Should have added on the whole going back to being an AM, a lot of it depends on if she received compensation for playing and that goes beyond just the straight up cash payments.  It can include lodging, clothes, bags, etc.

A close friend of mine who is a very competitive AM played in a member guest that had a $10,000 prize if you could make a 30 foot qualifying putt and then a 100 foot putt with miles of break.  Of course, he made both and they told him the only way he could accept the money was to turn pro.

That is something that Big Break might need to consider.  I wonder if they would get more "top status" amateur golfers if they allowed them to compete on the show but not win anything until the end.  That way they could still retain their amateur status if they lose but have the option to turn pro before the last episode to win the money and exemption.  Don't know if that would work, but is a thought.

I like the layout of this BB so far.  We have already seen more golf than in some previous episodes (in the elimination challenges).

Covert Tour 2.0 11.5* w/ Kuro Kage
VR Pro LE 15* w/ Project X 6.5
VR Pro LE 19* w/ Project X 6.5
VRS 4, VR Pro Combo 5-PW w/ PXF 6.5
Odyssey Tour Black #5 35"
VR Forged 52*, 56*, 58* w/ Tour Concepts

Dallas had a pretty emotional reaction to being eliminated.  Basically saying she only plays golf to make her family happy and not herself.  If that is the case, she will never succeed in competitive golf and she should give up that up.

I hadn't checked before but the bio says Tonya is 27.  Uh, yeah, what 10 years ago?

I think they must have meant 27 years older than the other competitors.

Haha yeah!

There's something real creepy about this chick.

Didn't Dallas turn pro just to compete in this. Can someone get their amateur status restored and play college golf?  Or is it once you've been pro, then playing collegiately is out?

i think this is a good point. GC kind of markets Dallas and the youngest competitor, but it might be to her expense. She seems to have the game to get a good scholarship, wouldn't it make sense for her to go to college on scholarship. i could be wrong, don't really know if scholarships are available for womens golf as they are mens.

just seems that Dallas would benefit from college and exploring what she may want to do in the future and use golf to get her there instead of the crap shoot that is Big Break

I think so. Meghan Hardin had the same issue.

Yeah, it's a pretty risky decision to make if you've got a scholarship waiting. And I think they are much more available for the women than for the men.

But does anyone know on the college eligibility issue. I think that if you've been pro in a sport then you can't come back and play that sport in college, but I'm just not sure.

Yea same thing happened in earlier season with Meghan who either quit her college golf team or turned down playing for the golf team to go on Big Break then was the first eliminated.

Sadena with that bomb, impressive especially choking down like she did.  Agree with others who put her in final.

Felt bad for Dallas but IIRC she just got married herself at 18 so she has a ton going on.  I couldn't imagine being in her shoes at 18 wanting to support her family, I hope she takes some time away and gets her head together.  She does have a good game but she wasn't ready for the big time, a few years playing in the minor tours will help out.  Just hope she doesn't quit the game after that experience.

Agree with Awsi on the producing, liked it more when we were mocking Don Donatello "Pull that tape tight!"

Lauren is the show stopper this season.

And like others have said, awesome drive by Sedena. I thought Mary would go HAM on them in that challenge, but damn!

No one's mentioned how hilarious it was that Sedena intimidated everyone into not picking the 95 yard shot. That was great!

Sad to see Dallas go, she was the only one who came across as genuine and not contrived...

The show is highly edited to make it seem as though they all hate Mary and Mary hates them. The reality however is that Mary is friends with most of the girls on the show, and they have been playing golf together for a long time. I think enemies on the course, friends off the course applies very well in this situation.

Agree.
I spoke with a BB gal last May....she said there were 17 cameras on site....we can all imagine there are 100's of hours of filming that is on the cutting room floor in order to make a 45 minute episode (take out time for replays, commercials and the intro and summary).
It wouldn't surprised me if all 17 cameras were ready to go from 6am to 11pm.

She said there was a ton of alcohol available after play because they wanted the gals to be a little loose lipped for the confessionals.

I am actually liking the golf this season. Showcases more talent than hitting nothing but pitch shots at chalk circles on the greens. In reading the bios before the show started, I thought Lauren or Jackie would walk away with this. I still think Jackie has the necessary game to do it, but Sadena has all of them quaking in their shoes. She's got a solid short game, and she's Bubba-long compared to her competitors off the tee. Hitting a choke down drive 276 is ridiculous. That's longer than most guys I know that have her by 50lbs or more. It really shows you that the golf swing is so much more about speed and contact than power... something that I need to constantly remind myself. I want to hit it like that!

I still cant get over what awful shape the course appears to be in. But gven that it is apparently in terrible shape, why wouldnt you pick the *best* holes to have challenges on - even if you repeat holes? Would anyone really notice?

The 35 yard position they picked, the markers seemed to be right smack in the middle of a terrible brown patch of dirt/grass. Now I guess I'm assuming that some holes were in decent shape but yikes it looks like they picked the worst spot possible for those markers.

I'd be more concerned about the greens. Isn't this course south enough to keep the bermuda all winter?

They seem to be rotating through the three courses not using the same holes more than once so far. Course actually seems to look pretty good so far in my opinion.

They have had a ridiculously tough time historically on the four ocean holes with the greens. Literally growing out the grass to 1/2 - 3/4 inch on the greens of some holes.

All that said the prime time for those courses used to be May and September/October, the later of which I assume is when this was filmed

A few of the players on BB are going to play in a Symetra Tour event next weekend in Lake Wales. Played in a tourney there today - greens were incredible. Entire course was in wonderful condition. Thinking about heading out there and paying the $10 to see them play.
Some of them were there today getting in some practice. Didn't recognize any of them from BB but from a "who is appearing" brochure several will be playing.
I wish GC would televise at least some of this tour. They have talent and would be better than some of the home grown shows there are producing and showing.

I went to a Symetra Tour event last year, and while I agree that it's fun, they def have talent, etc, I disagree about it being shown on GC. I just dont think it'd make compelling television tbh. The Web.com and Champions Tours are painful enough to watch as it is...

Is it just me or has this been an episode of nothing but commercials?

I noticed it the entire series this year. I would say 3-4 more commercials per hour than a normal Golf Channel show.

Lauren looks kinda silly in the aviator glasses. I told her she looked like Jimenez and she said she is far more flexible when it comes to stretching than he is.
