I currently play 9.5 anser driver with the ahina s shaft. Love my driver but need to upgrade my 3 wood. I am gaming the old callaway x tour 3 wood from 2007. I llike it but don't love it, the shaft is a touch long and looks very thick. I had hit a Taylor Made R9 3 wood for a while but was fairly inconsistent. Just wondering what some thoughts are regarding the anser 3 wood and G25 3 wood. Any pros and cons to these 2 clubs?

I like the anser fw a lot better than the g25. I just like the smaller profile much better. I feel like the g is a little too stretched out to me and the anser feels better IMO as well.

I've always liked the compact, smaller 3 wood. Love the I20. Right shaft this is next best thing to the old Titelist PT. Gs are great, just have that wide look. Heard the Anser is somewhat like the I20. FWIW.

The stock TFC stiff shaft in the Anser is extremely soft - waggle one.  It strays from the flex predictability of the good TFC line.  I can deal with the TFC's in every PING wood except this particular one.  Get a custom shaft.

That being said the profile of the Anser fairway wood suits my eye much better than that of the G25 fairway.  Also it has a more "thwack" sound where the G25 sound hollow and metallic.  Metallic isn't always bad, but big hollow shell metallic is distracting.

My vote goes to the Anser head.

Love, love, love my Anser 3W and 5W (stock TFC in R flex). Even though I have a G25 driver the Anser fairways are in the bag to stay.

I picked up a good deal on a slightly-used Anser 3W a few months back, never even looked at the G25 equivalent. It works better than any 3-wood I've ever used so I'm not tempted to even try the G25. Was playing a G15 7-wood already but after a few weeks and a dozen rounds with the 3W put the G15 in the closet and got an Anser 5W.

I know this is just some quirk or my swing or my setup or my expectations but for some reason I will typically get the ball to turn over slightly and run a long way when hitting the Anser 3W from the fairway. My past experience with low-lofted woods has DEFINITELY not been hitting a slight draw I'll tell you that! But the funny part is, using the 3W off the tee it will go straight with just a little baby fade at the end sometimes. It will not draw or hook for anything off the tee.

Since I use it as a tee club on a couple Par 4's with short-ish doglegs (driver will sometimes end up in trouble) that straight/slight-fade ball flight is perfect. And since I use the 3W from the fairway to either run the ball up close to the green on very long Par 4's or for layups on the longest Par 5's, the draw gets me 10 yards extra rollout which is great. For as long as that pattern lasts it's like a magic club for me on those particular situations.

The Anser is the best FW I have ever hit, you might here that about a lot of clubs, sure... buut it actually is the first one I LOVE to hit, all other FWs have been more lika a love / hate realtionship. They worked great sometimes, but on other days I wanted to throw them in the trash.

I went with the Anser 16.5°, which actually is longer than my previous 3-woods. Easy launch but such a boring flight, absolutely perfect. My go to club on into the wind tee shots and narrow holes.

If you have the right shaft in it, it´s as good as it gets.

Anser Fairway: Lower launch, lower spin, 155cc, Matte Black crown.

G25 Fairway: Higher launch, Slightly higher spin (shaft can dictate this also), 165cc, Matte Charcoal crown.

Personally I think the G25 has more pop off the face. But harmonics has a bit to do with that as well. Similar to a Honda Civic with a popped muffler, loud sounds fast.

As I tell a lot of people, if you are going to invest money into your golf game GET FIT! Preferably on a launch monitor. :)

Currently play G15 3 wood and like it, find it easy to hit, but sometimes I get in trouble to left.  Play Anser driver and when adjust to 1/2* less loft it opens the face a little and works great.
Going from G15 to Answer any thoughts on forgiveness?   Also, since Anser has stronger loft was thinking Anser 4 wood as would be 16*  on open setting vs G15 at 15.5.  Thought on difference?
Thanks, Mac

I found the G25 3 wood easier to launch off the deck than the anser 3 wood. And the ball flight got even better when I put an ahina 70 shaft in it.

The anser line to me fairway wood and hybrid felt awful to me. Just felt like a dull thud at impact. Didn't like them one bit.

I love the Anser, have tried almost anything I could lay my hands on. It was the most consistent to me, I don't feel the hits at all and I'm hitting it absurdly far.
I bought the Hybrid without having hit it, love that even more then the 4wood :D

This has nothing to do with whose is bigger, longer, better. I just seem to get the sense that Anser is like the I series woods.Folks love them or, well, they just don't like them. Whereas you hardly ever see anyone say they don't like the Gs. Interesting.

How do you think G25 3 wood would compare to Anser 4 wood off the deck?
Also, anyone have feedback on Answer when adjusted to less loft/open setting?
Thanks, Mac

What i meant was that the G25 was more forgiving than the anser. And compared to a 4 wood, I think any 4 wood is easier to hit than any 3 wood due to the higher loft, at the expense of distance.

I play the 16.5, neutral. I don't believe in all the bullcr*p about closed and open settings, nor loft changes.

I notice the difference in my Anser driver when I change setting as I draw in neutral and straight/fade in less loft/open setting.
Any feedback on those that use Anser fairway woods re difference when adjusted to less loft/open? Thanks, Mac

I have both G25 and Anser 3 woods.  I am a low ball hitter and find it much easier to get the G25 on a usable trajectory from the fairway. It definitely launches higher. From the tee, length seems to be about the same. I do like the look of the smaller head on the Anser.

I've owned I don't even know how many sweet custom PING fairways in the last year and to be honest they were ALL very good.  I never found one that was absolutely perfect but I did enjoy every one of them.  My favorite one so far is the G25 though.

My list:
G20 16.5 shimmed one degree open via WRX- PX Tour 8A2
i20 15- RIP 70X
Anser 14.5- 'ahina 80X
Anser 14.5- BB7X
Anser 14.5- Fuel 70X
G25 15 shimmed one degree open via WRX- VC 7.2 Tour Spec X

Between all of these I think my favorites are the G25 and the Anser with 'ahina 80.  The G25 setup correctly is hotter than Anser and i20, easier to hit than both and just as low spin.  Ultimately though I think the 3 wood is one of the hardest clubs to get right as you're trying to get one club to do several things.  The look from address and confidence inspiring look can have just as much impact on the shot as anything else in the hands of a human golfer.

They absolutely change flight and slight bias on a launch monitor... Whether that's human error and confidence from a perceived change in the club or actually a setting change can be debated all day.  I won't pretend to know more than Tom Wishon and very much respect his work but during my time fitting clubs I see human players with impact on ball flight from PING's adjustable sleeve.

Yesterday I ht the Anser side by side with G20 and agree with many above post that G20 a little easier to hit from deck.  With Anser on open setting I could fade it vs G20 a draw, but Anser not as consistent.  I think I'll stick with G, currently have G15 so any thought on G15 vs G25 as I didn't hit the G25? Thanks, Mac
