I was hemming and hawing but the bag sealed it for me. Worst comes to worst I can flip it on the BST.

Twitter is not that bad.  Take for instance yesterday.  I complimented a friend of mine on twitter for raising money for their church and i ONLY got 3 people telling me "go f**k yourself you zealot enabler"

Those were just GolfWRX regulars taking time off from bashing every course that ever hosted a US Open where the winner was below par, and advocating for the R&A to take over the USGA...

No, those were the WRXers who said they could make a PGA Tour cut and possibly win with unlimited funds and then realized they'll never have unlimited funds.

Had a lot of fun filming for Monte’s new video. Definitely the best one yet. It’s got some stuff in it that I hadn’t been exposed to yet.

Also had a chance to work on my swing a bit. Monte really likes where it’s at, and I’m hitting it really well. Just time for some small tweaks. Backswing and  start of transition are money. Now I need to get my left shoulder to separate from my chin into the downswing. My left shoulder works up a little too much right now.

When I do it right,  it brings the ball flight down and it’s a nice piercing trajectory.

I was crushing some drivers on the range too, which actually elicited a compliment from Monte. Those of you who’ve been to his clinics know this is a rare bird lol.

I also had the pleasure of meeting JohnRobison while on the range. If you’re ever headed to OC, this guy knows all the spots for good grub!

I prefer to match my hat, and umbrella, to my irons.  That's scratch-ier.  Now I need to dig up a Bridgestone umbrella.

I’d say preference. Usually left pocket is glove and right pocket is yardage book for me.

Is glove supposed to go in left back pocket or right back pocket?

I'd say preference. Usually left pocket is glove and right pocket is yardage book for me.

With Monte as your instructor - isn't it supposed to go in one of the cargo pockets?

First time he tried this on you, did you drop the club at the top of the backswing, look him in the eye and say “what, you think you’re better than me?”

Actually, I striped it, and he looks at me deadpan and goes "maybe you need someone to do that on every shot"

My instructor in high school would have me do math during my swing. He’d say, high draw, then in the middle of my backswing say “4 * 8” then low draw, “6 squared” then I’d answer right after impact while hitting the shot he called out.

Love the hat slap.

After 3 months of waiting, it's finally here! Taylormade P790 UDI 2i, Project X HZRDUS Black 6.5. I hit it on the range this morning and it's a beast! Can't wait to get it out on the course. Should make short work of tight par 4's. I'm thinking I'll go Driver, 3w, UDI for my home course and swap in the 5 wood when the course requires it.

Nice round today! Posted Image

Thanks George!

For anyone that doesn't follow me on Instagram, I shot 69 (-3) at my home course with 6 birdies. That's also the most I've ever made in one round. My best round from the competition tees. I also lipped out an eagle putt and almost made another birdie. After a very bad round yesterday it was pretty exciting.

I'm fighting some of my typical habits, a bit too much arm swing, which shifts my hands out a bit in transition, and can lead to some pull draws and hooks. It's a fraction of what it used to be though. It's a tendency that I'll always fight.

I took some video to check things out and saw the arm overrun and made some setup tweaks. That lead to today's round. The greens and fairways that I did miss weren't by much.

Overall in my game, here's how things are shaping up:

Driver: Killing it. Launching it nice and high and getting great carry numbers. Had a few in the past few days that were 290-300, all carry (some plugged balls). Hitting a high draw that over draws on mishits. Fear of the right with driver is virtually nonexistent.

Fairway woods: Hitting 3w and 5w really well. I was never good with a 3w in my hand, in fact I was atrocious with it, but my swing has improved so much that I'm comfortable hitting it off the tee and off the deck now.

Irons: Probably the weakness in my game, but really came alive in today's round. I need to take a bit more club, shorten my arm swing and flight the ball a little lower. Results in vastly improved accuracy and distance control.

Wedges: Wedging it really nicely. Made some setup tweaks that have resulted in better contact and distance control. I've gone back to a 4 wedge setup, PW, 50, 54, 58 because I had way too much of a yardage gap especially on shorter courses. It was too much to try and flight a 52 exactly right or hit a 58 harder.

Sand game is as strong as ever. The bunkers at my course used to be hard pan and not much sand at all. They've added a ton of sand to all of them, and I feel it's made it easier for me to get up/down.

Putting: Excellent. Lagging it phenomenally and short putts are strong as well. Misses are coming more from misreads than stroke issues. More to come on this in a later post.

I'm sort of at a crossroads in my game. I'm hitting the ball more than adequately. I need to learn to score better and more consistently. I can hit all the shots, and there's nothing that's glaringly wrong that's preventing me from improving.

A large portion of what I need to work on now is between the ears. I need to trust my ability and just go out there and play. I've said it before what Hal said, learning to know the game of golf intimately. I feel like I have one foot in that door. Now it's just about committing and getting out there and doing it.

Like everyone else, I face some self-doubt in my game. I'm a better player than I give myself credit for sometimes. I went from a ~18 handicap down to a +1 in a relatively short period of time, so at times it's hard to see myself as that low handicap player. Part of it is also that I haven't been playing the game all that long. In any event, I always like to be honest about my experience on this golf journey.

I've had some in depth conversations with Monte and with some friends that are plus handicaps about scoring and mental game. I'm also in the process of reading Ray Floyd's "Elements of Scoring." So far, it seems to be doing the trick.

Stay tuned in the next couple weeks, I've got some cool stuff planned. :pimp:
