I have a Ping Hoofer Vantage bag that's giving me trouble as it's getting harder and harder to keep my clubs from sticking when I try to get them in and out of the bag. So, I had my eye on a Titleist sc75 Cart bag (all black) but was curious what some of the members here have to say. Are cart bags OK or not?

The purist in me is wondering whether they're just one step away from a staff bag. No offense to staff bag owners (I used to have one myself) but I just don't think you should carry one unless you're on a golf tour. That's just me. I rarely walk so the cart bag's divider system would make it a lot easier to get my clubs in an out.

Thoughts?

I use a cart bag, even though I walk (I use a push cart). I happen to think my Bag Boy NXO Revolver is pretty styish:

If you never walk, then a cart bag makes more sense, IMHO.

There's nothing wrong with cart bags and there are plenty on the market that have some "style" and don't look like the Country Club bags of old. The titleist models, Sun Mountain and Ogio bags all look great and are very functional. I might get shot for saying this, but the one thing I really hate on a cart bag is one of those external putter tubes. Fortunately there are plenty of bags with the putter well built-in.

If you feel self conscious about a cart bag, go for a transitional type stand bag. Ogio makes the Grom and Edge which are pretty heavy bags to carry regularly, but have a stand and lot's of functionality.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I went ahead and pulled the trigger on a Titleist sc75 cart bag at Edwin Watts. They were having their annual "tent sale" and the price was just too good to pass up.

Now I have to figure out what to do with my Ping stand bag! :fool:

I've sold several bags on eBay. You could list it in the For Sale section here at GolfWRX too. If your Vantage is still in good shape you could probably get close to $100 for it if not more. They aren't that hard to box up, especially if your local shop where you bought your cart bag from has some empty bag boxes laying around.

You could also donate it to a Jr golf program in your area if you have one.

I like my Sunday bag if I'm using a few clubs...

I use my stand bag a lot for the range...

I use my cart bag mainly for weekend play...

My father had an old bag from like Nam with newer clubs. He's getting on in age and arthritis is setting in. For father's day I got him a really great cart bag from Burton. Has a cooler pouch that can hold a 6 pack, and the whole nine yards. I agree with the statement above, Staff bags are for the tour. Even then I wouldn't force one of those on a caddy. A stand bag is just as good. Cart bags are great, especially for carts or trollies. I've seen them with taps, but those were special made.

Everyone I have ever seen with a staff bag acts like they are Tiger Woods, but hit like Little Orphan Annie. I use a carry bag myself, and when in the Philippines I get a lot of thanks from the caddies for not being "stuck up" and having the Tiger Woods special. (No carts in the PI, hiring caddies is cheaper than upkeep of carts, and you have no choice but to hire one.)

I have a Titleist stand bag, but I am looking for a cart bag as well to use on weekends, or when I know I'm riding or using my push cart. I love these:

(Might be a little too "Staff-Bagish" for me...)

And this one, which I think is perfect but is almost exactly like the bag I already have:

I was looking at the SC75's as well but haven't seen one in person. Are any of the club slots big enough to accomodate a putter with a headcover? It almost looks like one won't fit into any of the openings, which could present a problem.

I'm having the same problem. I'm using a ping hoofer extreme and i never walk. I go to the range a lot and it's nice there but when I play it's all cart. I'm having a tough time getting the clubs in and out and the labels on my irons are starting to pay for it. I've been thinking about the sc75, too. Anyone have any pics or comments about the sc75 or another decent cart bag?
