Play the PGA in Port ST Lucie Florida . There cheaper and better. Pgavillage.com It's about a 30 minute drive north on I-95

Well, not everyone has the same likes and dislikes. The Champ, of course, is the best course of the 5 that you are able to play. That was the site of the recent Honda Classic.

The General, Haig, Estates and the Squire are all very solid and quite challenging courses in the own right.

Now, I used to work at PGA a few years back. Since then it has changed owners, but from speaking to a few people, it seems they have upgraded the courses and the hotel and the overall experience should be very enjoyable. You may even see a few local pro's bopping in and out.

Hope you have some fun. ^^

I have only played The Champ, It was the week after the Honda this year, and they still had the grand stands up. I loved it, I got through the bears trap even so it was a success....They course is awesome though, you will love it!!

My grandparents have a house in ballenisles which is right next to PGA Nationl. You should really enjoy it. I was down the week after the Honda and played The Champ. It is the most fun ive had on a golf course in a while. rough was still 6 inches lon then. Shot 72 from the tournament tees. 3 over on the front and -3 on the back. played the bear trap in -2 and then birdied 18 to get back to even. Hotel and Spa are great and the golf course are each unique and have their own look to them. Ill be there over Memorial Day weekend for a Tournament on the Champ Course.

I am a member at PGA National. So far, I think the new ownership will be a big positive for the club. Time will tell. The couses are in much better shape than previously.

All courses are in pretty good shape right now, but the Squire just had the greens aerated. Not sure what the schedule is for the other courses.

The Estates course has better greens than all the others. This course is about 5 miles from the other four, but part of the package.

Keep in mind that we are having a very severe drought here. We are only allowed to water our lawns once a week between 4am-7am. This affects the golf courses as well. The lakes are drying up and they can't use as much on the course as they need. Because of this, the greens will not be cut as short as they should/could be otherwise, and there are some browned out areas in the rough and on parts of the fairways. That said, they are still in very nice shape.

Squire - Shorter course, tight fairways, small greens. Great course to love or hate.
Haig - The most undulating greens, but not too severe. Open fairways. Good tournament course. Golden Bear Tour plays on it and the Champ.
General - My favorite. Undulating fairways, well protected greens. Much tougher from back tees than front. (Doglegs can be cut from the front).
Estates - Not the prettiest of our courses, but a great layout and in fantastic condition. Gets much less play than the others beacuase it isn't on site.
Champion - You all know already.

Enjoy your trip!

I've played them all except for the Champion course. They are all really good and a great fun facilty, probably 4 star courses. I enjoyed the General Course the best. Its been a while. that was back in 1987.

Will you be playing at FCWT Nationals at PGA National in 2 weeks? It is gunna be a great field!! I Love PGA national hotel and resort.

Hopefully they play us juniors at par 72, not like the PGA tour.

I was a golf pro at PGA National for 8 years. So here is my opinion...

The champ is awesome....if you like a challenge and the fact that you are playing a course that has hosted the Ryder Cup, The PGA Championship, The Senior PGA Championship, and The Honda Classic....then you will be thrilled. The bear trap is the stretch on the back that is just to put it bluntly.....very hard. All in all great course and should be a fun time for you.

The haig was my least favorite of the golf courses there. If you like shotmakers courses where you have to plot your way around , then you will enjoy the haig.

The general was one of the sleeper courses at PGA in my opinion. It was very challenging, designed by Arnold Palmer...overall a great golf course.

Hope for good weather, and good course conditions....And hey there is one thing that I do know for sure and that is there is always a beverage cart around, so you can get some beers and enjoy....Sometimes there are even pretty hot cart girl eye candy....

If you have any other questions about where to eat, where to go out...all of that...shoot me a PM and I will see what I can come up with for you.
