Did a quick search and didn't see a topic for this yet. I was at Golfsmith today and saw the Callaway X Hot N14 line. The driver looks interesting considering it is glued rather than adjustable, but the rest of the line looks the same as last year's X Hot line with a different finish and shafts.

I was at a golf shop last week when these were delivered. The driver and 3w looked cool. The ones I seen had glued in pro launch shafts. I liked the sole of the woods were bare steel instead of painted black. I guess this is like the $199 glued RBZ that Taylormade released.

All regular. Looks like the driver is only available in 9.5 and 10.5 lofts and fairways are only available in 3 & 5. Stock shaft was a Grafalloy Pro Launch Axis of some kind (not Red, Blue, or Platinum, shaft was white and black).

Can't you still find the original for a better price???? Granted from what I have read not a lot people like the PXV shafts used as stock in these.

I created a thread last week but I couldn't remember the "N14" designation. It never received much feedback other than this was Cally'a attempt at following Taylormade's chrome bottomed, bonded RBZ line.

Prices were $30 less than current XHot pricing.

These look really, really nice!

I'd love to see a review on them.

I usually have all of my clubs at neutral settings to begin with, so these might fit the bill.

I would have preferred these over my X Hots. I haven't adjusted my driver one time since I bought it. And I like the silver metallic soles and faces a lot more than the painted versions I have. Looks like you can also get the hybrids. If I ever have to replace any of mine, it will be with these.

I see they also have N14 irons. Whats the difference in those with the original XHot?

Not sure. Maybe Harry will pop in and shed some light on these for us.

The shafts on the irons are listed as Callaway Unuflex steel. Maybe that's it?

I think the N14 line is just going to be a reasonably priced set for retail purchase. No custom options, unifiex shafts, must purchase 8 irons or iron/hybrid combos, etc.

I just bought the N14 X hot irons at my local Golfsmith.

They were $399 new while the original Xhots were $499 new.

The Uniflex shafts in the N14s work just fine for me.

The interesting thing I noticed about my N14s is that they don't have the bore-thru slots at the bottom like the original X Hots.

This is typical from major golf manufacturers lately. I am a store manager with one of the major sporting good retailers, we see this all the time. The big manufacturers will often offer exclusive releases or sometimes re-releases of popular models. You see it a lot with that one big golf company and that one big sports store. These models are often made with cut corners for less wholesale cost and greater margin for both parties, as well as no R&D overhead. That is why you will see them with cheaper and generic shaft options and why, like in this case, a previously black or pvd finished club will now be polished or satin chrome/metal.

I am just relaying facts and by no means hating on this. It is usually great for both the oem and retailer, as well as a huge bonus to the average consumer. If your average weekend golfer "Joe" dreamed of owning Burner 2.0 irons in 2010 when they were new but couldn't afford them them, he can now buy them for $299 brand new instead of buying a beat up set off craigslist for the same price. Proshops and big golf stores will continue carrying the latest and greatest which he cannot afford anyway but, the big box sporting goods store is luckily still having them manufactured by the oem and he can get them. You won't find them listed on the oem website because they are pushing the new stuff. And so what is they are silver instead of black and have a uniflex shaft, "Joe" is a 30 handicap that usually hits more beers than fairways anyway.  just my .02

The Uniflex shafts in my N14 Xhots are True Temper and they work well for my moderate SS (kinda regular/firm),

so I felt that I could save a little $$ with these.

The interesting thing I noticed about my N14s is that they don't have the bore-thru slots at the bottom like the original X Hots.

Aside from not being bore-thru on the bottom,  my N14 Xhot iron heads look the same to me as the original.

Callaway did the same thing a few years ago with the x18r. Looked identical to the x18 but didn't have the bore through hosel.

Now that I bought the N14 Xhot irons (they seem nice so far),
I'm hoping that the only difference from the original Xhots are the Uniflex shafts and the non bore-thru heads.

I think you did well. I would have no problem gaming them. Nike does the same thing with the machspeed irons. I think they re released them for a few years with minor changes at the $299 price point. For someone wanting a new set of clubs on a budget you could buy most of the N14 line for less than $1000. I know Dicks even has burner 3.0s.

I believe the primary difference in the Fairway woods is that the N14's are Titanium rather than steel.

I copied this from Golfsmith "The Callaway X Hot N14 Fairway Wood is engineered to give players more ball speed, forgiveness, and accuracy, resulting in longer shots more consistently. X Hot N14's all-titanium design has an optimized center of gravity (CG) location for distance, so that means you'll launch the ball higher with less backspin, thus delivering long, penetrating ball flights."

Could be an error on their site, I will be at GolfTec on Thursday and will check one out.

Edit* - Another site lists them as stainless.

Likely a misprint. It looks like that 2nd sentence was borrowed from the driver description.

I would think that they are the same as the regular X Hots materials...titanium for the woods and steel for the irons.

What I wonder is what's the N14 stand for? Maybe new 2014 to differentiate from the regular line? I thought maybe Harry would shed some light on this but he probably doesn't keep up with anything the pros won't use.
