOT ON THE PRODUCT. THEIR SHOES AREN’T TOO BAD BUT I HAVE NEVER SEEN A GOLF CLUB FROM NIKE THAT I WOULD PLAY.

        • bradford

          Aug 4, 2014 at 7:47 am

OK BUT PLEASE STOP YELLING AT US. ALSO PLEASE DON’T FORGET THAT NIKE IS AN ENORMOUS COMPANY THAT HAS MORE MONEY TO THROW AROUND. IT’S HARD TO FAULT THEM FOR BEING GOOD AT WHAT THEY DO. YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO “NOT PLAY” ANYTHING YOU’D LIKE, BUT THAT’S YOUR CHOICE…IT DOESN’T MEAN ANYTHING EXCEPT THAT THAT’S YOUR CHOICE. i CAN TELL YOU NOW THE CURRENT VR PROS ARE POSSIBLY THE NICEST IRONS ON THE MARKET, AND THE MM PROTOS WOULD BLOW YOUR MIND IF YOU KNEW HOW TO SWING THEM, BUT AGAIN, YOU PROBABLY WOULDN’T LIKE THEM.

      • Nick

        Jul 23, 2014 at 11:20 am

Equipment is all personally preference. People just love to hate on Nike. Like it was said, most people have not even tried it. So stuck in their ways and believing what they want. I club all Nike and week in and week out I crush guys with their so called best Titleist, TM, Callway…etc. Every year Nike equipment is on the Gold list reviews and their pros win and play well with the stuff. So all the hate is just BS.

Arnold is not in Jack, Tiger and Gary’s league. Comparing Arnold to Tiger is a insult to Tiger. And I am sure Rory is not looking at Arnold and trying to beat his goals.

      • MHendon

        Jul 21, 2014 at 11:01 am

Are you insane? That’s one of the most ridiculous statements I’ve ever heard. Arnold has over 90 world wide wins with 7 majors and one of the few men to ever get the career grand slam. Not to mention the unintangibles of probably being the most beloved and respected golfer of all time!

        • Josh

          Jul 21, 2014 at 1:57 pm

Oops I got that one wrong. 2nd was his best finish in the PGA, but everything else was accurate. Never the less I would definitely group him in the category of best players all time with Nicklaus, Player, Woods, Hogan, Snead, and Nelson.

        • steve

          Jul 21, 2014 at 4:16 pm

How did you hear it? I think you read it. He didn’t win the career grand slam. Jones, Hogan, Jack, Player and Tiger did, all legends. So get your facts straight. And you think Palmer’s career compares the Tigers? Tiger doubled his major count and could still add too. Do you think Rory is looking at Palmer as the man to beat? I don’t care about the autographs he signs and how he is a great example, I am posting about his playing career nothing else.

          • leftright

            Aug 4, 2014 at 12:14 pm

You know nothing about Arnold Palmer, it is obvious as you concentrate on his golfing talents and not the man. Jack will go down as the greatest golfer but if you “can read” which I doubt from your post you will find that statistically, Bryon Nelson may be the greatest golfer of all time. He quit in his prime, much like Bobby Jones and played the tour like it was a hobby and not a job. One year he took it seriously and won 11 in a row and 18 tournaments in one year. He is known as the straightest ball striker of all the great ones. He was also one hell of a man, with charitable and community accomplishments and one of the most respected golfers of all time. You would search far and long to find anything negative about Byron. Golf is more than being good at a game. I’ve heard many stories and they start, he was a good golfer but…he was a good golfer but cheated, he was a good golfer but cursed or threw clubs or hit his wife or had 4 wives and 5 girlfriends or was an alcoholic. Get my drift.

          • Lee

            Aug 4, 2014 at 1:18 pm

Speaking of getting your facts right check Gene Sarazen I think you’ll find he’s one of the Grand Slammers not Bobby Jones (he’s just a legend!)

            Nov 8, 2014 at 7:39 pm

Wow dude, you are ignorant and a hater. Did you lose a bet to Arnold Palmer as a kid? Or maybe he took your daddy’s week’s salary on a bet.

      • leftright

        Aug 4, 2014 at 12:04 pm

Actually, comparing anyone to Arnold Palmer is an insult to Arnold Palmer who was a very good PGA pro. Arnold had a good game but his legacy is he brought it to the masses. Perhaps, the only reason you might be playing golf is because of Arnold, the most charismatic and likeable golfer of all time. You just insulted Arnold Palmer and that might be a first. WRX’s are a weird bunch but no one insults Arnold. You really should apologize. When Arnold Palmer passes it will be as big as any POTUS, Pope or anyone who ever passed including Elvis. Palmer is at a level of human being that maybe 10 people in the history of the earth have attained.

A stupid statement is posting that Arnold won all 4 majors! Tiger won all 4 in a row. Tiger has alot, more tour wins than Palmer. Is Palmer a Hall of Famer, ofcourse. Is he a legend? depends who you ask. To me he is not, if he would have won the PGA then he would be. But he didn’t.

        • MHendon

          Jul 22, 2014 at 1:18 am

Sorry Steve but the stupid statement was directed towards the person who said Tiger and Rory switched to Nike clubs so they’re equipment would be similar to what they used back in Nicklaus, Palmer, and Players day. But I think most anyone would consider Palmer a legend. I guarantee you Tiger does.

I’m not a physicist but it seems that 59 degree wedge sweet spot would be more towards the toe and it would be very fade biased.

    • KK

      Jul 20, 2014 at 6:25 pm

Maybe the toe is balanced by the hosel. That could actually increase MOI and forgiveness.

      • MHendon

        Jul 20, 2014 at 8:32 pm

True but only if the hosel has more mass than other wedges.

    • Jack F

      Jul 21, 2014 at 1:20 pm

Anyone know if he plays a majority of his shots with the face open when using the 59? That would place the center of mass behind the ball with the heel ground like that, wouldn’t it?

    • Mike ather

      Jul 22, 2014 at 4:18 am

Even if it was, how much fade could you get on a 59 degree wedge? Little if any I expect. The ball will basically go wherever the face points.

      Lets recap:

-A major, #1 in the world, player of the year with Titleist.

      -2 tournament wins with Nike?

I’m not saying one is better than the other, but using this as proof that the “haters” were wrong is pretty stupid…

      • froneputt

        May 28, 2014 at 7:04 am

      • DC

        Jul 21, 2014 at 6:31 am

Modern day archers need specific equipment calibrated to their shooting form. The physics of arrow flight include the real effects of aerodynamic drag on the trajectory of an arrow, requiring specific calculations, leading into significant insight into the techniques and equipment that can improve archery success. So if the equipment doesn’t hold up and fit your style, you cannot reach your full potential.

Translation: You need both to achieve greatness.
