Tweets of the Week: Post-Presidents Cup Edition

This edition of Tweets is both very Presidents Cup and photo-centric. Now a few days removed from the golf that fit between Sammy the Squirrel and the Stricker-loving streaker, we can take a look back on a few of the more memorable social media moments from the week of Captain Couples and company’s Presidents Cup victory.

First, here’s an instantly iconic shot (and great hashtag) from Amanda Dufner’s Instagram. Tiger Woods, Jason Dufner, and Phil Mickelson are seen conversing in their team suits. The composition of the shot is great, reminiscent of the sort of “contrived candid” style of a men’s magazine or a Polo ad. Further, like a great portrait, the poses suggest something about the subjects: Tiger looks like a bad**, Dufner looks casual and relaxed and Phil is giving his usual cerebral assessment of a situation.

Jason Dufner posted the following picture, along with a homage to Kanye West’s “Clique.” The shot is another instant classic, showing stars of the U.S. team in post-celebratory mode. Dufner, for his part, is actually smiling, which is analogous to ecstatic leaps and exclamations for him. Keegan Bradley, well, he’s wearing the Presidents Cup on his head. Phil looks like’s he’s feeling the effects of the nights revels, and backwards-hatted Tiger is bro-ing it up with Captain Couples, who maintains his eternal cool.

Next, a photo from Lindsey Vonn’s Instagram that boyfriend Tiger Woods likely wishes she hadn’t posted. The only thing Team Tiger has collectively done more work on than the golfer’s swing during the past decade is his hairline. Whatever sorcery has been applied to the Woodsian tresses looks woefully insufficient in this photo.

Hopefully it’s just an Instagram filter.

Presidents Cup captain’s pick Jordan Spieth tweeted the following shot of himself and the pioneer of Dufnering himself. Spieth and Dufner are seen assuming the viral golf position of 2013, with even the trophy getting in on the act.

Columbus’ NHL team, the Blue Jackets presented the proprietor of Muirfield Village and host of the 2013 Presidents Cup with a No. 18 jersey bearing his name. Nicklaus’ official Twitter account produced the following shot.

Seems like most holders lose their hair though. I think it’s from wearing the golf hat too much?

Some of the biggest names in golf have taken home the title here, including Arnold Palmer, Ben Hogan, Lee Trevino, and Ben Crenshaw.

GolfWRX has its usual assortment of general galleries, WITBs and special pull-out albums. As always, we’ll continue to update the links below as more photos come in from TPC San Antonio.
