Title says it all. Just bought the R 1 and not too happy with it right now. I am going to try cutting it down to 44.5" and see if I get better results. How does the 913 d2 compare? Thanks?

I demoed both.  The Titleist 913 won me over with it simplicity, sound, distance and control; so I bought one.

The titleist has MUCH better looks, sound, and feel.  However, the R1 is probably hotter/lower launching.  If you can get over the looks/feel/sound (and some, myself included, simply cannot), the R1 would probably give slightly more ballspeed, but how much is something that you'd have to try it to see.

Specifically, what are you not happy with?
What loft have you been using the R1 at?
Was the 10.5* Fast 12 LS the last driver you had before this one?

Wanted to love the 913 Driver but the feel and results just were not there. I am not saying it's a bad club, just not for me. R1 is firmly in the bag.

I wouldnt cut down the shaft.  Just get out and try the 913D2.  One of the reasons i left Taylormade was because all the drivers
were way too long off the rack.  Im playing 913D2 at 45 inches and its great.

Yes I had the Fast12  Ls before the R 1. I am playing the R1 at 12 degrees. I just am finding it hard to control at 45.5" I have always played drivers at 44.5" but thought I would try a few rounds with the R1 before I have it cut down.

Then would definitely suggest trimming it down to 44.5".  I'm 6'4" and play mine at 45", but I do have a shaft that plays 44" that I plug into it for grins sometimes.  Will be very surprised if shortening it doesn't make a big difference for you.

I've tried both and preferred 913.
R1 is a bit longer on the launch monitor for me but shot dispersion/forgiveness 913 won.
I also like the feel and look of 913 over R1.

Had both, got rid of the R1. It def is lower spin head but did not like the feel and sound of it over the 913. Plus I was very inconsistent with it and the SW was way off after throwing in a mid 70g shaft.

Thats the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. You stopped using a companies equipment because stock length is too long? You realize you can order it at a different length and stock drivers fit a very very small amount of people perfectly.

If the shaft is 20g heavier than stock it'll obviously throw of swing weight..... turns out it will also be heavier overall. ;)

I had the 913 d2 and my playing buddy brought a r1 to the driving range because he got it to demo and see if its better than his r9 , I tried it after he did and the sound was awful, everything else was similar to my 913 except feel and sound which is very important to me, looks were not that good either, my friend didn't like it too because he said there's too much stuff going on, out drivers are still firmly in the bag.
