Anyone had the chance to crunch one of these highly dimpled golf balls down the middle of the fairway?? How is it for side spin, carry and greenside or is it just another average Top Flite offering tuat gets a little hype on the golf channel and then fizzles away after a couple of years?? Any input would be helpful. Thinking about buying 6 dozen.

Haven't played the 2014 version but I've rocked the V2 and on for the last couple years. Its a very decent ball at its price point ($15/dz). There are other good offerings. It will go in the hole.

Things I enjoyed(anecdotal) ; Distance, low spin, durability.

Currently I've moved on to the TM Lethal which was at a really great price and the practice version is still pretty cheap. Good luck.

I play them and I like the distance and lack of side spin I get from them. I bought 10 doz of them at $12.98/doz. and that's what I am going to use this year. Of the 10 doz I bought, 5 doz are the Gamer Tours. Some reasons I went to this ball are:
1) Good reputation as the "poor man's pro V.
2) Distance
3) Low side spin
4) Price $ , if I lose one into the hazard it's only a dollar vs 3-4 bucks.
5) I have played them a couple rounds last year and 10 rounds this year in florida and have zero problem keeping them on the green.
Cons
1) Not real flashy looking (but I put markings on them, putting line/3dots, to make them appealing
2) the yellow is not the Sirxon nice yellow, a little bland.

all in all, a great value!

I switched from the NXT Tour the the V2 a couple of years ago and it was a great ball.  When the V2 was discontinued after the sale of Top-Flite to Dicks, the 2013 Gamer was rated as having little spin, so I went to the Gamer Tour which was great for my game.  Not sure about the 2014 Gamer Tour, but the 2014 Gamer has the exact same specs as the older V2 which I am going to check out. There is also a new Gamer "Soft" which was just announced so very little performance info.

Golf Digest has given the Gamer its due in its "hot" list, but don't expect a lot of attention on the golf Channel or the talking heads. Although Dicks is big advertiser, they do not seem to push their own golf balls.  In my opinion, however, the Gamer has been a good line of golf balls.

A lot of people compare it to the Wilson Duo which I like but at a slightly better price. For whatever reason I've always performed well with "so called" cheap balls but I don't find anything inferior about Top Flites or Wilsons for that matter.

Dick's has the Gamer 2 Doz for 30.00 and the Gamer Tour 2 Doz for 35.00. I have been playing the Duo but had to buy some Gamer's today at that price.

Have you tried the Gamer Tour, it has a urethane cover, and it's a 3 piece, I think.

the Gamer is a great ball... the tour is definitely a baller budget ball... kinda like the E5  but I think the Gamer wins in my opinion   I had trouble getting the Gamer to stop as well.. the tour will stop better.  but I have always struggled with hitting the ball crisp enough to stop it quickly.  even when I was a 6 handicap.  Im not anymore after giving the game up for 8 years... after three seasons, i am only down to a 12.

i play a Zstar now... but I hate dishing out all that money... luckily I dont lose them nearly as bad as i did once before.

The Gamer Tour has very good spin and checks well on the greens.  The old Gamer V2 was somewhat longer and also held the green great for a surlyn ball.  I would try the Gamer Tour since the verdict on the 2014 Gamer is still out.

Just went on to Dick's and Golf Galaxy websites and there are no more Top Flite Gamers on either site.  Both have the Gamer Tour, but no longer have the Gamer or Gamer Soft.  Any ideas?

Here's a few sales on ebay I found. The Gamer (I play these) are a great distance ball without a lot of side spin to help keep you drives straight. The Gamer Tour(I play these as well) are a 3 piece soft urethane covered ball, which allow for spin on the green. Gamer = "poor man's pro V". The Gamer Soft, which I haven't played and are new for 2014, I'm sure would treat you well. I got mine on sale for $12.99/doz(gamer) and $14.99/doz (tour).
good luck

I only meant you live in the golf store capital of the world. And that you don't have to worry about not having either a dicks or a golf galaxy. My guess is that dicks is changing its approach. I'm pretty surprised that they aren't on the site as a new ball.

You would think we were the golf capital if you believe the chamber of commerce.  We have 2 Watts, 1 Golf Galaxy, 2 Golfsmith and 2 Dicks.  The 2 Watts, Golf Galaxy, 1 Dicks and 1 Golfsmith are all by Universal Studios.  If you are a tourist, you have access to golf stores.  If you are a resident here Good Luck.  Sorry about your Gators.

Just searched Dick's website and the new Gamer and Gamer Soft are on the site along with the old Gamer Tour box. GG's site does not have the Gamer or Gamer Soft. As previously stated, the physical stores have a ton of stock of all of these balls.

I got to compare the Gamer against the Duo today. Off the tee I was getting 5 to ten yards more out of the Duo and it had a better feel to me. I think I will try the Duo against the Super soft next.

Thanks.  When I said "any ideas", I meant has anybody heard anything that would cause the websites not to have them.  My kids call me an angry texter because of my one word responses, I guess I need to learn how to post better also LOL

Just searched Dick's website and the new Gamer and Gamer Soft are on the site along with the old Gamer Tour box. GG's site does not have the Gamer or Gamer Soft. As previously stated, the physical stores have a ton of stock of all of these balls.

i just searched em.. cant find anthing but the old gamer tour...

the top flite site has the new box for the tour, gamer, and gamer yellow, but no soft.... which is odd...
this is/was a new for this year ball i thought

I always seem to hit the top flites longer off the tee, may have to pick up a dozen if they're so cheap.

Hmmm...they were there when I searched the other day although not under the golf category, but now they are gone. From what I have seen, Dick's has been terrible at updating their brand sites (most of the Top Flite is left over from Callaway and the Maxfli site has always been behind).
