And........ What would the winning score be? (USGA Setup)

Mine: Merion Golf Club. I don't care if it's 6500 yards. Make the rough 7-8 inches thick, fairways narrow as heck, greens 14 on the stimpmeter.

Winning Score? Plus 4 (+4)

Of course, my 2nd Pick: Pine Valley Golf Club. Rough 6-7 inches thick. Greens: 15-16 on the Stimpmeter.........

Winning Score: Plus 11 (+11) or Plus 14 (+14)

My vote is always for a local muni....Torrey Pines, Bethpage Black, ?Harding Park?.....

There is nothing like holding the US Open at course we can all play.

I would like to see one played at Treetops Resort in Gaylord. The courses are resort courses so they are normally set up to be player friendly. However there is alot of potential to make them more difficult by making the rough longer and narrowing the fairways.

Plus the views are spectatular and anyone can play the courses.

Pine Barrons course at World Woods. With some thick bermuda rough and narrowing of fairways, this course would be a bear and beautiful. Winning score -2

Since it is an "open" championship and theoritically anyone (with low enough h-cap index) can qualify it, shouldn't it always be held @ a public course ..Maybe rotate it to a different region of the country annually. North/South/East/West?????

My pick Sea Island GC (Seaside Course)

Brookline CC is always a good spot, since that is where Francis Ouimette won in 1923, just has a sentimental aspect for me being that I'm from Boston.

But Pine Hills in Plymouth, MA wouldn't be a bad choice either seeing that it has a Jack Nicklaus links style design, would be allot of fun to watch them play links style here in New England.

You would just have to get the rough up to 9 - 10 inches and pinch in the fairways.

I just think the US Open should be based on shot quality, not length.

When you make the big hitters layup, taking away their advantage, you see guys like Funk and DiMarco (guys who aren't long hitters) shine with their shot making.

That to me is what a US Open should be.

My vote would be Oakmont in Pittsburgh. I cant wait to see the open there in 2007. After all the changes.....taking trees out and restoring it to what it was originally supposed to play like. The course will be amazing for the open. Winning score: E/-1

Thunder Hill in Madison OH... 7500 from the tips... As narrow as a club as I have ever played... #9 plays 270 from the back into the wind... NICE!!!! #8 620 par 5 uphill all carry... nice... #18... par 5 like 590ish...dog left... Anyone out there ever played it... I think there are like 60 lakes on the course just to add to the fun!!!!!

I agree, but the problem is that the courses there really can't handle the people that would be attending.

I would love to see the tournament played at Chicago Golf Club...they hosted the Walker Cup this year, so it would seem that they are becoming more friendly about hosting events there. With the right set up the winner would likely shoot around Even.
