If you're going to carry and you want people to take you seriously, a ping hoofer is the only option.
The whole stand mechanism is unmatched- the entire base ('hoof') makes contact with the ground, they legs are perfect, I've never had a zipper break and it was the collegiate bag of choice for years.

I have owned 3 hoofers over 15 years and I'm about to buy the 2017 model (all black of course).
Also, I don't carry any Ping clubs.
Hope this helps!

No chance.  3 club brands, sometimes 4 and the Ping Hoofer matches none of them.

I'm currently all ping but wish my bag wasn't one as well. Thinking about something generic like a sun mountain but a bag is the last thing I want to blow money on.

Nothing generic about Sun Mountain.  I remember when they were one of the cheaper bags that cost under $100 while most bags were in that $120-140 range.  I was looking at a Sun Mountain bag at my local shop.  Thought it looked really nice and saw the price tag of $179.99.

There's nothing "generic" about Sun Mountain at all. As a golf course and pro shop operator seeing and handling a lot of golf bags that I bring into the shop, I'd say Sun Mountain is the best quality mass market level bag out there now, next to PING. Sun Mountain isn't cheap. At wholesale prices, they are routinely one of, if not the most expensive of the widely distributed bags in golf.

Until about a month ago all 14 of my clubs were Ping and so was my bag (Hoofer). Now the only Ping clubs I have are my 4 cross over, two wedges, and my putter...

Never have had a bag that matched my clubs or even one of my clubs... I have always used Ping bags and mostly Titleist woods, wedges, cameron putters and Adams irons.... All though if I could get my hands on a Cameron bag I would rock that

I have always had a thing for Ogio golf bags which works for me because it being an "non OEM bag" (I know they are owned by Callaway but it doesn't have the Callaway logo on it) I feel safe to game whatever clubs I want and not have to worry about mixing brands.  Although now I game a full Callaway setup.

They used to, but my Nike Vapor broke about 3 months after they stopped selling bags, so went for a Sun Mountain. Was between the Four 5 and the Ping Hoofer, but the Sun Mountain just seemed a nicer bag, plus I was keen to try the Zero G strap. It really does make a massive difference.

I'm about to have a mostly-matching backup bag... just picked up this beauty for $90 from Golfetail after stacking a coupon code on a deal-of-the-day.  It'll be holding Idea Black CB3 irons, XTD Ti fairway, and XTD Ti hybrid along with Mizuno driver, MacGregor wedges, and Odyssey putter.  Gamer bag is still Ogio Silencer, but nor for much longer as I'm about to make a warranty claim and sell the replacement... still not sure what will replace it, but leaning towards a Wilston Staff Nexus II.
