I'm considering a new 14 slot carry bag, mostly because I'm nuts and don't like the idea of my clubs "sharing" compartments and banging together.  Before I spend a couple hundred bucks on my insanity, thoughy, I wanted to get the pros and cons of this style of bag.  So, who has used them and what are your opinions.

I tried a 14 way a few years ago and did not like having to figure out where to put it back.  After 30 years of just pushing them back into a general area of the bag, it was annoying to have to find the right slot.  Just a personal preference I am sure.  Also, they seemed to clank more and make noise as the heads were separated and able to bang together more.  Sold the bag.
Earlier this year, I got it in my head again that 14 way was the answer, again, did not like it and sold it off.   I am solid 4 way divider guy, just like the way it looks,i guess, we are all different.  Try one out and see what you think.

I must say that I agree with purdy above - a 14-way bag doesn't prevent bag chatter at all and in fact may exacerbate it. And it can be a pain to have to look for the right slot for the club every time, often having to finagle other clubs to make room. This is especially troublesome in the rain (with the rain cover on, as I can attest). That being said, though, I really like my Sun Mountain Hybrid with 14-way top. I tried a 6-way Titleist staff bag, 3-way Jones stand bag, and a 2-way Sun Mountain Swift ZG bag before this and found them lacking when it came to club tangling. The 14 individual dividers make tangling virtually nonexistent, which is a deal-breaker with me. However, I also agree with purdy regarding a 4-way bag. Next to the 14-top it's the next best configuration for eliminating club tangling. Plus it reduces weight and size. This is why I also have a Sun Mountain 3 Five with 4-way top for when I walk.

That's my other problem, I'm a cheapskate (Scottish blood and all).  I'd hate to spend a couple hundred bucks just to try it.  If I buy something it would be with the intent of using is a long time.

Dick's DOES have a Top Flight bag for closer to $100, but that didn't seem as high a quality. Plush the Sun Mountain I'm looking at has the dividers going pretty much all the way down as opposed to just a couple inches on the Top Flight...seems that would keep them from getting tangled.

The bag I have now is either 6 or 8 dividers (can't remember which), and I feel like I want more.  But I guess I haven't seen how the other half lives.....

I am the opposite, I like the individual dividers for my bag.  The Ogio stand bag I have is now 6 yrs old.  Into the 3rd year the dividers started to fall apart.  I have used the old golf tubes in the divider slots & it has been great ever since.  I will also use Face Saver iron covers & my irons are still in great shape after 3+ years.  Have yet to loose any of the covers, although I come close several times every season.

I agree that a 14 slot bag doesn't help with club chatter. But I'm at a loss as to why people have to hunt for what slot to put the club back in.
13 clubs taking up 14 slots...  I'd look for the empty one, but that's just me.

if you get a 14 way divider bag i find it helps if you go with one that is set up like a set of stairs. makes it easier to find where to put them.

I have had a Sun Mountain Four 5 for about 4 years now and love it for walking and riding. It's probably about 5 lbs, which admittedly isn't the lightest. But it fits well on the back of carts and if you keep it fairly empty isn't a burden for walking. The biggest thing I love above the 14 way dividers is that thy are Full-Length (In Sun Mountain and Titleist bags at least) and that they keep the grips and shafts in good shape. I'd recommend checking those out, I'm sure you can find an older model for cheap. If you decide to spend a little more, PING introduced a 14-way Hoofer this year as well.

The only bag that has my interest that isn't a 14 way top that I've seen is the new 2014 Titleist StaDry Premier. 4 way top but 3.5 lbs and waterproof.

Have a Sun Mountain Hybrid...

Tangling? No.

Trouble finding the hole? No.   :)

Durability is AWESOME.

Chatter? That's every bag for ya... Don't like chatter get covers.

Easy to carry... Little heavier but not noticeable to me.

After using Ogio Groms with the Woode Top for years.... I switched and I won't switch back.

Fits great on my Clicgear when I don't wanna walk.

I am however going to get a staff bag now that Clicgear makes a kit for Staff Bags.

The Hybrid will be for walking, the Staff Bag for when I take the cart.

It's going to come down to personal preference.

I have a 14 way Four 5 and its great. I've never had a problem stickum my club in any hole (take that how you will). I did just purchase a Three 5 today though for my other set of clubs but that will be only ft walking. You will get more bag chatter with a 14 way because the clubs don't rest against each other.

If you want 14 way divider  agree to go with a "stadium" top, that being a high back row and each row forward sitting a little lower, like stairs.  I have a Sun Mountain C-130.  Club organization is excellent.  No tangling.  If you can't find the slot then you must be blind.  I recommend the C-130 for a cart bag or the Sun Mountain Hybrid if you want a stand bag.

I had an Ogio Recoil that was also 14 way full length and the top was narrower and did not work nearly as well.  Organization was awkward and it was indeed sometimes difficult to locate the slot that the club came out of.

14 way full length dividers need to be set up right to be effective.  Sun Mountain seems to have it figured out on the C-130 and Hybrid.

I have the Sun Mountain Four 5. I agree with others that it actually increases the bag chatter as each club has the freedom to swing back and forth and ends up hitting the hosel of the adjacent club. It doesnt bother me though, the only time I notice is when Im walking near someone who is about to address the ball and I get self-conscious about making too much noise. Then I either stop and wait or reach back with my hand and hold the club heads in place as I walk. The 14 way dividers to tend to be a bit heavier if your looking for a carry/stand bag.

Never had trouble with finding a club or putting it back in the bag. I always keep each club in the same slots and have never pulled the wrong club since I went 14 way.

I own a Nike 14 way and much prefer a 5 or 6 way like my old Burton stand bag.  I wish they would raise the middle row an inch so it doesn't beat the hell out of the bottom row in the 14 way bags.

Had/have a Cally XHP carry bag with the 14 way dividers.   Lots of pockets, but heavier then I like in a carry bag.  Also found that the clubs clanged together more as they were spread out, so harder to hold in one hand when walking.

Well I guess I am old school as heck. I cant stand them in fact when I got my Infiniti Staff bag a couple of years ago the first thing I did was take the middle divider out and make it at 3 way instead of a 6 way did the same thing with my Cleveland stand carry bag plus cut the cloth dividers out of both. Those 14 divider bags have further made the game of golf slower by people trying to find an empty hole to put their club in. Also I see some of these guys cussing and having a heck of a time trying to put those rediciously large putter grips in one of those. I have a friend of mine that has one of those grips as big as a tailpipe on a sprint cup car that cant even put his in his 14 way bag period. He has to carry it in the basket of the cart and forget the outside holder it wont even fit in it. But if that is your cup of tea so be it

I have a Sun Mountain 3.5 that I use when I walk, and a Sun Mountain 4.5 with individual spots for each club that I use when I roll my Micro Cart or Clicgear. The dividers are great when I use a push cart.

From what I have seen. SUN MOUNTAIN provides the only completally seperate compartments in which all of the club slots are seperate all the way to the bottom and there is no chance of a clubs grip sliding over and rubbing another grip.
There may be others, but this is what I've seen

I have one of the 2013 Titleist 14-way carry bags.  I love everything about it.  I always hated it when I grabbed for a club and 5 came out at once.  Everything is organized and I could care less about chatter.  Put on those iron covers if you don't want dings and nicks.  Don't forget the ghost tape so the soles stay pristine!

I'm leaning towards keeping the Four 5 that I bought.  The cheapskate in me tells me that the $20 used bag I have is good enough to carry clubs, but the Mr. Monk part of me says that each club needs a home.  It's not about the chatter so much as order.

I'm using a Callaway Org14 for 4 years now and love it.

Being a bit OCD, it's easy to remeber where your club came from and to put it back where it belongs. I use the 14th slot for my umbrella and ball retriever.
I have a 6 slot Callaway bag for Florida and hate it.  Constantly mixing my clubs up. And there aren't enough pockets.

Club chatter is another matter. It happens with any bag.

Id love to have a 14 way divided bag. I have an ogio with the woode system and can barely get my clubs in and out of the bag. The dividers ripped so i had to get those plastic tubes so my graphites wouldnt get messes up. I filed a warranty claim with them. (The legs gave out too) but they havent contacted me for about a week. How long does it usually take?

I've had 14 divider bags for probably 10 years.  For a carry bag, I have to agree with the chatter issue - it does seem worse than a 4 way divider.  But as I use a push cart, that's no big deal.  And for me, I'm used to one slot per club so finding the right slot is no big deal.  It also makes it obvious if you're missing a club.

Ogio Chamber with silencer system. 14 full length dividers and each club locks in at the base of the divider. No rattles, each club is in its own zone, the locking system didn't harm the grips, and its very easy to keep the bag set up the way you want.

Just received my new SM 4.5 bag and after a couple of rounds it works really well.  No club grabbing so far and it's nice to be able to put my club back into the bag without having the force it in too.  Using it with my Clicgear there doesn't seem to be much chatter either, but we'll see as it gets used more.  Having never had a 14 way before it seems pretty good so far though.  We'll see going forward.
