Looking at a black R1. How does it play? Local shop has one but no demo to hit and just curious. Gaming a d100 for a whole year that I love but curious, thanks.

Some people really like the R1 and others do not. Just a personal preference but I do not like it. Doesn't suit my eye and a variety of other clubs gave me better results.
I will say that it felt different than what I'm used to though, almost "softer" feeling to me.

If it suits your eye than I say go for it, if the price is right and you want it.

I am playing a black R1 TP,I went from a R9(2yrs) to a R11(2yrs) and tried my buddy's R1 w/55gX shaft which was too light for me.I bought mine with the 65gX and like it much better than the R11.The face seems more live and I am hitting it straighter than the other 2 R's aI had prior.

I have a tour version2 born white and living on as flat black with my home paint job :ninja:

I had a SLDR for 2 weeks and it took me 2 weeks to fix my swing flaws that I developed
after trying to bag the SLDR--- that was a nightmare-- I love my r1

The R1 is  in my bag because of all the drivers I've used, I've had the best luck in keeping the ball in the fairway with this one, with no loss of distance.  Mine is the R1 Black, and it is a great looking club. Looks smaller than the 460 size it is.  The adjustability is also a great feature.

I'm still gaming my R1, only issue I had when I got it was it was REALLY loud and came in at D9, so with a weights change and some hotmelt...it sounds amazing...and goes far.

I'm reasonably sure the R1 sleeve is compatible with the SLDR and RBZ Stage 2 only. I know 100% it's interchangeable with the SLDR.

I like the R1 much better than the R11s. Have been between 3 different Burner 2.0s and the R1 is shorter for me by about 10 yards, but much more consistent. The distance loss is annoying as I probably just don't have it dialed in correctly, but I am hitting much more fairways. I am playing the R1 with a .5 inch shorter shaft which probably accounts for some distance loss and accuracy gain. I agree with others, the head doesn't feel hot like the Burner 2.0, almost soft feeling, but I'll probably stick with it for a while.

You have to really demo the R1 yourself. I realize this is a small sample size but last year 4 guys at the club I play league at all bought R1's at the beginning of the season. By July, not a one of them was still playing them. That doesn't mean it won't be a great driver for you. Personally,I've never hit one but I hate the sound of them.

I also have the R1 Black and can concur with most of the comments on here. Like with most things, if you can find a shaft you like (for me it was a Fubuki) it totally transforms the club's performance vs the stock shaft.

Thanks, I don't see many either, I hated the r11 my son HAD, finally convinced him after he hit my D100. He moved on as well although TM makes quality equipment, I'm skeptics without demoing. Thx again.

How does R1 white compare to R11s?  I always thought they were very similar just added graphics to the R1. I have R11s with Matrix RUL 60 shaft, great combo. I wonder if R1 White or black would be alittle longer.

I asked a similar question in another forum yesterday and Stuart G. kindly responded with some great info. He said the R1 sleeve/shaft adaptor will work with a rocketballs stage 2, and the slider. The old R9 sleeve/shaft adaptor will work with a R11, R11s and original rocketballs.  Hope this helps.

I've owned and played; R9, R11, R11s, R1, and now RBZ stage2 Tour. Of those the R1 spent the least amount of time in the bag. R1 just didn't spin enough (my SS = 105). great drives just fell out of the sky unless I tuned the loft way up. R11s felt and performed well, but just couldn't tolerate the sound, R11 sounded mute in comparison so I went back to it. Had the R11 paired with a 7M3 shaft and it was a great combo. I'd still be playing it today but it was stolen from the garage cause the wife left the garage door open all night (only the driver, 3w, and hybrid were taken). This presented a free pass to go shopping with the wife's blessing.  RBZ 2 Tour is pretty damn nice, that's what I'm playing now. Also picked up a stage 2 tour hybrid and jetspeed 3w.

Still playing one? I've only had it for 6 months. I don't change every time TM comes out with a new one. ;)

Yes I like mine. Can't say it gave me an extra 20 yards of distance like most expect out of a new driver, but I am consistent with it and drive it as far as most in my age bracket. I like all the adjustment options too. It will be in my bag for all of 2014.

Love my R1 TP. I've hit every driver and I still haven't found one that gives me a consistently higher ball speed. Aside from the SLDR, all the other drivers I've hit spin too much for me so R1 is in the bag. At least until I hit some 2014 models! No, it's staying. Unless the Covert Tour 2.0 kicks it out. Or the Big Bertha. Or "insert driver here" performs better.

R1 black here. Still love it. Took a round or two to get used to, but once I did... Awesome. Didn't like the feel at first but it has grown on me. Didn't care much for the SLDR, R1 definately staying in the bag.
