I can tell you one pair to avoid. The Nike Siege Swift sunglasses. I got these with the Max Golf Tint lens. The lens is great, love it, BUT the frames are the worst I've ever had. If you like to put your glasses on top of your hat or head, they will bend at the hinges and never fit right!

Anybody try any Callaway glasses? What are the best Oakley glasses for golf?

Like the callys with the neox lens for golf. Been wearing them for a few years and would recommend adding them to the list as well.

I like ray-ban non-polarized brown lenses a lot. off for reading greens, on everywhere else.

The hype on polarized is that they're better for UV protection.  Who knows if that's really true?  Any opthalmologists out there wish to chime in?

I'm personally just partial to Maui Jim because I think they look nice.

Sorry I'm not much help here! :D

Polarization is for reducing glare and reflections. Coatings are what reduce UV rays.

Looks like more are in favor of polarized lenses.  My first pair of Oakleys had polarized lenses in them.  I found them to be very difficult for golf.  Since then I have purchased several more pairs of sunglasses, most of which have non-polarized lenses and personally I find them much better for golf for me.

Make mine non. Looking for minimal distortion. Polarize just makes things look weird like being on the surface of mars

Oakley's here as well.  1 pair of rootbeer colored ones that look like the half jackets and another set of the fugly but very functional m-frames with a cinnamon lense for winter and a grey lense for summer.   They stay in the golf bag, although sometimes I will mow my lawn wearing the half jackets. They really help with headaches in the summer as well.  Gotta have them.

Kaenon's with C 12 lenses are great for golf; polarized without distortion. Check them out if you can find them.

I'm a Kaenon wearer...love them....caught this on their twitter account yesterday...http://blog.kaenon.c...-good-for-golf/

obviously is going to be slightly biased toward their brand, but its a pretty good breakdown of the whole polarized sunglasses and golf "myth"...pretty good explanation as to why some brands give the rest of the polarized world a bad name....worth a read...

Good read, loved this line.  That’s why our PGA and LPGA Tour players can be seen with their sunglasses over their eyes and not over the back of their heads.

I wonder how much Rory gets paid to wear them backwards and upside down?

As an avid skier and aspiring mountaineer, I find this thread a bit amusing since the same debate rages for skiers and mountaineers as well, i.e. polarized vs. non polarized.  They say with polarized lenses, you can't see dangerous patches of ice and could potentially slip and fall to your death when mountain climbing or ski into a patch of ice and fall.  I have skied and climbed in polarized glasses and polarized glacier glasses and have no problem distinguishing between ice and snow.  With that said, i'm an even bigger avid golfer, and i play golf with polarized oakleys now and can honestly say that with them on versus without them on, i don't play any better or worse.  I even putt with them on at times and my putting doesn't all of a sudden go to crap because of any changes in depth perception or any of the other arguments being put forth by opponents of polarized lenses.  Overall, from my personal observation, there has been no noticeable impact to my game with polarized sunglasses other than the protection from the glare of the sun it affords me, and that can only be a good thing at times.

Well, that's not really accurate optically.  Glare is light, there are uv rays in light..so you are partially right.  But, polarization entirely blocks all of the light coming in a a certain angle, so no light equals no uv.

But, I do agree overall.  Heck, we make lenses that are clear that are uv protective.

Send them in when that happens, mine just got loose.  For a small fee I now have new lenses.

True.  Maui is great with replacing lenses.  Usually a few bucks but beats buying a new pair!!

I've started to play golf regularly with my Oakley G30 sunglasses and it is nice to play a round without squinting the entire round.  The wind protection is also quite nice, as I wear contacts and can randomly get debris in my eyes.

The only down side I see to wearing the sunglasses when putting is that it can make the greens appear slower than they really are.  What I mean by that is, the greens appear more green in color and not as "white" (if you will) or light in color.  I think the color of the greens is a big factor in your ability to estimate green speed.  So I only take my glasses off to putt when the greens are fast or very grainy.  On slow greens, I just leave them on.

I didn't vote in the poll because it's been so long since I wore regular lenses on the course.  But I can tell you that my polarized Revo's definitely make things more difficult for me all the way around.  Harder reading greens, for sure, but I can't read them for squat anyway.  Where I think it effects me most often is trying to watch a tee ball in the air or finding a ball in the rough. Someone's in the rough most of the time and I'm a rider so you like to pick up the glare on a ball from far away quickly.  I also lose them in the air more often.

I love polarized but for golf you are better off with regular.  Polarized really plays mind tricks with green readings.
