I know this may sound stupid but please bear with me - I am just getting in to the game.  I am going to buy an old set of ping eye 2 becu irons.  When looking at the ping color chart, what does upright or flat mean?  Am I correct to assume that flat means more loft and upright means less loft from standard black?

A flat lie means that as you hold the club the toe of the club is lower and the sole(bottom) is flatter to the ground. If you have a iron that is too upright, the toe is angled up. If you're right handed and you're clubs are too upright it will have a tendency for your shots to go a little left of your target. Hope I didn't confuse you.I'm not good at explaining stuff in writing.
I have a excellent short game. It's unfortunate that it starts on the Tee.

Callaway Epic/ Stiff Hzrdus
Taylormade RBZ 19 Hybrid
Titleist 910H 22* Hybrid
Callaway 2007 X-Forged 4-PW

The color chart only refers to the "lie" and "length".

Just carefully follow the instructions about how to measure yourself or better, have someone else measure you.  Then select the color that's shown.  If you're off by a color or so, it shouldn't matter very much.

The chart has nothing to do with loft.

So lie is the angle formed between the top of the club head and the shaft?

No.  The angle of the sole of the clubhead, as it relates to the shaft.

Got it now.   Thanks.  Just need to find a black dot lob wedge at a reasonable price now.  Would it matter if I went to blue or red on the lob?

One color code off, isn't likely to change your results.

Many people play their wedges 1* flat. Not saying you have to do this but Red, in your case, would be the one. Also, not to be a 'wet blanket', but if you're looking for a BeCu LW the word 'reasonable' might not attach. They are around and folks know what they are worth. Like New can be $200.00+. Average is at least $100.00. Sorry to be the spoiler. They ARE in demand. Regular (steel) can easily be had, in very good condition, for $40-50.00.
Good Luck.
