The oddest thing about his irons is that if you know the Ping color chart, he has some irons bent very flat and others bent upright.

Whats up with the Nippon in the irons?? Pretty sure he has always played X100… http://www.ping.com/tour/prodetails.aspx?id=2700

It looks like the sole of the LW is shiney. Guessing he has had a special grind added to it? The sw appears to have the same satin finish as rest of club so possibly stock grind and bounce on it? I’m considering the lw and sw in i25’s as well to match my set. That or the tour gorges. Definitely getting gw in it as it’s a full shot club for me.

Westwood has used/uses i20 wedges. I wonder why these guys do this?

They want the bounce for some reason. These have more bounce than the Gorge’s. Does not look like a special grind to the i25’s. I’ll admit, that is unusual, tour pro using those wedges.

Players go with what works. Westwood continues to use i20 irons to this day, with the long exception of his lob wedge.

Wow we have the same specs (well almost) White dot and blue dot wedges

Those are not i25 wedges in the bag…

The i25 clubs you see in the picture are Sand and Lob wedges.

Really? Did you look at the photos? What are they then?

    • David

      Jun 29, 2015 at 6:55 pm

The sand and lob wedge are indeed i25’s. The pitching wedge is an S55.

Anyone know what swing weight the fairway wood is ?

Interesting that his irons are D2 then the hybrid D3 and finally the Driver is D4 so what’s the fairway wood swing weight ?

I REALLY want that Rogue shaft!

Interesting that at least some of his S55 are blue dot (0.75 up, shorter irons) while others are white dot (3 deg up, longer irons) . . . . . seems like a pretty big range.

I think the paint fill just fell out of these…the same thing happened to mine (green dots fell out of 3 irons so far)… cuz I have such incredible swing speed…or it was a mfg malfunction due to crappy quality control in China.

I agree.Very confusing but there has to be a method to the madness.

I saw someone say his wedges were blue dot and irons were white…. I see white dot wedges and blue and white dot and some look like paint is missing in the dots on the rest of his irons.

I have never seen this drastic difference in lie in such close irons. I play D2-D5 Swing Weights with the D2 being 3 or 4 irons through 9 iron and then
D3-D5 being in the Pw,50,56, and 60* wedges. Also I play Blue dots being 6’3 until my 9 iron and PW and then go flatter to black dot and then my 50,56 and 60* being a half degree flat. Different strokes for different folks I guess, or it is an optical illusion!?!?!

why do most of the PING Pga pros play the G Series Drivers rather than the I Series, (or old Anser) ?

    • OGF

      Aug 25, 2014 at 12:38 am

      More forgiving, easier to hit

    • Str8shot

      Sep 3, 2014 at 7:04 pm

They are stupid easy to hit, long, forgiving, tons enjoy the acoustics they provide, also if it is paired with the right and proper shaft it is a solid 10/10 straight hitter every single swing if you hit the club face as planned and right in the middle! G series is awesome!

Interesting that he used I25 WEDGES

    • JB

      Aug 25, 2014 at 3:21 am

Ya that kind of shocked me as well. I thought the Gorge wedges weren’t too bad? Idk how anyone could hit those i25 wedges from tight lies. #bladedit

      • Rich

        Aug 26, 2014 at 4:35 am

Just close the face a bit. Will take all the bounce off and you can get the leading edge under the ball. Most guys are too focused on opening the face on wedge shots but closing the face also has it’s uses. Besides, if you hold the face square, a bit of bounce never hurts from tight lies as it stops the leading edge digging if you’re not quite perfect with the shot. Cheers

very interesting. I notice guys like Hunter and Jason Day go backwards from conventional thinking. Day’s bag is totally backwards though, with his bladey long irons, player mids, and shovel like wedges.

I’m going to try putting my i20 wedges back into play.

His driver was 42.25″? Typo or nah?
